I looked at a lot of reviews and came across Hair by Edvin. I wanted a short cut to get the rest of the dye off and just basically start over my hair was thin damaged and broken. He sat me down and we discussed my options and what he came up with was a life changer! He gave me the cutest pixie cut, not only does my hair look so healthy, it makes my life so easy being able to style my hair in 5 min! Also Edvin is the sweetest! He makes you feel so comfortable! Reached out to this gentleman early last week. He answered the phone directly, and thought we were off to a good start. After about a minute of conversing about the dates and what I was looking for crew members who were on location for a film shoot, he shared that he himself that he actually rents from the salon we had called, and was independent... but launches into long description Salon is. We responded this was no problem, and ask for his availability on the weekend. He goes into a long explanation of his exceptional attention to detail, and says that he needs to check his schedule - which he doesn't bother to keep on him, but keeps it the SALON. This seems a little weird if he's independent of the salon that he would only have a schedule at the salon, but whatever. We say make sure he has and he promised to call back in the hour. after Sadly, like a lot of of our interactions with stylists / salons in Modesto, this one turns out to be unreliable. He never gets back to us. Apparently he feels that it's humane or right to just drop the matter. What's even more absurd is he believes he's a hair professional (going on and on about how great one is, how great his salon is, promising to get back in an hour - and then dropping it is not professional by ANY standard!) We've fortunately booked several services with GLOSS. Do not recommend this stylist... he likely will not follow through on his word. read more

The review is based my overall experience as a first time customer with Vitalle Elements. My normal hair salon is in the Berryessa. Since moving in the area, I felt that I need to find a salon closer to home. The ravings reviews drew me to Vitalle Elements and it was only a 5 minutes drive from home. Being a first timer to Vitalle Ellements, I had a consultation call with Edvin on 4/14/21 of what I wanted to get done. In this consultation, he asked for my background so he knows what type of hair he will be dealing with. I gladly gave him and thought wow this guys must've experienced with all types of hairs and I was so excited to have appointment for 4/20/21. 4/20/21 came- I got to the shop 10 minutes before my 2pm appointment. They have a sign up (for Covid safety) saying 'please wait outside or in your car until you are called for your appointment.' So being a first timer, I stood outside the door and waited to see if someone will come out front to check me in or something. They have a camera pointing at the door, so for sure I thought maybe they will see me out front. 2:00pm came, still no one came out front nor did I receive a ph call. 2:10pm now, finally a staff member walked by and saw me standing there, he said hello and kept on walking back to his salon room. Ok? 2:15pm, I went looking for this staff member as his room is closer to the entrance door and told him that I've been waiting for my appointment and no one has checked me in or anything. He was nice to look for Edvin and told him I was there. Edvin came out told me to have a seat in the lobby area, offered me water and apologized that he was running late with time. I waited some more. 2:45pm, Edvin finally came to grab me. I was already regretting having to come there and wait only to been seen 45 minutes after my appointment time that I had planned my whole day around. I told Edvin what I wanted (same as when we spoke for consultation). He ran his fingers through my hair one time- and said, 'If I color your hair, I won't be able to sleep tonight.' He went on to say why he will not color my hair- it will damage my hair even more (a risk I've been taking multiple times in my life), my hair is too black, bleach will leave my hair orange etc. I am Polynesian and I have thick and natural dark Polynesian hair. I was actually shocked inside. This is the first time ever in my life, a salon declined my request to color my hair :( But he said he will give me a haircut instead. He seemed genuine so I told him ok- do what you think is best. My hair was already short. Edvin gave me long layers. He was funny- giving me tips and advice throughout my session. He's really cool and seemed to love what he does. I enjoyed the experience with him. Hair washed, cut, blow dryed/style was $90. I walked out 40 minutes later feeling beautiful with my haircut. Thank you Edvin. Although I loved my new haircut, I was very disappointed that I didn't get my hair colored as initially planned and mentioned in my consultation. If Edvin had mentioned to me in my consultation that he won't color thick and dark Polynesian hair, then I wouldn't have gone to Vitalle Elements. I would've saved both us time that day and just make the trip to my usual hair salon in Berryessa. I've been to other salons who happily color/highlighted my thick and black Polynesian hair, and no it did not turn orange. It was time-consuming but they did it and I was happy to pay up. Although Edvin was nice, cool, and seemed genuine, I felt that the minute he ran his fingers through my hair, he realized that my hair will take at least 2 hours or so and he was like nope can't do it lol. read more

I found this salon through Yelp and decided to give it a go. For a few months now I was thinking about a new hair style that would be light, airy and perhaps shorter. I messaged the salon and got very fast response from Ed the owner to come in. He was very professional and yet warm, provided a consultation, and asked me what I wanted to do with my hair. We bought agreed that he should go ahead and "do his thing" - meaning he can try a new thing with my hair. I have to say I never had my hair cut by a man nor do I go to salons very often. Best short hair cut ever!! I called this salon very last minute to request a hair cut within the next few minutes and Edwin was so gracious to take me in. He had a last minute cancellation, just my luck! When I arrived he met me outside of the salon and he was so kind from the beginning. When he washed my hair he gave me such a nice scalp massage. I told him that I wanted a blunt semi a line bob and he gave me the best haircut I've ever had. I had previously gone to an Ulta salon and when I requested the same cut she had insisted I HAD to get many layers to achieve that look, bad idea. Well Edwin didn't have to add layers and it came out even more beautiful. If you're looking for a place to get a short hair cut come here!! I found this place on Yelp and it had such great reviews and 5 stars all around. I haven't cut my hair in a year or so and I DEFINITELY haven't been to a salon in years! I usually just wear my hair up and in a braid, but I was looking to go back to my hairstyle a few years ago. BANGS! I decided to make an appointment. It was rather late at night so I didn't expect a response quickly. In the morning, I was greeted with a very pleasant text asking me when I was available and what I was looking to do. The text conversation was quick and easily understandable. I was impressed. I was welcomed into a quaint, clean and beautiful salon. Right away, I was asked by a gentleman if I would like some water. He brought me some and asked for my name. As I replied, he then continued until the end of the appointment to use my name. He sat me down and asked me to take my hair out of the braid and ponytail. He then told me my hair was in dire need of a trim (which I did not oppose). He took me to get my hair washed first. A wonderful smelling shampoo and conditioner and a relaxing and much needed scalp massage. Perfect after a hard day of work. We went back to the chair and asked to see a picture of me with bangs. When I showed him, he complimented me and said that it was definitely doable! He then trimmed my hair and knew exactly how much needed to be removed and then proceeded to blow dry my hair. During the blow dry, he informed me that getting my bangs back might be difficult because I needed to re-train them to fall forward. I asked him, what would he suggest I do. Get the bangs anyway? Or get a different hairstyle? He just continued to blow dry. When he was done, he pulled my long bangs forward and cut them. He cleaned them up and showed me in the mirror. I was shocked, it was like seeing myself from years ago. I LOVED IT!! I could not stop smiling. All the while, he was making conversation. It flipped flopped between personal and professional. I felt as though I was talking to an old friend. It was welcoming and humbling. Edvin is a very interesting person and he has the skills of a master. I would infinitely tell people about this place.
