I just had my first massage with Jim. He took great care in not aggravating a permanent injury in my neck. He worked the tight areas with great care. I really enjoyed the massage, since i dozed off a couple of time. I would recommend. read more

If I can give 0 stars I would. This place is a scam. I made an appointment and had to pay in full $140 while making the appt for August 24 at 11am for an hr deep tissue massage. I've been waiting for over 40 minutes to hear back from Jim after waiting outside of the building and in my car. I have made several attempts to reach out and I never heard back from anyone. I'm extremely disappointed. Not only did he scam me for my money but he wasted my time and gas. I received reminded text messages for my appointment the morning of, what a joke. I don't usually get massages by men, but I feel safe with Jim. He has been super kind offering a discount for nurses. As a nurse my body is a mess! It is close by, easy to park and very clean and serene. He doesn't "phone it in" like many of the other people I have been too. He is able to address the pain in my shoulder, back, neck usually in one visit. I recommend him to all my nursing friends in the E. Bay! read more

My apologies that this review was long overdue on Yelp. If you are looking for a truly restorative experience look no further. Jim, has created such a calming and professional atmosphere. The pressure was exactly what I asked for, and his attention- to details from the temperature of the room to the flow of the massage was top-notch. I'll definitely be returning client. read more

TLDR: Jim is truly amazing, I would send my mom, best friend, husband, son, anyone to him to be extremely well taken care of for any pain or tension issues. Long story long: My neck "goes out" about once a year and it's so painful I can't move, I look like Michael Keaton Batman. My usual routine is to endure a super painful massage from some rando, have it help a little, and just wait a week until I get my mobility back (Christian Bale Batman). When I woke up on Saturday and couldn't move, I looked for the first closest masseuse and VERY luckily ended up with an appointment with Jim at 1 Touch within 2 hours. There was plenty of parking for the Batmobile right by his office, which is a plus. Jokes aside, I have a really hard time trusting new people and Jim made me feel at ease immediately. He has a warm and professional presence and really knows what he's doing. This is the first time I've ever had a massage for my neck issue and it wasn't painful whatsoever, but still provided the relief I needed. I felt so safe and relaxed I fell asleep, which was also a first. Jim also helped me with some advice on how to help my pain over the next few days, and I actually ended up going back the next day and I can't believe how much relief I'm feeling. Safe to say, if you're looking for a masseuse, please book here. You can stop your search, you're in good hands (literally). read more

Great, reliable massage! Good consistency, good mix between deep pressure and relaxation, and Jim is very generous with the time too. Good availability in the evenings as well. The space is large and comfortable, and while there is no direct parking lot, parking in the area is not difficult. read more

I went to Jim after having foot and ankle pain for a long 11 months post partum. I had tried everything (stretches, various types of yoga, strengthening, foam rolling, self massage, acupuncture etc) and although I would get small incremental relief, it never lasted long. I read the 5 star reviews and knew I had to book. I booked for 90 minutes and asked for a focus on calves and feet, I briefly explained my problem and when it began and he got to work! I let him know I typically like deep pressure when he asked but never interrupted him while he was working even though there wasn't a "deep pressure" on my calves that I thought my calves needed, I could tell he was doing something different.. man am I super glad I let the master do his work because apparently I still had residual fluid in my feet and ankles from pregnancy that I had no idea about and he worked it out of my feet. Swelling I didn't even know I had went away immediately after and continued to go down a little bit more the following days and the tightness and soreness I had been feeling in my calves is gone and my feet/ankles are soooo so much better even 2 weeks after my massage. When he did work on my back a bit, I also felt that deep work pressure I typically like for deep tissue and I can't wait to get to that bodywork next because I know it is going to not just feel good "pain" in the moment but the actual underlying healing will be profound. So glad I found Jim! He is incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive. read more

Jim is phenomenal...!!! I'm so excited to have found an amazing massage therapist nearby. He has amazing endurance, pinpoint accuracy, and super strong hands. I recommend him to anyone who is in need of healing and release from physical pain. My husband and I just moved, AND we were just a few weeks away from expecting our first baby, and we were both physically desperate for a massage. We had so many tense spots, especially for me at the end of my third trimester. My husband has the worst knots in his shoulders since he works on the computer a lot, and he usually doesn't get them undone by most massages but at least they soften them up. Jim was able to do that for him!!! My husband said it was the best massage he's received in his life. I also had lots of tense spots and Jim was able to reach them while making sure I was in safe positions considering I was pregnant. We're definitely coming back here. read more

Jim does a great job in massage! His style is relaxing and trigger point based; he knows exactly what spots need care. I've never had a massage therapist spend so much time massaging out my neck, but it was exactly where I needed. Jim at 1 Touch Relaxed is wonderfully skilled massage therapist. I'm an active adult who enjoys training in martial arts, pilates and dance. Sometimes, I just need stress relief, and I always leave his sessions feeling deeply relaxed and more grounded. Jim is simply the best! My partner and I have been going to him since he was still on Piedmont Ave, and scheduling an appointment is now a go-to gift. Had a great first experience with Jim. The environment was clean and calming. Jim also was very relaxed and his calm demeanor helped me relax as well. Jim was heaven sent! I am a fellow massage therapist for the past 18yrs, and to get off of his table and feel how my clients say I make them feel was an indescribable feeling! I know that there are a lot of massage therapist, but Jim, you have a gift! I felt like my body had had THERAPY for the 1st time in years! I have had massages...many massages, but yesterday, you worked out so many kinks. My seratus anterior was in minor spasm and you WORKED it ALL OUT! It was very refreshing and extremely needed! I had a wonderful massage with Jim. I completed an intake ahead of the appointment to indicate what my goals were, any medical concerns I had, etc. When I arrived, Jim greeted me and reviewed the intake. He was very thoughtful and communicative. He checked to make sure the room temperature was ok, if the amount of pressure he used was comfortable, and how I felt before and after the massage. I appreciate his intentionality, differentiating the technique based on the treatment goals I had and where tension was in my body. It was also helpful that Jim provided some information about how the muscles connect and what exercises/stretches I can use to help remain pain-free between sessions. Overall, it was a great session. read more

I came here due to lower back pain. My lower back was super tight with major muscle spasm! I'm on my feet all day at work, & Jim really loosen up all the tightness on my back & legs. I'm not a regular massage-getter and it's been a few years since I got a massage due to Covid, so I was pretty nervous for my appointment, but Jim immediately put me at ease. He was so welcoming and clearly had a clean and sanitary space (essential during our continuing pandemic!) with lovely ambiance, and from the first moment he walked in the room, he checked in to make sure I was comfortable and knew what was coming during every part of the massage. I really felt safe and cared for during this appointment, which as a trans person with chronic pain and anxiety, is uncommon. I also had a week-old tattoo and Jim was very careful around it, which is encouraging for future appointments; I'm almost always healing a tattoo or two. Without a doubt, I'll be returning to Jim soon, and am booking an appointment for my housemate as well ASAP! read more

1 Touch Relaxed - Thanks Jimmy! - Massage Therapy Near Me - San Leandro, California

As a former longtime distance runner, I've been treated by many different body workers over the years. After a few treatments - even after the first - i knew Jim is one of the exceptional ones. He has already helped a lot with a funky back muscle and gotten rid of some lateral lower leg tendon pain I'd been having. And the experience is a delight - his massages are relaxing, Jim is warm, kind and professional, and his studio is clean and pleasant. So glad a friend referred him! read more

Jim is wondrful! I've been looking for a regular massage therapist in the East Bay for some time and Jim has checked all the boxes! 1) Relaxing enviroment 2) Heated massage bed 3) great smelling and non-oily lotion 4) great presure and responsive to feedback during the session of more or less 5) technique unmatched in the Bay - so smooth and fluid! I tend to drift off during the sessions as it completely relaxing my body AND mind. 6) starts off each session with a conversation about issues areas or areas to avoide 7) Jim is an incredebly respectful and thoughtful person 8) gives you the science behind what he will focus on and how it connects to your issue areas Honestly, this is the best therapist that you will find in ALL of Oakland - and belive me, I've looked! I've been going to soley Jim for a little over a year now at least once a month. Initally it was to work out a lot of issue areas I had, but now that we worked through those pain points and he has given me the tools to help with my posture - it's purely for my wellness and is such a joy everytime. If I could give him more than 5 stars, I would! read more

I've had 3 massages from Jim in the last 5 months. He's very good, the best massages I've had in many years. 90 minutes was better than 60 because it took me 60 minutes to really relax. I like deep tissue massage and Jim is good at finding how much pressure is best. He worked through the knots in my back and shoulders, and did good whole body work. I'm a serious cyclist so my legs are pretty developed, but I also had a shoulder injury. He was good at taking this into account. We talked occasionally during the massage and he spent more time on the places that I felt needed more. I had that tingly euphoric feeling up and down my spine, that a good massage can give you. read more
