I like the convenience of the location and the coffee. The line was not too long but they're kinda slow on service. The customer service was not bad. I did feel like for a small coffee the price was a bit much for the size of the cup. I've gotten more coffee for less at other spots. The coffee is bold and I enjoyed it.. I don't think I personally would be a regular but I am very much delighted to know they have a variety of pastries and chai lattes and teas. I will be back for that next visit.

Fabulous cold brew and oatmilk latte and the best service. Grab-A-Java is consistently excellent, and today was outstanding as one person was working and they were just so cool under pressure with a long line of customers. And the muffins-get out of here! They are so good. Both locations are amazing and the folks worked all through the pandemic. Tip them!!! Thank you!

We headed out to Springfield since neither of us had been down there for awhile. First stop was... Custom Cup Coffee to get us caffeinated for an afternoon of shenanigans. We dropped in to a cozy little coffeehouse. This place had been on my list for awhile and on the way down, I gave Em a list of local coffee places we can try and this is the one that she picked and what a great choice it was. I got my usual Americano and Emily got the Beekeeper. Along with my love of coffee, I do love stickers and grabbed a giant one for $4 and the barista hooked us up with some free little ones. Score! They do have a small food menu, too, if you come here and need something to compliment your caffeinated drink. I usually look around and snap a few photos while waiting but I barely got turned around before my drink was being called out. That's the fastest I've ever gotten an Americano. Emily's drink was not far behind. Granted we had no one in front of us when we ordered, it was Jimmy Johns level of freaky fast. We were going to sit outside but they were putting up their outside furniture for some reason so we took a seat inside. This Americano was spot-on for what I crave when I want one. Not only was it tasty but for being 20oz, it somehow lasted me until we walked over to Buzz Bomb Brewing Co. and I started drinking a beer. Emily was in love with her latte and let me have a little sip and wow... it was delicious. It was no surprise that she finished her drink in half the time it took me to finish mine. All in all, Custom Cup Coffee had super friendly baristas, a quaint and cozy interior with a little bit of seating and super delicious coffee.

I highly recommend coffee here. I got a cortado and it was excellent. If you don't know your…read morecoffees well though, just know cortados are going to be much smaller volume in a bigger sized cup (unless the store specifically has smaller sized cups). My son was holding my coffee and was like, "Mom, they didn't give you a lot of coffee." I had to explain it was how the cortado was suppose to be made and I expected the cup not to be full. Anywho...it was excellent flavor, brewed correctly and the steamed milk did not over power the espresso itself. Very nice cup. Now, I do wish my brain had been functioned correctly because I came in to order bagels for some camp kiddos for breakfast the next day. I asked if they were house made or brought in. As soon as I was told they weren't house made I should have ended my order with the cortado. However, I wasn't thinking and was in a hurry to get back on the road. I ordered 5 bagels, 3 with cream cheese and 2 with butter. I expected to be charged some for cream cheese, but thought butter would be free. It isn't, they charge for it. I didn't know if there would be butter available at the camp the next morning so I just ordered it anyways. I think butter should always be free with bagels/bread/toast/etc. these bagels were like bagels I would buy at Walmart...but instead of paying like $2-$4 (great value or Thomas brands) for 6 bagels. I needed up paying about $4 a bagel! again, wasn't thinking or I would have canceled out the bagels. It wasn't until it would have been awkwardly too late to cancel them bagging them and asking for a refund that I realized how much I had just spent. Then when I saw the bagels, my gut just kind of dropped, cause they were not great quality bagels. But, kids had food the next morning and it wasn't the end of the world. Learned a lesson. They did cut the bagels in half which would have bothered me more if they weren't for kids but again would have been nice for them to ask first as we weren't eating them that day. However, despite the bagels, I'd still recommend trying them out, especially for coffee. They looked like they had some good bakery options, salads looked fresh and full of ingredients, and they had lots and lots on their menu!

I sat back with K.W. in one of the window-side chairs, letting the mug steam gently into the late-morning light, and took in the interior. It's the kind of place that rewards attention: reclaimed wood, soft colors, seating that invites rather than insists. This was not an Instagram café--it was a Christian coffee shop. And I mean that as praise. I don't just mean it had a verse on the wall or worship music humming faintly behind the grinder. I mean the place carried a spirit of care. You could feel it in the details, the warmth of the baristas, and--most of all--in the baby shower happening quietly in the side room. From what I could tell, it was all women--close family friends of the expectant mother--gathered in soft tones, with gifts, cake, and affection flowing. There were balloons. Laughter. Maybe a tear or two, but the joyful kind. I thought about the holiness of childhood, the ridiculous courage of parenting, and the spiritual stubbornness it takes to keep loving in public. There are many ways to do Christianity poorly. But when it holds space for reflection, for the protection of the vulnerable--children, the poor, the disabled--it becomes something rare and tender. Guest House feels like one of those places where such values are quietly lived out, without announcement or ego. I'll be back. For the chai. For the ambience. But mostly to support a place that, in its own gentle way, remembers what a gift life is.

Be our guest and stay awhile…read more.. What once used to be By the Bean is now and has been for awhile Guest House Coffee and Pastries. This has been on my list for awhile now and with Emily and I heading to St. Louis to catch a flight to Colorado, it was the perfect time to get some caffeine before we embarked on a long day of traveling. We popped in a bit before lunch and were greeted by a friendly barista. He took our order fairly quickly and then we took a seat while we waited... and waited... and waited. There was 2 people ahead of us and it took about 10 minutes for our drinks to come out and a few minutes after that to get our baked goods. I got a peanut butter cookie and Emily got a lemon blueberry thingy. Sorry, I'm not great at knowing which is which when it comes to baked goodies. Once we got our goods, we made a beeline for the interstate. This is when I decided to try their cold brew and wow... it was the punch of bitterness that I love. Sometimes places pull back on the bitter but not at Guest House. After a few sips, I tried my peanut butter cookie and found it sorely lacking. I thought it was going to be soft but it was hard, crumbly and dry. I'm not sure if they can warm them up before serving them to you but if I could've had that, it may have helped a lot. I eventually ate most of it but really wish I had some milk to dip it in. I don't remember what Emily got but she seemed to really enjoy it. As for her lemon blueberry item, she said it was dry but that's normal for what it is. I tried a nibble and the flavor was definitely on point. It's not something I would've enjoyed but she seemed to really like it. As for the Guest House overall, I liked that they kept a lot of the decor from By the Bean. I was happy to see the doors that were previously there still there. If we weren't trying to get our stuff and get out ASAP, the wait time wouldn't have been a problem and with that in mind, I don't factor it into my score. We did leave wondering why there was one guy up front and what seemed like 2 employees in the back. But that's neither here nor there at this point. I would definitely come back to Guest House and maybe try to see if they would warm up their cookies before devouring them.
