Blue Sky Lotus Energy Drink
Aalia A.

I came here for the first time and it was great. The açaí bowl was probably one of the best i've ever tried. The lotus energy drink had a very unexpected taste, but also probably one of the best energy drinks i've tried. Tasted just like an ICEE. Finally matcha latte didn't have the best matcha flavor. The service was very nice as well. The employee explained things on the menu to me which was nice. Also everything came out very quick which was cool. The interior overall was comfy and cutesy.

Stopped in for a smoothie, and it was very good. Joint is always packed, and still very fast accurate service.

There were only a couple of empty tables in there, but that changed quickly and within 5 minutes there was a wait of 20-30 mins. Our server "TT" took our orders right away and the entire time we were there no one's beverage got even close to empty. Considering how many tables she had, the amount of attention she dedicated to us was impressive. The food was great! Biscuits and gravy, hash browns and bacon were yummy as were the waffles. For 4 adults the tab came to $52 with drinks, before tip. Not a bad value especially since 3 of us took half of our food to go because the portions are so large. We will be back next time we're in town!

We stopped in on a day's drive from Kansas City to Chicago, due to the quantity and quality of reviews all over the internets, very much including Yelp! We were hungry and in need of some energy for lunch, and Charlie Parker's delivered on both! The place looks like a small military airplane hangar, but don't be fooled: inside is some of the best greasy spoon food you could wish for in the Midwest! The dining room is bright, tight, and fun, decorated to the inch by fun, colorful and humorous memorabilia! We ordered, and were served just a few quick minutes later. Each platter (correct word!) was stuffed with awesome, tasty food! Amongst the four of us, we had some sweet and some savory options, and we all tried each others! We all agreed - the food was delicious! When the bill came and printed at the bottom was a number less than $100, less than $50, I almost lost my mind! We were STUFFED to the gills with awesome diner fare, and our bill was barely $40! How did this happen? I pray this place is somehow eeking out a profit, as I seriously can't remember getting so much awesome food for so little cost in a sit-down restaurant. If it IS making money, then MAJOR kudos to the owner - this business model should be copied throughout the land. Food = 4/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 4/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 6/5

Having previously visited the Peoria location, I was looking forward to a similarly enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell short of my expectations. I started with the buffalo cauliflower bites, and they were easily the highlight of my meal! They were absolutely delicious and honestly the one thing I truly enjoyed during my visit. Unfortunately, things went downhill with my entrée. I ordered the salmon, and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The taste and texture were incredibly off-putting, almost as though I wasn't eating real salmon. It simply didn't taste right, and I couldn't enjoy it. What made the experience even more frustrating was the lack of attentive service. My server never returned to check on my meal or ask how everything was going. By the time they came back, it was only to offer me the check and a to-go container. I didn't even have an opportunity to express my disappointment with the salmon or give the restaurant a chance to address the issue. The ambiance also didn't quite measure up to what I remembered from the Peoria location, which I found much more enjoyable. Overall, the buffalo cauliflower bites were a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing dinner. Between the unpleasant entrée, inattentive service, and underwhelming atmosphere, I can't say I'd be eager to return to this location. Hopefully, my experience was an exception rather than the norm.

However, I approve of some of the reviews as they do a nice job of describing the vibe. PAPO! I just wanted to type/yell that word because it feels fun to me! The cafe's name is in reference to both of his grandfathers, just an fyi. Okay, so Papo's (even though I'm not using all caps, I'm still shouting it) is a locally owned cafe. They thought of all the things by including a drive-thru, plenty of seating inside, a party space you can rent out, etc. It goes head-to-head with other corporate competitors that shall not receive free advertising from moi. I really like their setup, you have to walk towards the back of the space to put in your order at the counter. It reminds me of eating at a posh children's museum or aquarium. A lot of variety, many healthy choices, and some sweets here and there. It's designed to guide you through choosing a drink, grabbing a side, ordering food and coffee, then grabbing a seat while its being prepared. The food is made in-house, and it shows. I ordered an Açaí bowl and tried a donut. Delicious! My daughter loved her avocado toast+egg+balsamic glaze. My husband ate his food so quickly, I'm not even sure what he had! All that to say, it's very good and it's quite small. I was a little surprised, as the Açaí bowl was $10.99 and the same size I would give to a child. So, be ready for that and order more so you don't have to go up twice. The design is alright, it seems to be more of a minimal aesthetic. I took a picture of the buffet area near the seating as an example. It looks like there should be more there, not sure what but I'm guessing it too was affected by the pandemic. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful that the trend of the early 2000's is a faded memory. No, it's not cool to put street signs, sarcastic signs, clever signs, skis, fishing poles, and other tchotchkes on the wall. I digress. Papo's is nice, the food is quality, and I would recommend checking them out. Be sure to grab a donut with fruit loops on it before heading out! That alone is worth the trip.

Papo's Cafe has become a staple in my Saturday morning routine and for good reason! Yes, there are plenty of sweet treats, muffins, cake pops, etc. which I always look at and sniff but have yet to indulge in. What hits home for me? The meat lovers bowl is packed with protein and a dollop of avocado adds a healthy creaminess that you don't have to feel guilty about. In a world full of cheat codes this is one choice you don't have to feel bad about. Treat yourself to a beautiful setting (the restaurant is clean and inviting) and a top tier meal, this has been the perfect way to decompress after a good pump!
