Came here for the Shakshouska and was blown away by how good it was. Great balance of veggies, eggs, and wasn't too salty at all. Must try!

We had the Israeli salad, bread, babaganush, and four skewers (not fatty lamb ribs, salmon, lalya, and chicken wings). We enjoyed everything except the lalya- never had it before. The service was quick, food came out quick and dishes were cleared quick too! We tried a variety of kebabs and a mushroom cheburechki. The mushroom cheburechki was my favorite thing this evening but everything else was pretty good too! Portions were big and prices were reasonable. My takes on each dish: 1) cheburechnaya salad - light but flavorful, good to pick on with your meal. I like the avocado on top. Small portion is good enough for 2. 2) thin cut fries - like shoestring, really unique. Half portion is good enough for 2. 3) mushroom cheburechki - crispy but juicy, delicious with sauce. Definitely try this! 4) veal liver kebab: good when hot but I think one or two bite is enough because liver taste is strong.. if you like liver definitely get it, otherwise can skip. 5) lamb kebab: good, juicy. Definitely eat while hot, can be tough while cooler. A nice basic taste, nothing too weird. 6) sweetbread kebab: not my favorite it tastes a bit too fatty without justifying the fat. 7) lulya kebab: one of my favorites. It's a ground meat kebab and it's very juicy. Definitely get it! 8) beef skirt kebab: maybe my favorite one. It tastes like a juicy steak bite. 9) no fat lamb ribs: second favorite. The seasoning is good. A bit gamier than the basic lamb kebab. Overall we enjoyed the meal and will be back to try some other items! The only gripe is that the meat is a bit rare and I would not like to eat organ meat with some blood in it. My stomach was not used to it even the next day. Not sick but not feeling my normal self. I suggest them cook the organ meats more well-done next time for food safety.

There are many other options in the area, but I have always come enjoyed this place, and now I treasure it more than ever before. The decor is a bit loud and gaudy for me personally. I always preferred the interior design of Taste of Samarkand or Art of Grill, but I'm okay with Stix's decor because it's bright and clean. More importantly, I love the food at this place. Every time I come here, it's absolutely fantastic. They shine at grilling skewers, so I'll start with that. You really can't go wrong, but I would always get the lamb, lamb ribs, beef, baby chicken, chicken w/ bones, and sea bass. The lola kebab and the chicken lola kebab are not bad, but definitely better at Art of Grill. For the more adventurous, try the veal sweet bread, veal liver, and lamb fat. The only kebabs I am not a big fan of here are the quail. As for appetizers, you have to get their flavorful Uzbek mantu. However, crispy cheburek and flaky samsa are both excellent too. Herring Garnish is very tasty as well. Moving onto salads, I typically order the Humus and Babaganush for dipping with the Tandoori Bread. Korean Carrot is also a nice starter. If you are fond of soup, then I highly recommend Osh-Potche. Lastly, Asian Pilaf is a nice way to end the meal when dining at an Uzbek restaurant, though I think their version is average. When all is said and done, every meal is always amazing. The cost of the meal is always reasonable. And a good time is always had by all every time.

Went inside, and it felt like I was transported elsewhere and not in NYC. I liked how the entire place was decorated. There's room to move around and private sections that are closed off with curtains. Food wise, there were two menus, one that was a tablet which had more options and this other large black book. I suggest looking at the tablet. It took a while to decide what we wanted as there were so many sections. I chose the two soups, which were the dumpling langman soup and the shurpa soup. One tasted like chicken soup but with lamb instead. However, both were pretty small. For the table, we got the Manti soup dumplings, which had minced beef inside with soup inside too and beware it is hot. Also, we got the shepherds salad, but they don't have feta cheese, so we got it without that one ingredient. I would suggest this restaurant if you're interested in trying something unique such as Uzbek food.

We tried several dishes from here and they were all good quality. The best dish we had was their plov (pilaf). The meat was very juicy and the rice is so flavorful with the sauces mixed into it. The prices are very reasonable and comparable to similar restaurants in the neighborhood. My main criticism is that they are a little cheap with the portion sizes. For example, the plov was mostly rice with only a few pieces of meat. There are other Uzbek restaurants in the neighborhood that are much more generous, like Sashlichnaya across the street.

I tired their brisket sandwich - a bit fatty, but very tasty, but expensive ($23) for the portion size they give you compared to the "big" Jewish delis like Katz's, Second Avenue, Mill Basin, David's Brisket House, Sarge's, etc. Those delis are about 25% more expensive, but they give you at least double the portion. But I'm really glad we still have this place because the area is turning into a vast majority of chain fast food garbage. The other kind of weird thing about this place is that they're open 9am-6:30pm weekdays and 9am-5:30pm weekends, but they don't serve any breakfast foods AFAIK. Do people eat knishes for breakfast? I'd love to see them open more like 11:30-9pm, so I could grab a snack or dinner late in the day. Also, they need to clean up the front of the store which is quite messy and doesn't lend itself to sitting and eating.
