Been here 3 times before, the only reason I go back is the food is good.. but this time the food was subpar n cold.. service has always been lacking since first visit.. stood in front area for 15 minutes (no one was there) sat at table that we were finally put at for 15 minutes before I had to wave waitress down to place order.. i had to ask three times for a glass of water.. soup was cold had to have it warmed.. entree was cold n so was the rice only hot item was egg rolls.. I ordered the seafood tofu pot again. This is what I ordered last time without checking my review. I love the scallops, shrimps, tofu and bok choy. I feel that the sauce is light too. Service here was not good. Someone told me five times that someone would come and take my order. It took a while. When I see someone come in after me and they have all their food, and I have not ordered, that's not good And the other table next to me they got all their food at totally diff times. I got my food actually pretty quickly after my order was put in so I was surprised and it was piping hot. You pay at the front here, they don't give you a bill at your table. They accept cash or card. Not Apple Pay which they said they did. I told her I'd get my card in the car and she looked at me as if I was going to dine and dash. We popped in for a quick dinner on our way home yesterday. I've been meaning to try them because they're frequently referenced as some of the best Chinese/Vietnamese/Dumpling spot in the area on Tampa's Asian food boards. and now I see why. Fantastic! I have spicy fish and eggplant. Delicious. it was not actually very spicy at all, but I loved it. We also got shrimp and asparagus in black bean sauce. That was delicious as well. The food is delicious. We usually come to this restaurant when family is visiting and usually the tip is added automatically given the amount of people served (usually 6-8 people). Which is totally reasonable. However, today we went there for lunch, just us, 2 adults (me and my husband) and our two little kids (ages 2 and 5). When we got our bill, there was an automatic tip of 20%+ added to the bill and the bill is asking for additional tip on top of that high automatic charge to the bill. Our visit to H L B was not what I expected from all the great reviews, with only about eight tables be served, our service was very slow with items like soup, and drinks taking an extremely long time to get to our table. One hot and sour soup came, and then another ten minutes later, a Thai tea came half way through the appetizers. The best thing s that were ordered were the steamed pork buns, tofu spring rolls, the hot and sour soup and steamed chive dumplings ( they were ordered fried but were serve steamed. Although the food is very good, I have to state some disappointment in the take out service. I have never had an issue before but I ordered take out and when I got it home, they had given me the wrong Bahn Mi. Now, like I have had to do with every other restaurant, I have to check my take out order before I go home. This seems to be an epidemic for all restaurants. I don't know how many of you have had issues, but I would say 80% of the time, they get my order wrong. read more

I was craving some dim sum. We arrived at 430 only to be told they stop serving dim sum at 4. I'm like "plleeaasse!" Nope Ordered veggie eggs rolls, which were great for a spring roll. Not an egg roll. The sweet and sour chicken was excellent. Very tender. Sauce was sweet and a bit tart. We ordered pho. Broth was a tad boring but has plenty of noodles and steak. Ended up adding soy sauce. That helped the flavour. Also had a small bowl of hot and sour soup. It was just ok. Not a ton of flavour. And we ordered the House style rice noodle with added veggies and chicken. It was beyond boring. Absolutely no flavour. I don't think it even had sauce on it. We loaded it up with soy and oyster sauce. That helped but we shouldn't have to do that. I'm sure we'll be back again to try some other stuff. I'd love to get there for dim sum. read more

I always order the same thing and take out because I'm working. It's the vermicelli special. It's got eggrolls, vermicelli noodles, grilled pork and shrimp. It's delicious. The problem is you go in there to pick up your food and they're charging you for asking for a side of Sriracha and hoisin sauce(which is mixed together half-and-half in a small ramekin) it's like McDonald's asking for money for a side of ketchup. It's the nickel and diming that I have a problem with so if you want your guests to come back, don't be adding charges on things that are unnecessary to charge for. One of my favorite spots due to the taro boba being the best that I've had. I like the chicken pho and tofu vermicelli noodles, the chicken vermicelli isn't all that good. Dine in isn't as great as take out, I strongly dislike to say this, but if their friends and family come in they completely ignore other tables. My brother and I sat for 30 minutes waiting for our food, when their friends came in with a large party; they ordered their food and it came out before ours and a couple other tables. One thing I can say is the inside of the restaurant is immaculate, super elegant and welcoming. read more

Always consistent! We only order to-go, Pho and Calamari. Being Gluten Intolerant, I cant eat the calamari, but I enjoy the Pho. It is a warm comforting flavor that I wish I could get a jar of the broth for home to just drink. It is perfect in the winter, or when someone isnt feeling 100%-it feels healing. Even in the summer we enjoy it. The only improvement I would suggest is if they put the raw beef in a baggie, instead of resting on top of the noodles. If it sits too long it gets the noodles a slight blood--it's unappealing when it happens. We've taken to just asking to have the meat packed separately. The calamari is enjoyed by both my hubby and son, it has a slight kick and spice to it with red chilis, and is cooked crispy. Take out is quick and efficient and there's never been a delay, or a problem. This was my first time eating at Ha Long Bay. The dining area was very nice. The dining room offers booths or table. The service was very good. Our server was an older gentleman. He was very polite and nice.The food was AMAZING. I had the Rice vermicelli special. The one issue I had, and will take part of the blame, was my food came with crushed peanuts. It never occurred to me to order no peanuts because it stated in the menu peanuts optional. When the food came it was obvious there were crushed peanuts on it. Normally, I wouldn't send something back, but I have a severe nut allergy. I told him I couldn't eat it because of the peanuts. He seemed a bit flustered, but took it back and brought me a new entree. I inquired about the menu stating optional. He said, they were not optional. So, word to the wise, if you are allergic or simply don't want peanuts, say NO peanuts. I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Got back in touch with friends we've little of since COVID since the wife was immuno compromised. We were delighted to have lunch with them. They suggested Ha Long Bay that they highly recommended. We arrived a little after lunch hour and were seated right away, presented menus and gave our drink orders. The place was decorated very well for an Eastern atmosphere. We ordered steamed Pot Stickers for an appetizer. My wife ordered the Kung Pao Chicken with Peanuts, my friend's wife picked the Chicken & Shrimp Combo, my friend chose the Moo Goo Gai Pan along with Hot & Sour Soup and I went for the Beef & Meatball Pho. The Pot Stickers came hot and delicious. I did manage to get a pic before the last one was gone. Soup also came, some shared and said it was great, but not my taste. Our food came and was great. My Pho was great, plenty of meat and crisp veggies. I just wished for spice but the Sriracha helped a bit. I was a bit jealous of the Moo Goo, my fav, but I wanted something different. So for those of you who don't know let me put you onto one of the best things about Asian cuisine. Dim sum is authentic Asian food made to order and served small plate style. The possibilities are endless and ha long bistro does it well, I did enjoy the shrimp and chive dumplings more than the shrimp ones. Everything I tried was excellent but I would advise you to eat the chicken feet last because they are crazy flavorful and should be eaten last or possibly with something to reset the palate before trying other things. The service was what I'd expect from any dim sum restaurant , friendly and quick paced. Overall I had an awesome experience and highly recommend you try ha long bistro for some dim sum !! read more

This is a hidden gem! Everything we've tried to far has been delicious. The staff is friendly, the food is great, and service is fast.

Had a craving for Peking Duck. Found a place in Dunedin, right outside Clearwater, FL. I don't know about you, but I've found it very difficult to find our true sit down Chinese restaurant. Well, I found one today. Seem to be family owned so I gave it a shot. And I've got to say, great choice today. Of course I ordered the Peking Duck, knowing that I would take half of it home. As you can see, it was definitely peeking duck for two at least. Maybe three or four. It was truly delicious. Not only that it was boneless as it was hand cut off of the bone and stripped away. The buns were amazing although they did stick to the plate a little bit. Lol the egg wonton soup was personal request which they had no problem filling. Of course the noodles served with what I can tell you is the most prominent pineapple tasting duck sauce I've ever had and it was delicious. The mustard, true, Chinese mustard amazing. If you're in the Clearwater or Tampa area, definitely worth taking the ride and checking this place out. They're very friendly and accommodating and want to make sure that you enjoy their food. read more

Bad experience. Beware the "suggested tip" scam and don't eat here!! They add base total of what you eat plus sales tax and then charge you more than 20% tip, so you end up with a Grand total that includes the tip even prior to you deciding how much you want to leave as a tip. What a scam! When questioned why they do this, the server will say that they only earn $10/hour.. btw, tips are no longer taxable starting this year, so much of what they get in this tip scam are not even taxed! Very close to 4.5 stars rating. I have call ahead for take out since I am near the location for my project. So I plan to pick up some food here to take home. They tell me need 25 minutes. So I show up 6 minutes early and the food is already ready. During the pandemic, they have their restaurant as 50% sit in capacity. I got my food home at 57 minutes. It is still taste very good. We got the salt and pepper seafood combo. They have great salt garlic taste. The second dish is the Singapore rice noodle. I like the high BTU wok technique on this dish. The third dish is the spicy fish fillet with eggplant. The sweet minor spicy sauce is well done. I like this dish. The last dish is walnut shrimp. The shrimp was fried and cook in sweet white sticky sauce. This East meet West technique is great. Overall we enjoy it very much. Definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

First time checking this out. As a long time Vietnamese food eater, I was curious about the Chinese/Vietnamese combo. My daughter and I had the crispy eggrolls which were great. She ordered the grilled pork vermicelli and said it was delicious and reminded her of her favorite Vietnamese restaurant back home. I asked about the whole fried snapper but was told it would be 30 minutes. Maybe I'll try to call ahead next time. I got the Hong Kong roast half duck and steamed rice and it was very good. Went for a late lunch on a rainy afternoon, we'd been looking for a new place to try. The inside is quite pretty, the menu was large, a vast display of different cuisine styles. We started with the salt and pepper calamari which was delicious. We both ordered lunch so we received soup, an egg roll and our mains. Had I net added soy sauce, which I had to ask for, it would have been very bland. There were no condiments at all on the table. I was with a friend that received her order 5 minutes after mine.
