I love H-E-B, coming from a place that doesn't have these grocery stores sucks! Any time I am down in Texas for a period of time, I hit up the HEB. The best selection. The best produce availability. I like they have their own vegan ice cream. I have anaphylaxis to milk. Due to that, ice cream that is dairy free tastes like trash. Not at HEB. Their selections are phenomenal. The service has always been excellent. Are the stores crowded during peak hours. Yes they are. Best time to come is at 6AM right when they open. I do that and have no issues. read more

THIS review is based on curbside pickup. Love the store because it has all the things I want but always too busy to go in, so I thought I would try the curb side pick up. It's free as long as it is way ahead of time. It was easy until I got there, couldn't find it coming from the west of Military street. I saw one sign but had no idea. Drove around, HEB gas station, HEB car wash, found it with the pharmacy drive up. It is adjacent but a separate drive way. This location is an accident waiting to happen. You have narrow pick up parking, one way drive in, no signs, and you are competing with the pharmacy drive through as well as ppl trying to beat the traffic off Goliad and driving past behind you. THEN when I pulled into the spot, I waited, and was not sure if I was to go get my cart that was ready or wait for someone to come. WHY? Because there was never details on the pick up and I saw numerous different people coming and going that looked like regular pedestrians. I kept waiting and watching, finally saw some staff wearing blue uniform tops, others looked like they were off the street and the car they approached was their personal car, yet turned out to be staff afterall. Finally saw someone that looked like they had my items pushing a cart. BTW you cannot see their station and where they are coming from, suddenly they appear in the lot. Not safe for them either! Friendly and the order was correct but not a pleasant experience. Think they should move this to the opposite side of the store where it is quiet Don't say I didnt warn you. read more

Wow! I've truly being missing out on all the perks of coming to this H-E-B. So long story short, I usually go to the H-E-B at Nogalitos which is pretty much half the size of this one (or maybe smaller), but during summer I really like that the other location has a covered garage. With that being said, I had to visit this H-E-B because this was the only pharmacy that had a medication that I needed. First of all, the staff at this pharmacy was unbelievable kind. They even asked me if I needed someone to go over the medications with me, which I have never had that asked at the Nogalitos location. Besides the amazing staff at the pharmacy, this store is GIANT. They have so many more options for absolutely everything! Ready to eat food, holiday items, beauty section, a giant bakery, plus a sushi section. I know this must sound super normal to most, but for those of us that go to a tiny H-E-B this is like heaven. I am most definitely going to be coming to this H-E-B more often and discover all the new things I've been missing out for so many years! read more

This is my regular H‑E‑B. I went to do my Thanksgiving food shopping, and went to find our favorite dinner rolls, the H‑E‑B brand. Well, they not only went up in price, but instead of nice packaging, they no longer come in a thin cardboard tray. Now they are just stuffed in plastic bags, and look horrible. They are all smashed, flat, stuck together in a flimsy bag. I asked the cashier about them, as they are part of our holiday dinner. My family loves them. She said they have had lots of complaints, so I am hoping they re-package them as they should be! If not, I guess Walmart will be where I get my rolls..... read more

I will not be shopping here again. I know people are frustrated with SNAP, the economy, and everyday personal things, but they shouldn't scream and verbally assault someone for saying "excuse me". I was screamed at by a "woman" who pushed my cart to cut in front of me. "She" said, "You gotta f*cking problem!? I'm the wrong brown person to F*ck with!" I left the area and went to check out. She followed me to my car, still pissed off, and no one, including "security" did anything to address it. The store is too crowded, the aisles too narrow, and curbside is always inaccurate with orders. Do better. This isn't Wal-Mart. read more

This HEB is always cold making it difficult to shop at times your mind is so focused on how much you're freezing but on a good note it's fairly clean most of the time and the cashiers are friendly and helpful read more

I had a wonderful experience this morning at My HEB. I was able to find everything I needed and more, but at the time of my checkout, the cashier Sabrina, took the time to ensure that the grocery belt was clean prior to me placing my items on it! I had not seen that done in such a long time! I appreciated that so much! Her smile and welcoming personality should be the way all partners should have! I like the everything about this store especially after the upgrade but was very disappointed with the Jonah Crab Claws recently purchased. I understand fresh seafood is hard to get here but these were dry, tasteless, and not edible. Obviously previously frozen for too long. I ended up throwing out $10 worth and disappointed that they would sell something that bad. read more

Cashiers/baggers do not know how to bag properly. Constantly putting produce with meat, or all meats together, or heavy items with bread/tortillas/chips. So sick and tired of it. You literally have to stand there and watch them while they're bagging so they don't overload the cheap plastic bags. Do better HEB. Quality is declining while prices go up. This is technically the closest HEB located to me and yet I'll drive to the Goliad location almost every chance I get. It's always madness here. They are always out of stock most recently out of cereal. Really the whole isle of breakfast cereal vacant??? Also, I once met a baby mouse near the flour and baking stuff. This HEB is a fast in and out location. They don't have huge departments for anything in particular, and unfortunately some of the services they used to have like Aguas frescas have disappeared. In turn though, you get speedy service and a quick stop when you need just a few groceries. We've noticed that there is a limited selection at this one, so if you're looking for choicer meats and seafood or specialty items, you'll have to head to City Base or Zarzamora. My Yelp rating system: 5 stars= Driving across town just for this! 4 stars= I would recommend visiting. 3 stars= Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars= You might be able to drag me in. 1 star= I will definitely not be returning. read more

The store just underwent a remodel so its still a tad messy right now but looks promising. The entrace is now bigger and right as you walk in there is a stand where they sell aguas frescas and fresh fruit cups. The bakery has tasty treats and the store is kept clean. Definitely not my favorite HEB. The store is crowded, and always out of something. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes we get great service, other times, not so much. One time, the cashier argued with us over the price of a bottle of wine. Rather than hold up the line over $1, we decided just to not buy the wine. I've heard changes are coming, but it's going to be a wait. In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to deal with this store since it's the closest to my house. read more

I am disturbed by what just happened. I was parked in my car in the far corner of the parking lot waiting for an order to come thru on door dash. (There was over 100 open spaces in eye shot) and the security comes over to my car hand on his gun to ask me what I was doing. I said just waiting for a door dash order(usually 2-5 mins wait) and he demanded I move. Then came right up to the window of the car(no mask) and refused to step back as I did not have a mask on either. Not a crazy mask person but maybe this would qualify as invasion of personal space. He then called for backup to have me removed for no reason. The. The reply he got on the radio was to stop Harassing me. After receiving the call he came up to me once again hand on his gun. How is this acceptable. I drove off and plan to return when he is not on shift to let them know how irresponsible his actions were and his egregious hand placement on his firearm while talking with customers. read more

This HEB has been here a long time, even before this area started being built up to the southside hotspot it is now. My mom shops here a lot and I like to come here when I visit. The staff are always friendly and the product selection is good. I do not know anyone in San Antonio who has not tried to shop for their groceries in HEB but if you have not, then give this place a try. read more

Hate that this store is close to me. The slowest most inconsiderate people have to plan to be here every Sunday. Oh....that's perfectly fine. I called to order a cake and cupcakes for my Granddaughters birthday celebration. I live out of the area and had called several bakeries and no one seemed to want to help me or even help me find an alternative when the decopac I wanted was not available. Then I called here and spoke to Gracie ! She was so very cheerful and helpful . I appreciated how she offered me an alternative when what I wanted was not available and gave me some great ideas for the cupcakes I wanted as well . I will definitely be using this bakery again ! I was not impressed at all by this location. Selection was narrow or missing all together, and some items were priced higher. I just moved from Leon Valley so that community H-E-B is what I'm using for comparison. Check out was slow and many patrons were unreasonably rude. In the future I'll only shop here in a pinch. I am more of a fan of HEB then Wal Mart as it is in a class of its own. Parking is great and they even sell garden plants that are seasonal most of the time. Worst customer service from Latoya M. Never once said a word to us and gave me attitude when I asked if we could get a different pack of oranges. On top of that, she ignored my mother in law when she spoke to her. We got a manager involved and she did nothing. As we were walking away Latoya M. Was making faces. I like this location because it's close to my house and there's usually parking. Everything is usually well stocked. I've noticed that they do not carry some items that other locations carry. I'm certain that's due to demographics, but the south side is changing. Hopefully HEB will too. Or we could all be blessed with a Publix. Crossing my fingers. read more

I was in a hurry and didn't notice that I was in the 15 or less items but I was. In past experiences with that, in other stores, the cashier has asked me to change lanes. But this time the cashier Avery, was soooo nice and helpful. I apologized for standing in that line with more than 15 items. He said it was ok and that he was there to help. He did not make me feel uncomfortable and he was not rude about it. I appreciated being treated that way. He even helped another customer behind me since he wasn't that busy.
