I just came here for my second massage and I've got to say I'm so happy this place opened! My first time I just had a general 1 hour massage with Anna which was great, but I came back this time because I was having a lot of pain in a particular area on my back. I tried asking my husband to massage me, but I gave up haha. I definitely recommend telling them if you have any problem areas or places you want to focus on. Maggie really catered to that and I feel so much better now! I could tell Maggie was very knowledgeable because even though I was having pain in the middle of my back, she really focused on my hip and shoulder. She followed the tension in my back to those areas and massaging them finally gave me relief! The ambiance is very calm and it's a sweet little spa! Everyone I've met is very friendly. Yesterday, I enjoyed the house special (massage + cupping for 75 mins) with Hadley. I came across this establishment from my cousin who found them via Yelp. He came home a few weeks prior ranting and raving about how Hadley worked wonders on his back and that it was the best massage he's had yet. Long review because ya'll need to know the truth. I went for the first time to get an ashiatsu massage from them because the yelp reviews were good and it was close to my house. Man I am never going back!! My body feels wrecked, believe it or not I actually feel worse now than I did before the massage! I'm not a "soft" person, I'm a retired rugby player, I work out regularly, I'm a strength and conditioning coach, and I have much experience with GOOD therapists of many different modalities. This is hands down one of the worst "massages" I've ever gotten in my life. My whole body feels like it was abused for 1 hour basically. Problems I have today that I didn't have prior to massage: my neck hurts, my low back hurts (I have been pain free and free from irritation for like 99% of the time), the rest of my back is sore, my legs are sore. I basically feel like I played a rugby game! Wow. How this started: I wrote an email to ask about the massage and I wrote a short blurb about how I had ankle surgery last year and I wanted some extra attention to my leg, and that it had been a while since I had a massage. I'm a reiki master so I'm sensitive to energy, and I can tell if a therapist has good intuitive capabilities (in conjunction with being knowledgeable and skilled), so it's been difficult for me to find someone who truly does a stellar job. My old massage therapist back in Humboldt was THE BEST EVER, and my ashiatsu experiences with her were night and day with this place. Anyways, they reply saying they can do whatever and it's all good, so I set an appointment up. I show up and there's no questions or intake asking me if I have any issues (which I also have a bulging disc in my low back), because as a GOOD THERAPIST these are things you LITERALLY NEED TO KNOW. Just like I would never train a person I've never met without asking at least a few questions upon meeting, a massage therapist should be doing those same things. Basically I ended up getting battered like I said for an hour. I told my therapist several times to use less pressure due to my body sensitivities and conditions, and she kept saying "yeah" but I highly doubt she understood me or gave a shit (it's one of the 2 because again a good therapist adjusts their pressure for clients if they ask). It was pretty rough, and she used basically her whole body weight to walk all over my back, with no gradual introduction of pressure, which is not what my Humboldt therapist did. My therapist up north is a much larger woman than this lady and I never felt like I got my ass kicked from her. I always got a super deep, ultra relaxing experience from her. Another thing a good therapist will do during a massage, is gradually introduce pressure to your body, to be sure you can handle it and it's also a bit of a "warm up" to the remainder of the massage. Even during the massage I had told her about my back and my ankle, and she continued to do whatever she wanted without any good adjustments. The only time she truly honored my requests was when I got flipped over and my quads were super sensitive because they are hella tight from a long run I did last week. And then to make things more awkward, I was trying to pay and then quietly and politely escape, but the owner asked me how it went and then asked me if I wanted to leave my therapist a tip. Except it wasn't really a question, it was more of a statement! Verbal question, energetic demand type thing. And I'm thinking are you serious right now?? I just got beat the f*ck up with a terrible massage AND you're breaking etiquette by demanding a tip? It is rude to ask for a tip, but it is also rude to not leave one for massage therapy. But no way I was leaving a dime for that "treatment." I actually tip therapists anywhere from $10-40 depending on the cost and type of service, and of course the better you are and I feel the more I will tip you because you deserve it. She tried to tell me to try a different therapist because their specialties are different, then gave me a stamp card to come back, and that is already in the recycling bin because I will never come back!! Even if you have different specialties (that is a real thing), you still know how to adjust your body work for individual clients!! If you are a real experienced massage person and want a quality job, do not come here. It is cheap for a reason, and that's one thing people need to understand about services offered: The overwhelming majority of practitioners who offer a "cheap" rate are either novice or not good at their trade. Period. There are rare gems of people who are in a position to provide an amazing service for an amazing price, but this place is not that gem. Literally invest your money into a good therapist elsewhere, it is your body and you are worth it! read more

I am SO excited to see Hadley's Massage open again, and located right in San Leandro! I was a regular client when they were located in Hayward, and was super sad to see them leave/close temporarily. The new place just didn't cut it. I have a very physically demanding job working with large animals and my body pays for it. The deep tissue massages are always incredibly helpful, and by the end of the next day following a deep tissue massage, I feel like myself again. The prices are beyond reasonable, and I make sure to tip extra well. The ladies here work hard, and it's an incredible gem. Kigawa Bistro happens to be in the next building, so if you're feeling like treating yourself (which you should), please block off a few hours for a massage and a meal. read more

This place looks a little sketchy on the outside but once you get in it's pretty nice. I had my first cupping appointment to get rid of some shoulder pain and it worked pretty well. The service is good, the owner is nice and the prices are reasonable. I used to be a massage envy member and the prices are double and the massage was mediocre at best. Had my first deep tissue massage by Maggie on 11/5/19...she was soft at first, but gradually worked into a stronger tissue massage and asked me along the way if the pressure was okay. I really appreciated that and told her she could go harder, which she did. About 10 minutes in, she suggested a 90 minute massage because my muscles are so tight...I knew that going in and valued her suggestion. What needed to be done could not be achieved in an hour, let alone one 90 minute session. I workout 5-6x a week and my body is so sore that I have trouble sleeping at night. I am anxious to return next week for a second session, and again every two weeks for a while after that. It was the perfect pressure and she made sure to evenly distribute the massage on both sides of my body. I am hopeful that this might help me sleep better at night and look forward to going back. read more

I've had a lot of massages in my lifetime. I can say this is the best one I received. I was waiting to see how my body feels a week after my massage I got my massage last week Tuesday as a birthday treat from my sister we did the 90 mins for $90 and it was worth every dollar. I work a lot so my body is very tight I'm on my legs for most hours of the days and my legs and feet were very messed up and Hadley did a great job on me. She knew exactly what was tight and needed work on. I've never been this score after a deep tissue massage a week has passed and I can still feel it. Usually I'm only score a few days but Hadley really got deep in there and My body hasn't felt this good in a while. I'm really going to try to make an effort and make an apt every 4 weeks. Also it's amazing how fast they respond though YELP for appts my sister messaged around 11pm for an appt the next day and we got a message within 5 mins and has an early appt booked for the next day. It's a little pricey compared to other places in San Leandro, but at Hadley's I feel much more like I should when the session is over. I've been going to chiropractors and getting Massages for over 20 years all over the world and hands down Anna is the best I ever have experienced. She is extremely gifted and can apply as much pressure as you want. I'm a union ironworker and I need extra pressure then normal. Anna has helped me so much I can play golf and climb like I used to.
