So a group of us visited early on a weekend morning. But I thought it was just ok. My first impression was that it needed a good cleaning. After ordering we sat in a small grouping of chairs, and the floor looked like it hadn't been swept for some time. Crumbs and dirt were scattered around the chairs and in the corner. The trash container was spattered and sticky on the top and sides. Most of the spatters looked old and dried. And there were some annoying flies buzzing around. Two customers came in with a dog, ordered, sat down at a table, and then scattered food on top of the table for the dog to eat. The dog put his paws on the table and ate the food off the table. Now, I love a dog-friendly outdoor patio where I can take my dog but I was surprised that a dog was allowed to eat off a table inside a restaurant. And I didn't see anyone cleaning the table that the dog ate from after the dog and his owners left. Our lattes and macchiatos were good and prices were reasonable.

My fiance, daughter and I just moved here from Las Vegas in September and we have been missing our elote (Mexican corn), paletas (ice cream) and more! Their ice cream is all freshly made and all natural. Same with their popsicles, you can see the real fruit in them and there are so many options to choose from. My grandma and I went yesterday and my grandma got the milk mango popsicle and I got the watermelon one and they were both phenomenal. I also would highly recommend the Mexican corn, it's my absolute favorite and any of the agua frescas. Basically water based refreshments. I got the watermelon one, of course and it tastes like drinking through a watermelon with a straw. My grandma got the horchata and that is rice milk with cinnamon. We will probably be going back today, too!

But you get to take in the fresh air and relax while watching people and dogs walk by. I got the Sweet basil gelato, which was picked precisely because it sounded weird. And honestly? It was delicious but it tasted more like matcha than basil, but either way I was fine with it. The people working were so nice as well. A little pricey but the gelato is very rich and you dont need much of it. Cute place, I would definitely return!

Six picnic tables provide ample space for large groups to hang out while finishing their ice cream. The only issue I ever have is the prices which can be a bit high, depending on which size and type of frozen treat you order. Specifically, I think the $4 size does not have enough more than the $2 size to be worth it.

They refused to provide a refund or replace the order with something else. The only English speaking lady claimed there was no manager in the building, and later claimed she was the manager. She claimed that if she gave my friend a refund, she would get fired, and resulted in police needing to be contacted. I order a taiyaki and it was burnt and overcooked. Had to wait +30 mins. Italian soda was also 90% ice. DO NOT COME HERE. Ambiance was meh.

Dolce Anna is a short ride from Springfield, IL, and certainly worth a trip if you love gelato (or…read moreif you've never tried it before). The hours are limited- currently opening at 5 pm Wednesday-Sunday. There will be a line at opening, and for the best selection, don't delay. When it's sold out for the night- it's sold out. The case holds 12 amazing flavors. We always buy a pint or 2 and it's become a weekly visit. Flavors change- we have a sampled Caramel Mou, Moccacino, Pistachio with Cervia Sea Salt, Limoncello, Cantaloupe, and a Cheesecake variety. My personal favorites are Moccacino (coffee and chocolate-yum!), and Limoncello (tart lemony and refreshing). My gelato partner loves the pistachio. I think it's a husband and wife team working and you will hear Italian spoken, as this is true Italian gelato. They are friendly and the small shop gets people through timely, although you can try samples, and that does slow up the line a bit. On a chilly Friday evening in spring there were about a dozen people in line at opening- and a recent Saturday night had nearly all flavors gone shortly after 8 pm. Follow them on Facebook (no website at this time) to see the latest offerings, which occasionally include actual cheesecakes and cannoli.
