I recently took a pair of ladies unlined dress pants to Em's to be shortened and re-hemmed. I…read morebought the pants, which were fairly expensive, to wear to my granddaughter's wedding and needed them back in a couple of weeks. The original hem in the pants was a blind stitch which every professional seamstress or tailor would agree is the appropriate hem for this type of pants. Em's was prompt in getting the pants back to me but she hemmed them on a sewing machine with a straight stitch and one leg was 1/2" shorter than the other. There was even double stitching in one area on the outside of the leg, very visible. I will not use her again. I took the pants to a professional alteration shop in town to be reworked with the proper blind stitch, they are charging me $15 vs Em's price of $25. Lesson learned!

Agnes' talent for sewing and alterations is shown through her work. I come here every year to get my suit tailored. This year, I had challenging alterations where my travel/carry-on bag was tearing due to wear and tear. Agnes was able to sew a unique triangular strap onto my travel bag. Her adjustment made the travel bag continue its long life. I highly recommend for any alterations or sewing need to come here. Butler's prices are the best in town. My only con is that if you need service during the weekend. You have to wait until Tuesday to get work done. The business is located in what looks like a residential house. Very close to the South Augusta airport. Look for a sign in the yard.

Ms. Agnes and her team graciously worked to meet our deadline. What makes them exceptional is their customer service. The first time we went to pick up the dress, the train was still too long, which was my fault for not having the correct shoes for the first fitting. Ms. Agnes got to work with the pins and the dress was ready for pick up two days later!!! And at no additional fee for my mistake! We will use Butler Alterations for all of our tailoring needs.

I tried on the items and they were pinned every which way depending on the style of the dress. She took her time pinning the garments making sure that is what I wanted. So I had high hopes. I dropped them off on a Friday and they were ready in a week. You could get your items sooner, but probably will pay more so, plan for a week. But you will not be disappointed. I brought them home and was EXTREMELY happy and satisfied with not only the quality of sewing, but all garments fit exactly as they were pinned. Altered to a perfection and worth every penny. The women who work there are very pleasant and hard working. This place is off Belair and in the shopping center as the Vogue cleaners. Easy to find and lots of parking.
