I very rarely bother to leave a review for a restaurant. If I don't like a place I simply don't go there again. People at this cheap place called Haida compelled me to do so. I went to this location with my wife for the first time about 3 weeks before I write this review. We ordered two sandwiches which were the most expensive ones on their menu (~$28 or so before tax), I guess they were called Dragon. Just when I made the payment, the lady behind the counter apologized and told me they don't have that item. "That's OK", I said and picked the next most expensive sadnwitch. To my surprise the staff told me they can't refund the ~$18 difference for the pair of sandwiches at the location but took my phone number and email to do so later. It never happened. I called them one week later and the lady behind the phone told me they would call back in an hour which also never happened. I really did not want to bother for just $18 but then I thought these cheap folks should not get to continue this kind of unprofessional behaviour without a public announcement. I'm Persian and these people present themselves as an Iranian business in town while they only bring shame and bad reputation to all Iranian businesses around here with their fraudulant actions. At the restaurant the lady who "apparently" made the mistake told me she was new and was learning, and I did not say a word and stayed completely polite, trusting that they would e-transfer the refund. Their food is pure diarrhea by the way. Don't waste your money here. You can easily find other places that actually look like legit restaurants where you get a regular chair behind a table with good sandwiches to eat. read more

As my first visit to this place, I was very disppointed. I ordered a pizza. It cost $22 + tax + tip. Here is my feedback: 1. The worst pizza I have ever had 2. Pizza did not resemble any pictures in the store or Yelp 3. The crust was so dry and hard I could barely chew it 4. It was smaller than the smallest pizza in any store. It was the size of a very small personal pizza. 5. It was tasteless and had excessive thyme on it which overpowered the food Also, I waited 30 minutes for the pizza which made it even worse given the size, flavor, and quality. It's a very small place but with lots of options and good food. The restaurant can easily be missed but it's right on a corner at a roundabout in North York. I like the area and the various options although I do find the prices for the food to be quite high for what you get. I tried the veggie pizza ($16.99). It came with 8 pieces (rectangular). The pizza took a long time to make (I like that it's fresh and made to order, but I would recommend ordering in advance to avoid having to wait at the restaurant). The pizza also tasted different from traditional pizzas I've had in the past. There is also space for seating outdoors. I'd recommend trying it at least once. We ordered sandwiches for takeout. From their warm sandwiches menu, we chose "Roast Beef Special " and "Grilled Chicken Special " and from their cold sandwiches menu, we ordered "Haida Special". Roast Beef Special sandwich tasted ok, but nothing special about it. But I really liked the Grilled Chicken Special; good combination and amount of spices were used and it was cooked the right amount of time. Haida Special (cold) sandwich was good, too. If I want to choose from their menu again, I would choose the Grilled Chicken Special. read more

Atmosphere/Service: The place was really small, that's not really recommended for parties bigger than 3. It's a cute place to grab your food and go, except the parking issue. Not really a lot of place to park and grab your food either if you do plan to dine in, the chairs they have are all really hard to climb onto..... or maybe that's because I'm short but I found it difficult and a hassle to get off of. The service was okay as the cashier did recommend the Haida special. Menu/food: Food was decent. I got the Haida Pizza and thought that they were very generous with the toppings on the pizza. It consisted of beef and chicken deli, mozzarella cheese, beef sausage, mushroom, green pepper, olive, special sauce, and ketchup onto of potato sticks onto of a sandwich bun that they apparently made in house. It was definitely not what I was expecting. it was crunchy and meaty which was surprising. The special sauce was some sort of mayo base that I drenched on Overall: Overall, definitely worth a visit..... but once is probably enough for me as I don't really live near the area. Change that and come to Haida, where I have only experienced the most consistently hot sandwich, which packs this crazy insane flavour I can only describe as a pizza pop on TREN. Pizza sandwich( call ahead and save 20 mins - $11): delicious chicken and beef all cut up into little pieces, baked with hickory sticks, peppers and mushrooms and cheese, on a 10 inch sub. The tangy mayo has these spices that can't be matched, and on a late night after a couple of heavy handed drinks the sandwich calls to you like a siren in the dark. read more

We had a craving for roast beef sandwich so decided to check this place out. We got the Roast Beef Special (warm sandwich) and the Haida Hot (warm sandwich) with chicken. The lady helping me didn't speak English and I ended up pointing at the menu. The roast beef sandwich which was $12.99 was a foot long. The roast beef want more of a shaved roast beef deli type roast beef which want what we wanted but oh well. The sandwich was suppose to come with mushrooms but we didn't get any... Actually we got one mushroom (see picture). Not impressed. The size of the sandwich was decent, but I expected it to be large enough considering the price. The Haida Hot sandwich was okay. The chicken is more the deli chicken and not grilled chicken. The potato sticks are not Hickory Sticks... Probably a different brand. I would be giving 3 stars because our experience was only okay but the fact we only got a small piece of mushroom, I'm giving 2 stars. You're better off spending your money at Sushi Bong... Heard a lot of great things about this place but never convinced myself to step in when there is so much selection in the area. Finally, today was the day I would try one of these sandwiches. The cashiers who took my order were very nice and took the time to tell me the popular sandwiches. I chose the Pizza Sandwich which is similar to other "sub" like sandwiches but mixed and sauces together. First thing I noticed when I received my sandwich is how heavy it was, which could only mean it is packed with ingredients. With the first bite, tho it didn't look like a pizza, it sure tasted like a juicy pizza. I also enjoyed the potato sticks which brought me back to a bag of hickory sticks. I wondered if I could finish the hefty sandwich only to realize I could hardly finish half! In the future, I might try another less saucy sandwich and most likely find someone to share it with. read more

I tried them because I had good experience back in IRAN. But I have to say I am completely disappointed. I ordered 3 sandwiches after 20 minutes they said they don't have enough bread. Really!!! I thought I would try their Haida sandwich since apparently it was their specialty. Sadly I was left a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible sandwich, but it's also not the best one that I've ever had in my entire life. Do I have high standards? Maybe. Am I upset about it? Not really. On the plus side, they're definitely not stingy on the toppings or on the meat, and the sauce was actually pretty delicious. It just wasn't what I was expecting. Delicious deli sandwiches that are absolutely MASSIVE! I ordered the Haida sandwich and shared it with two others for lunch because it was simply too big for one meal. The ingredients were fresh and toppings generous. It definitely blows any other sandwich out of the water. This was delicious! I tried their Haida pizza on a weeknight and they put so much ingredients on the top. The pizza crust is on the thin side but it's very cheesy! Visited on Monday evening for the first time. Service was friendly, ordered a pizza sub, guy said it would take 10-15 min. Went back to my car which was parked in a no parking zone, because parking is really hard to get in that busy little area fyi. Came back in 15min and it was ready. Portion size was great but the quality of meat isn't really worth the $10 with tax. It was overflowing with a Persian sauce too which is ok, not that crazy about it. Honestly for same price I rather get a prime rib or Angus sub from Quiznos. My Persian buddy said its more for expats from Iran because this is the type of fast food they get there, and they put ketchup on pizza. It reminds them of home. For non Persians I'd say try it once if you in the area, but there is definitely better options for a $10 sandwich. read more

A buddy of mine showed me this sandwich shop and since then I've become addicted. This place is like Subway on steroids. Their sandwiches are massive and taste amazing. For $8.99, it's too good to be true. North York location I don't want to even give one star rating. I ordered one sandwich and waited for half an hour and inquired. And the girl behind the counter said to come back in 10 mins. I was tired of waiting so I sent my boyfriend back. He waited another 15 minutes and then he inquired. He was told that I already picked up the sandwich and he told her that we didn't have the sandwich. Needless to say we waited over 45 minutes and still nothing. Very tasty sandwiches. I recommend Royal Sandwich which is loaded with lots of hotdogs and deli. The sauce is great and I always ask for double sauce + parsley to add more freshness. The Haida Pizza is also great but sometimes is better than the other times and I think for the size and the fact that it's almost a takeout place, it's a bit overpriced, that being said, I'd say the sandwiches and pizza are good for 2 (not overly hungry) people. read more

I waited 25 minutes for 3 sandwiches and ended up canceling my order as the staff were not sure how long more I had to wait. It got worse when I couldn't get my refund as the staff were not allowed to refund through the POS machine. I made so many calls including 6 calls to store and 5 calls to the manager to get my refund back after almost 24 hours. Staff did not seem to know about the Groupon deal going on and dismissed my attempts to order while taking orders from her normal Persian customers. Finally she made a phone call and then said she can take my order now. She did not know how to scan the bar-code from her phone.. I admit I was a bit impatient at that point and asked to do it for her. Then finally when I ordered, I waited for at least 20 minutes before the sandwich was ready. I don't often lose my patience but they definitely provide friendlier and quicker service to customers of their own ethnic origin. She charged me $4 on top of my $12 voucher which did not make sense or was specified in the voucher, but she said that's what I need to pay. Aside from the slowest and most horrible service experienced, the sandwich is pretty good. The Pizza Sandwich and the Haida Sandwich were large in portion and packed with meat. I recently discovered this little shop that serves submarine sandwiches like no other I've ever had, although I admit I don't frequent Persian restaurants too frequently, but the ones I've been to don't serve up subs. I had the Hot Beef Jambon sub, which was sliced processed beef, mayo, crunchy pickles, tomato, and the ingredient that blew me away - hickory sticks, like the type made by Hostess that comes in a cellophane bag. I really like the bread the sub came on; it was a little crusty on the outside but not so crusty that it hurt to eat. At $8.99 for a sub, at first I thought it was a bit expensive, but seeing that the beef was piled up over an inch thick and it took me two meals to finish it (I'm not a hefty eater though), I didn't mind the price too much. The meat is nothing to write home about, it's just processed meat, but the hickory sticks, mayo, and bread really make the sandwich unique. I had a pistachio milkshake and a footlong warm chicken sandwich. The milkshake was just...ok. I didn't feel too much pistachio flavor. For that price, I wouldn't do again. I ordered because I've never seen pistachio milkshake before. The sandwich was pretty good. Inside was quite a lot of chicken in some kind of white mayo sauce, with various greens and herbs. The flavor is mostly coming from the sauce and the herbs. The chicken is just chicken. This combination of ingredients didn't blow my mind. It is miles above any of the chain sandwich shops.
