Hair Heaven has a great selection of wigs in various styles, lengths, colors, and textures. I've been a client for 30+ years since they were on Livingston Street in downtown Brooklyn. The shop has remained downtown but is now at 517 Atlantic Avenue near 3rd Avenue. The owner, Joyce, is very patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. The stylist, Julian, is fantastic! Her goal is to ensure you leave the shop pleased. My initial visit was out of necessity due to a scalp condition alopecia, and Joyce and her staff were caring and made me feel very comfortable. The owner Joyce was FANTASTIC. I had no idea what I wanted, or what I was doing because I don't really wear wigs. I went here to pick up my first wig for a special video shoot and it was an amazing experience. I called the day before and the owner walked me through the experience. When I arrived, she greeted me and remembered I called the day before. She let me try on a handful of wigs and their in-shop stylists helped me fit each one to see what it would/could look like. They also offered me any alterations (cut, color, etc.) but the one I found was perfect as is. I went to Hair Heaven about three weeks ago and was honestly shocked by the experience. When I first walked into the store, the vibe was just way off. The black woman who was working there was ridiculously condescending, icy, and her overall attitude made me feel uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the synthetic wigs they have there start at literally $80???? Like where do they do that at? Not even good quality either, which I have no problem paying more for. But not these... lol. On the other side of the store, there are human hair blend wigs. The first one I pointed to (after a long consideration because the pickings were super slim as far as the styles went) I was told it was $700. I had to stop myself from gasping and then bursting out in laughter. Ladies, I've LEGITIMATELY seen better made units on AliExpress. The one I pointed to in particular looked like someone had previously worn it. I also asked if they had several of the wigs in additional colors and they didn't. 1B or nothing. In fact, most of the units that were displayed were the only ones they had left. It was just a deeply disappointing experience. Between the unnecessary rudeness of the owner, the ragged unkempt selection of old lady wigs (no baby hair included lol) that they have the audacity to try and sell for $80+, and the fact that when I went home and looked up one of the $700 human hair blend wigs and found it for 79.99 on Divatress.com... The majority of my questions about merchandise was met with short curt answers and made me feel very uncomfortable as a potential customer. Synthetic wigs were $80 I was ok with that because the service they offer with fitting and trying on as well as cutting the lace for you was a plus. Learned after these synthetic wigs really cost $40. Didn't really care at this point since the customer service was great. Came in today again to start off my journey on human hair whole lace. I had done my research online and saw that price range was 300-$450 for the length I wanted. I saw one with the owner that I loved and she said $750. Found it odd so I asked for the tag to get the name and model and googled it on the spot. The wig was $449. I told her she was really over pricing this wig. She said ok so get it online. It's cheap in every way but you'll still be satisfied. I bought a short wig for $30. Sure the top was a hot mess and it was a bit hard to thin it out because it wasn't the best of quality but I was satisfied. I didn't break my wallet, I looked great and I also get many compliments still. Over all I'd say give it a shot. What an AWESOME experience from the time I walked through the door and was greeted by Marsha, the wig stylist and the owner Joyce!! It was my first time purchasing human hair wigs and the customer service was beyond my expectations. Very friendly and personable, and the wigs were reasonably priced. Marsha helped me pick out the best styles for me based on what I told her I liked. She had me try on several wigs and I walked away with 3 amazing styles which she custom fitted to my head and styled to my liking, which made it look natural. They all were very nice and pleasant to work with. The store began to get crowded, but that didn't phase Marsha because she did not rush. They were very eager to assist me in finding the type of wigs that went well with my facial features. They were very honest with me. I was also pleased to learn that you can drop of your wigs, they will wash and style them for you and you pick them up when they are done. This place is a hidden gem but since its mention in the new Barclays Center- Metrotech BID promo video, its definitely been blowing up ....Probably the best place in the city to get weaves or wigs. Both women were extremely helpful and the shop itself is spacious, clean, and features a line up of chairs where you can try on your wig and feel like a star!
