A little on the pricey side but the quality is outstanding. Nick really has a great eye for alterations and knew just what little nips and tucks are needed. I brought in several pieces of clothing I had left in my closet for months and he made them more wearable and flattering. Unfortunately it is sometimes hard to pin him down on the price, so I usually ask on my way out just as I've dropped off my clothing. They will call you to let you know your clothing is ready. I called this establishment 2 days before prom needing alterations. They let me drop off on Wednesday and pick up on Friday. Which all on its own is a miracle in my opinion. But the alterations were beautiful and done perfectly. I had my dress altered here for a wedding I am attending and knew I was cutting it close with two weeks available for alterations. I took it there with the expectations of not getting it back until just days before I had to travel for the wedding but not so! They were able to get it back to me five days earlier than I thought and with time for additional adjustments if needed. I'm not sure if I paid for the quick service but it was worth it. They don't tell you the cost of the alterations until you come in to pick up your garment but based on other reviews, they may just be pricey in general because they do good work. I would use them again for services. Next time I will allow for more alteration time and see if the prices are the same. Great work though, no regrets! read more

He's a rude man. I came in to get a shirt upsized and he treated me like I was unwanted business as he was still serving another customer. Long story short, I came in, saw he was busy, and was totally willing to wait until the other customer was served. He just yelled "what do you want?" at me while not making eye contact. I told him what I came for, then he just proclaimed it'd be $300 for the job. Didn't even look at the shirt I was holding. I told him outright it was unreasonable and I'd wait till he was done with the other customer so he could properly serve me. He then started grumbling about my apparently Chinese shirt, so I just left. I taught myself to sew and upsized the shirt myself. I'll never bring my business to him again. But I'll thank him for giving me the drive to teach myself a new paying skill. read more

I've used Nick's Tailoring four times within the past year for alternations to slacks and sportscoats. The first two experiences were fine. The last two were not. On the plus side, the staff is always courteous and pleasant. Moreover, they generally complete the work within two weeks, which seems reasonable. However, during my two most recent experiences, my clothing has come back with stains and pen marks--both times. The first time, I let the issue go. The second time, however, I pointed out the problem, given that the clothing I had left for alternation (a sportscoat) was brand new and had never been worn. The staff attempted to clean the stains and spots, but--strangely--never offered to pay for treatment of the stains at a dry cleaners, and never offered to refund their own charges or pay for the clothing. If you currently use another tailor in the Columbia area and are at least satisfied with their work, I wouldn't make the move to Nick's Tailoring. For those who choose to use Nick's Tailoring, know that your lighter-colored clothing may be returned to you with stains and/or spots. read more

This place is perhaps a bit pricier than most, but if you're like me, then you don't want to risk the integrity of your favorite garments. Hands down, best tailor ever. Took my wedding dress here after hearing some good reviews. Immediately fell in love with him and the place! Hes an extremely professional, old school, real-deal tailor and knows his stuff! His staff are very kind! My dress had to be taken in over the shoulders, at the waist and hemmed. Fits perfectly! Worth every penny! Does not overcharge. Dont forget to come in early enough to allow a reasonable amount of time to have the changes made. Took my dress about 4 weeks, but it was wedding season and he is the best! Just bought a new all lace Self Portrait dress and he is the only person I will trust to alter this! I almost hate to write this because this place is busy enough. If you're in need of a tailor, though, they're fantastic. I've had them take in three pairs of pants, lower the waist on another, and take in and modify a suit jacket. All were done beautifully and fit perfectly. The downside is that they're not cheap. But who goes to a professional tailor expecting cheap? Also, alterations sometimes take a day or two longer than they tell you - unless you're already in the neighborhood, call before you make the trip. read more

I had a tricky bridesmaid dress that I needed taken in. I was concerned not only because it was for my sister's wedding, but the dress itself had ruching and pleats, which are not easy to work with. The service was outstanding! The dress fit perfectly after the alterations. And the price was more than reasonable. $20 for the alterations AND he pressed it for me! I live an hour away and will drive back in a heartbeat if I need quality, affordable work done. Of note, I do not know if they provide a "rush" service, I was not in a hurry. I brought Nick an oilskin duster that had an inner liner and no seam at the shoulders (it was all one piece.) I need the sleeves shortened as they were quite long. Nick was able to take it in at the shoulders and put seams where there were none and they now look as if the duster jacket was made that way. It now fits me perfectly and I am beyond satisfied.
