The main downside of Natural Grocers (and pretty much ANY "health food store" is the PRICE. Gosh! How is it so expensive to eat REAL, HEALTHY, NATURAL FOODS?!?! Luckily, they have sales! The sale prices make it more manageable to shop here. For instance, the nondairy cheese I mentioned earlier is usually $4.49/8oz package, I missed a sale on it for $2.99/8oz package. (Their website listed a sale that ran through Sept. 1st) having never actually tried non dairy cheese, I was nervous to spend that much on something that *might* be gross... so I kind of would want to wait for another sale. I did buy some non dairy sour cream for $3.19... and it was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! Didn't taste anything like sour cream. Wonder why they could actually call it sour cream??? Blah! Formerly was under Albertsons LLC where a price for a product would regularly cost $4.99 then during sales it was 2 for $5 what a buy however now that same product may cost $3.99 and go on sale 2 for $6, hope the United Family can have more of a competitive edge however with Market Street around the corner they really don't need it.

We found some good deals on meats. I mean for the times. And I love the H-E-B line. They omit lots of junk and artificial crap plus they are cheaper than the name brands. This mom is a fan! The store was spotlessly clean. The produce department is enormous, and they also carry a great selection of organic fruit. The bakery department has premade cakes and also takes special orders. They have a great selection of meats, including large packs for those with larger families or if you're hosting a large gathering. There's plenty of parking and handicap spaces near the entrance.

I'm perturbed for several reasons: 1) they rang up a bag of apples to be $4.79 when it was supposed to be $1.99. After quite a wait, that was price checked and changed for me. Cool. 2) got home & noticed the cilantro & the 3 limes ($1) I bought & paid for didn't make it into our bags. I need it for dinner tonight. The staff bagged our groceries for us. So frustrating because it was $1.99 for a relatively small bundle, but I wanted to support La Tienda. 3) flies everywhere! 4) dusty goods! The can of beans I bought was covered in dust as was the others. Could these last two reasons be because the two front doors were propped open? Will be a while before I come back even though I'm in this vicinity at least once per week. My 11-year-old daughter loved this store and how organized it was. She ain't paying the bills, though.
