It looked like I bleached my own hair and used a bright box die to color it and my roots were NOT blended into the color at all. My hair is naturally quite thick, but after it was died by this salon, it was very brittle and there was breakage all over. I went in that same evening I got it done to try and get it fixed by the same salon (big mistake) - it still was not what I had asked for. I paid $300 for this and had to pay another $300 to get it fixed at James Salon to color it dark brown to salvage my hair. Not only did I spend a fortune that I wasn't anticipating, but I'm now trying to heal my hair. If you're looking to get a balayage done or any hair coloring, would not recommend going here. It does not seem that training is in place at Gwen's ... however, James Salon is wonderful! Their stylists are highly skilled and you don't need to stress over paying for something that you didn't ask for or being unhappy with your hair. Be smart with your money.

Super dishonest & unprofessional behavior from the manager, Bre…read more I'm more unhappy about the way she handled the problem than I am about the stylist messing up. I would post a picture of the damage but unsurprisingly they've disabled that option for reviews. I recently came in and had a hairstylist "forget" to put barrier cream on my skin before applying permanent black dye to my hair. Not sure how that happens as it is such a basic yet important step. Well she ended up getting a crazy amount of dye all over my forehead. I asked her to please wipe it off because I don't wear foundation and can't just cover it up. Throughout the appointment she is wiping and wiping and irritating my skin & it was just not coming off. I was being a really good sport about it but inside I was getting really stressed out. Come time to pay, i wanted to ask to "talk to the manager" but i honestly just didn't want to be "that person" when I ABSOLUTELY should've made a fuss. The manager, Bre, could see the problem but obviously wasn't going to address it so I asked her hey umm, how long is this going to stay stained like this? She said it would be gone in the morning and starts giving me little "tips and tricks" to make it go away instead of apologizing and acknowledging that it should've never happened in the first place. I definitely should've received a discount or something, or AT LEAST an apology. Instead I paid full price, left a generous tip, and left feeling gaslit. As soon as I got home and looked in the mirror I could see the extent of the damage - that lady obviously knew she lying to my face when she said it'd gone by the morning. I called back frustrated the next day during the afternoon stating that it hasn't faded at all and that I have to go into work like this. I asked for a refund even if just a partial because this is unacceptable. Bre then doubles down giving me ideas on how to remove this and I said I shouldn't have to be dealing with this in the first place. She explains that she did have a talk with the stylist after I left about remembering to use barrier cream - meaning, SHE DID SEE THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE, SHE JUST CHOSE TO NOT TO ADDRESS IT OR MAKE IT RIGHT WITH ME. She had the chance to make it right and she chose not to. She told me that next time I come in they'll remember to use barrier cream.. as if I would ever trust this place to do my hair this place again. It is now 3 days later and I still have traces of dye on my forehead. I know they're going to reply mentioning that they a $25 coupon towards next or (many hours after our phone call) to have me come in so they can try to wipe it some more but I'm not spending any more my time or money here.

Every time I've been to get my hair "layered" at other salons before, it always ended up the same length, and style, that I was frankly getting sick of, so I took the opportunity to bring that up with Jennifer. We opted to go for a long shag to get the three years of dead ends out of the way. Jennifer was easy to talk to, gave the most amazing scalp massage, and made me lose five pounds (of hair) in one sitting while keeping it to a length I was still comfortable with, and bouncing with body. She curled it nicely, didn't push any products down my throat (she did give some recommendations, but the fragrances were much too strong for me) and sent me on the way with a light and happy new do! I'll be returning to this place for Jennifer (probably in less than three years) but definitely requesting a softer-scented shampoo!

I left my name and repeated my number 3 times throughout the voicemail. No one called us back, not on Wednesday, not Thursday, and not even today. Just to clarify, I've followed our stylist and colorist to every location they have moved to in the last 8 years. We are devoted family, and we are willing to pay for great service. So today, I found a Salon who returned my phone call, and got my daughter in today ( her hair cut and color are both amazing)... and the rest of us will have our hair done tomorrow!!! So to the owner of Hair Cafe....This is a $450+ (not including tip) missed opportunity, multiply that sum x 6 (we get our hair done every 8 weeks) therefore you've lost $2700 in future business this year..( it's FUN to spell it out, especially in a down economy...just how important it is to RETURN a business call). A very friendly woman named LACEE (prn: Lay-Cee) did my hair and then we chatted for another 20 minutes after the cut about life, Social Media, et al. She's very smart and personable and did a fine job on my difficult hair. I have 7 cow-licks. Ex-cellent work. Would recommend to anyone. Ask for LACEE!!
