We had to wait for large pack of hamburger but was passed up 3x when asking- they said 10-15 min but kept coming out with more meat instead of what we asked :( Had lots of workers standing around ( perception) just a little disappointed with the service . This location is new and most definitely improved--a significant upgrade to the neighborhood. The store features all the amenities of newer HEB stores, to include a full bakery and deli. There's a lunch counter with foods made to order, and they have a nice selection of salads and sandwiches ready in advance. This place is going to be a big hit with all the people who work on Lackland. There's lots of parking and even a gas station with a car wash. This is a very nice HE--no Butts about it. read more

This H-E-B has changed a lot since the first time we visited it back in 2011. It is new and updated. Very clean. You sometimes find bad fruit or veggies - but that happened at most grocery stores. They make fresh tortillas and bread daily. The cake is SO GOOD! The in store coupon system is great for those on a budget. They always have deals! Great place to shop. read more

This H-E-B is really good and their managers are very visible and vigilant. The managers were particularly amazing during the beginning stages of COVID. DO NOT use curbside pickup at this location! Terrible. Waited for over an hour to have the wrong order delivered. Last time I will use the service. Tried back in April and was the same story. Thought I'd give it another try due to current covid19 concerns, but I should have just gone in to get my groceries. I just return home from HEB. I had a lipstick that did not match the color I was looking for. I have been searching for this color for awhile now. I went to the mall....no luck. (Customer service,,,anywhere,,,seem to be vanishing. ) On my second trip, Venessa, who works in the cosmetic isle helped me. She was very kind and knowledgeable. I wish there were more people like Vanessa in this world! She never gave up in my search for the "right tone" of lipstick! This here ladies and gentlemen is my HEB during the whole panic and even before that they had been a staple in this community this store went out of its way to accommodate its customers they practice social distancing mask wearing sanitation and number of customers allowed in the building at any given time they have curbside pickup you can order online and they'll have your order ready for you to come pick it up at the curve it's right next door to lackland Air Force Base easily accessible from the highway the bus stops it's a must go to if you need anything for your household it has a bakery that always putting out fresh pastries I can't guarantee you that if you walk up to that door you're going to smell that food and get hungry and it smells that good they treat you with a smile HEB customer satisfaction is thier priority read more

This has a sad excuse for a curbside they give you expired items and rotten produce. Then when you call and try and talk to a manager you never get an actual manage. Not convenient at all. I was headed into Lackland AFB and realized I forgot my lunch so decided to swing into heb really quick. I decided to get some sushi and a topo Chico. I got to the sushi station and there wasn't a lot of options set out since it was only around 930am. A guy working the sushi station asked if I needed help with anything and i asked if they had any Philadelphia rolls. He said he didn't have any set out but asked if I would like for him to make me one really quickly? I responded that would be great! He asked if I wanted smoked salmon or imitation crab- and if I wanted one or two rolls. I answered one roll- smoked salmon. He promptly finished what he was working on and immediately made my sushi roll fresh in front of me and happily handed it over and asked if he could help with anything else. The customer service was amazing and the sushi was delicious and made fresh right in front of me. This was a great experience here and I will for sure be back! read more

Although not a Plus, it appeared to be good size from my short trip. There are only 18 lanes, but 17 of them were open. Great! I might come here a little more often. read more

How to best explain this new HEB? Well, it's kind of between a regular HEB and a Super HEB, I'd reckon. And of course, it's new. That being said, I don't particularly care for the layout of this HEB. It seems like you most stores have food on one side and everything else on the other. Well, this is a mashup in that you have your bakery, deli and meats on the right, some non-edible items toward the center, and all you frozen foods at the opposite ends in aisles that run perpindicular to the other aisles in the store. It makes me feel funny. Anyway, it is an HEB and all the usual suspects are there to include sushi. You should find whatever it is you're looking for at this HEB and it's a pleasant shopping environment, to me at least, in a large extent because it's new. They also have a gas station with carwash (I think, at least). Getting in and out is a bit tricky with the traffic during Lackland's rush hours... read more

We bought 3 carts of groceries and Art was friendly enough to help us carry out and load up the groceries in the car. Heb was packed but was still able to find what I needed. It was a little messy they had spills and some trash on the floor but Albert was quick enough to pick up the mess. I love the free samples read more

I usually try to only leave positive reviews and leave the complaining to other folks. Due to a great stock of most items, maybe because of the needs of nearby Lacklsnd AFB, we have been shopping at this store instead of the HEB nearest us. But after the experience Saturday May 8th we won't be going back. There was no social distancing, very over crowded and people not covering mouth and nose with masks. Employees with only partially covered faces seemed to be a norm. We grabbed a couple of items and left. With all the positive national attention you would have thought they would have stayed the course and manage they stores properly. At least wal mart is limiting to limiting volume of people and cleaning after customers leaving for the next folks. read more

This location is rather small. You're not going to find a sushi section or a large garden section but you'll find the basics. There selection of items are small but perhaps a plus because there's less to choose from. The aisles are small and they have recently been rearranging the products of the store. This HEB is unique in that it has a great lunch menu at very reasonable prices. They have the rotisserie chicken as the central entree of many of the dishes but the food is very nice especially with the reasonable prices. read more

NO GUAC AGAIN!? 3 weeks now and the prepared food department has no guac to serve, yet its included in the price of some meals. Tubs and tubs of guac in produce, but according to manager Felipe, that guac cant be used. According to management the "special guac" used has been in short supply. Yet the heb at 1604 and bandera, which i also frequent, never has this issue. HEB didn't become the #1 grocer in San Antonio by making stupid decisions. Come on HEB, FIGURE IT OUT!!! read more

This HEB is telling paying customers that if you speak or help another customer in the same aisle that you can NOT buy the items you wish to purchase. So if you wish to buy your NEEDED items do not speak or help any other customers in that same aisle. They have employees in the isle & If you speak to someone they will radio that you are with that person. Management told me that I would be escorted out by security if I questioned anything else about them refusing purchases. So if an elderly needs help or you just being helpful DO NOT DO IT AT VALLEY HIGH HEB because they will threaten you to say security will come or ask you to leave. One employee says they will verify your ID(to make sure you do not have same address) & the management who is just standing around says "It's not my place to question where you live,but because you spoke to each other than your together. I can call security!" She has very short white & Grey hair. A very manly hair cut. So it's as they choose. Either they can verify or they choose not too. So if you car pool to save money do not speak to other people. We were both buying completely different items. Two completely different items. read more

I love my HEB on Valley Hi.. I go there rather than Walmart any day!! I get hometown feel... lots of variety and whole food options.. friendly staff... fresh produce, meats.. and the bakery..mmmm. The design of the aisles aren't complicated to get around and find what your looking for... I've been in some groc stores where you can get lost and spend more time than you had allotted for the day. Sushi samples are one of my favorite. The samples in the round stand alone containers by the bakery, deli etc don't get enough attention. Meat Dept is always there to help.. season meat for me or cut my hamburger to patties for free.. nice! Fresh bread every time for a buck.. just ask for it. I enjoy the diversity in their staff too... partially deaf cashier (Armando... haven't seen him in a while.. I always pick his aisle if he's there. He's very attentive and always make sure I got all the deals offered with my products...love love)and sometimes special needs baggers... greet me with a smile!!
