So it's a fairly new store with a good customer base for the location. Prices are reasonable but can be a bit higher that other places on certain name brand items. If you can get the specials on meats and vegetables then its not so bad. Parking sucks here. I thought the layout of parking lot is absurd. I like that they kept the big old oak trees but seems like there could have been something designed better. The electric car charging station is in the south east corner of the parking lot. I thought it was kind of weird, thought it would be close to the entrance. Also, all the compact car spots I saw were the furthest away from the store...very odd. Those are usually the closest ones. Gues they wanted all the big SUVs and trucks close to the store (big spenders). Overall, a nice HEB but make sure to check prices before buying since there are two or three other stores in the area. read more

We just came to H‑E‑B and had a bad experience checking out because of Amanda at the self check out area. The first time we needed assistance someone came and helped us and she was kind. The second time was a woman named Amanda and from the moment she came to help she was rude. We we're trying to tell her what we needed and she told us to get out of the way so she could get through. As a customer service representative for H‑E‑B, she should have shown more kindness and said excuse me or something. After we finished checking out, we we're gathering our bags and she told us to hurry up and get out of the way again. I have gone to so many HEB locations and have never experienced a bad attitude from anyone. read more

Despite the fact that I like H-E-B a lot, I have to give it an extra crappy review because of the ongoing problem with their carts. You see, about a year ago, they had installed on their carts the anti-theft devices on the front left wheel. In case someone tries to take it out of the parking lot, a lock is triggered and the wheel becomes immobile. Now, this is supposed to happen if the cart is taken out of the parking lot, and not while IN the parking lot. Unfortunately, for the fourth time in three months, I have the unpleasant experience of it locking up in the parking lot. Filled with my groceries. And then I have to drag the cart to my car. It is not easy. I can only imagine someone elderly dealing with this. I have bruised my legs a few times as when the cart stops unexpectedly, as your momentum carries you right into the back of it. A lawsuit waiting to happen, I imagine. Now, I have called the home office multiple times, called the the local store, and have gone back into the store and talked to a manager. They all seem to know it's a problem. And they all seem clueless of what is going on and how to fix it. I get nods and "yeah, that's a problem." Thanks for confirming that you are doing nothing. COME ON. FIX THE DARN PROBLEM. It's been going on for a year. Just replace every wheel unit you can count on the technology. DO SOMETHING. Focus on the customer. Idiots. This HEB location is really nice! The exterior architecture and interior layout is a notch above other HEB stores. The selection is excellent, and the service is friendly. One complaint I have (which is true for other HEB locations, as well) is the awful odor in the produce department, due to the water that builds up and breeds mildew in those rugs. Parking can be a challenge due to the sheer number of people that shop here. And yet, even though it's further away then Randall's, I will definitely drive the extra mile to shop here instead. read more

I love H‑E‑B in general but as far as H‑E‑B's go this one is awkwardly organized, with a difficult parking lot (not enough spaces, too much landscaping) and not enough employees. It took forever to find what I needed since it was organized in a different way than other H‑E‑Bs and there wasn't anyone to ask for directions. read more

Great deals, fresh groceries and always a good price. Location is close to home and the parking is plentiful, lines always move quickly and no issues with items being out of stock. This is always my go to store for drinks, snacks and personal care items. I like the selection of items and samples the store provides on a daily basis. read more

I like going to this HEB. They have a wide selection of stuff even with the organic section. I like how it's clean and it just gives me the good feeling of going there to do my groceries. I used to LOVE this HEB and would happily drive 20 minutes each way every week to shop here. The small carts were perfect for my single person household, and I even appreciate the plentiful medium carts now. It still has a place in my heart, but lately I've run into one major issue - the bagging is terrible now! I'm not sure if it's because they now have to deal with paper, plastic, and reusable bags. Regardless, they frequently overload any bag I try to use, to the point that the paper bag handles rip before I make it to the exit. When I use a reusable insulated bag, they put only pantry/dry goods in there and put all the refrigerated items in a regular bag - why??? I have to step outside the store and re-bag all my items almost every time I visit. I also had a really bad experience with their grocery delivery service. The driver didn't realize (?) she had to press the up button to call the elevator in my building and took her frustration out on me. I'm hoping the new location on Shepherd manages to avoid some of these issues. read more

I absolutely love this store. It's huge and clean. They offer samples of so many different foods and beverages. We happen to go on a day where there was over a half a dozen wine merchants sampling their Product. Their cocktail section had great ingredients. The prices are good. The quality is excellent. And the food samples are generous. I wish they had these in my hometown. I would shop there all the time. read more

Nice HEB use their pharmacy which is OK just because you can get the medicine. Staff and pharmacist Shannon is not really competent and Does not explain very well about how they use certain good RX plans sometimes and other times don't I am a self-pay patient and will be looking for a new pharmacy because Shannon talks to you while looking down and the other front person isn't very knowledgeable. It seems to me and by the way I'm in the healthcare field for over 10 years, so I can no good service cause I provide good service to my patience and when I want to be an ass which is very very rare, I do with Shannon does and don't look at the patient. read more

This is one of the worst HEB stores that I've shopped at in Houston, Katy, Pearland, Pasadena, and the surrounding Houston area. I tend come here early in the mornings before my day gets started. But now, I will make sure I take care of any grocery shopping somewhere else. The employees are inhospitable, they are not professional, and definitely not courteous. My frequent shopping here has been pleasant and for the most part they had all the items I look for in stock. The most regrettable thing about this location is filled with potential burglars that break into cars. I had been victim around October of 2020 and my truck got broken into in broad day light. It was unbelievable that they had the gumption to try their nefarious deeds in the light for onlookers to catch them. You guess that they had been caught in the act but I was unfortunately targeted for I had a vague recollection of the surroundings and I believe a four door sedan either a Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry with very dark tints was parked at my passenger side area. They took my laptop, IDs and all the gadgets that hook up to my laptop. No off duty cops were there and I usually see them whenever I stop at this location. It seems they had acquired a schedule when law enforcers are not present. These burglars are always looking for repeat business. I had pulled up at this location in January of 2022 early in the morning where I parked my vehicle nearly exactly where the location of the burglary had occurred. The parking lot was empty for the most part. I was in my vehicle waiting for the store to open and look who pulls up next to me. Out of all the spots to pick in the parking lot he chose the most inconvenient in regards to walking distance right next my truck. And I noticed another car behind my truck with it's headlights on parked adjacent to the parked row of where I was parked. I didn't catch the make but that person was in their vehicle and the store had opened at that point and I didn't see either individuals stepping out of their car. So, I waited a few minutes and after 5 minutes had gone by these two individual cars and their drivers had never stepped out of their vehicles. I took video footage and here is a still shot of the vehicle suspiciously parked next to me. Be aware of your surroundings and don't let them get away with your belongings for I had my whole life in that laptop. read more

So mad. So, so mad. I love this grocery store for many reasons - Food Truck Fridays, free yoga, the bar, proximity to my place, friendly employees - but a lot of things really anger me. I've already mentioned how the produce rots pretty quickly, so you gotta be careful when making those purchases. But lately, the AWFUL checkout service has really turned me off. :: I understand that every so often, you might get overcharged for items, especially produce. It happens at almost every grocery store. Normally I don't notice til later and it's no big deal. I mean, what's .50-cents? Or even $1 here or there. But this last week's experience had me pretty furious. I was overcharged by more than $10 - and I didn't even notice til I got home. To make things worse, I had a hungry kiddo with me and was already running behind on my day. (How do you moms do it?!) I had to have someone watch the kiddo and run over back to HEB. (Avocados were three for $2 and instead I was charged $2 each - that's $6 - with an additional avocado that I didn't buy - another $2 - along with an overcharge for my lemons - more than $3 overcharge). :: Also, these stupid contests the company does with their employees is a total LOSS for customers. Apparently, they run these competitions every now and then, where cashiers are challenged to ring up as many items at possible during the shortest amount of time. They get bonuses for any goals that they hit. What does that mean for the consumer? Well, if you've ever been at checkout and 1) your groceries are flung around and get squished, damaged and mis-bagged 2) You're once again overcharged 3) You're given stank eye or verbal attitude for not taking your items out of your hand basket and placing them on the conveyor belt ... then you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. How do I know about said contests? I heard about this directly from an employee. So, here, everything is not better. It's getting worse. Perhaps, HEB, your budget is better used improving your in-store services rather than spent on ad endorsements from JJ Watt. (Love you, JJ. Muah.) read more

Brand new store and honestly they might as well slap a sign that says Central Market on it because the shopping experience is pretty nice! I guess it's less the bells and whistles of guaranteed organic. Here are a few things that they have improved: 1. Lots of natural light! 2. Hate your heels being banged and bruised? Plenty of aisle space. 3. Really nice large area next to Cafe on the Run to dine. And outside dining area too. 4. Fresh squeezed juices? Is this normal for HEB? 5. Plenty of parking. And I read somewhere that the carts deactivate outside the lot. 5. "Fork in the Road" food truck parked outside. Yes. What I suppose are opening specials include: $5.97lb Maine lobster, 77 cent per lb turkey and free turkey with purchase of ham. Now, if they could transform all that room inside the store magically onto the streets of Montrose to make it easier to get there... It is all about location location location! read more

I go to INSTACART and place my order (my first time using INSTACART) The items I ordered are things I get on a regular basis. In the end, I'm checking out and paying with my card. Only to find out they are saying most of my items cannot be found??? I'm confused about why I'm getting items that ARE ALWAYS ON THE SHELVES are not available? This is ridiculous. I was in the middle of a (huge) party when it was revealed to me that we needed some supplies, but especially ice. After making a few calls around the area, the only people to pick up past 10pm were the fine folks at HEB. They were diligent, polite, and supremely helpful. With my GPS in hand and a sense of determination, I was on my way to get what we needed. They even offered to stay on the phone to give me directions. This Alabama location looked a tad antiquated, almost like a downsized version of most other HEBs I've seen. Clearly other people knew the deal: the parking lot was packed, the registers were all full, and a bustling staff was at work. Nice. I loaded roughly 300 Ibs of ice into my cart. Threw in some extra confetti and other party fixins (forks, shot glasses, napkins) for the hell of it in another cart. With some metal trays and containers stacked fully, I was pushing two at the same time. Double fisting, party planner style. A manager noticed my giant load (#1) on both carts and offered to ring me up on the side. Ice was cheaper than Restaurant Depot and the other items were less than $20. He even offered to watch my stuff before I ran to my car to pull up on the side of the entrance. Curbside service. He helped us stack everything in the trunk and even took back the carts for us. A thank you and handshake later, he was off to help the masses of others in the store. It was just a Tuesday night, I can only imagine the holidays. My subsequent visits to Houston have resulted in me coming back often, for all sorts of random, pseudo impulse buys (#2). Perhaps this is the hippest HEB in Texas. Aside from all the usual stellar HEB offerings, they have a lot of live music out front on the weekends which really sets the mood for some grub hunting. Every other Friday they bring together about five or six different food trucks which gives them some added cool points. The architecture alone is very unique and they hire so many damn cashiers you almost never have to wait more than one other person to check out. I am a bit persnickety about long check out lines at stores so big ups to HEB on this. They almost always have freshly made Texas Honey Lemonade which I have yet to see at other HEBs and their fresh guacamole is so good I don't even try making my own. The cheese selection is second to none in the area and they conveniently pre-slice their most popular lunch meats and pack them in bags with different weights so you do not have to wait in line for it to be sliced and handed to you. Hmmmm what else? Their seafood selection is also very good and they often have snow crab legs on special for about $7 a lb. If you're looking to score some fresh salmon, tuna or gulf shrimp I can't recommend any place else in H-Town for the price. Their fresh whole snapper is also much cheaper than other places around town. If you ever need help with a recipe or suggestion for a sauce to cook fish with just ask the resident chef located in the middle of the meat/fish department. They have made some terrific recommendations to me that I still use. read more

Hot hot hot!!!! There is a seasoning that comes to $0.62 after the yellow coupon. I get to the register and the cashier shows me the coupons were mixed between two different products in the same ring, but next to the item I purchased. I paid regular price for 3 out of the 5 items. I was pissed! You don't need to use deceitful marketing tactics to get extra money from consumers. This is not the first time in the past two weeks. It happened last week when purchasing cough drops. Same brand, but coupon in front differ from the coupons in the middle and end of the stack The surprising part is that the cashier was not shocked or surprise, she shook her head yes, and said it's done all the time. What I don't like is for a company to use a bait and switch tactic to steal money from me. I have a serious problem with thar because you want for me to come in and take from you, so why steal from the consumers who keep you in business. read more

Ok...Let me just say this location and HEB has become my go to store....I transferred my from the Randall's Pharmacy to this HEB...Everyone was super friendly and I even noticed they hired the Pharmacist from Randalls...Bonus....The place is clean and not cluttered...They now have Beer and Wine and carry the Chardonnay that I used to have to drive the HEB Fountainview to purchase.... But today is what brought them up to 5 star...I went shopping there on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon and was able to see my favorite Jazz Vocalist and her Trio...the Danielle Reich Trio....She moved to Austin so it was a treat to stumble on her unexpectedly....I was also able to enjoy a glass of wine while I herd them perform...What a great Treat....Thank you HEB....Keep the good times rolling...Cheers read more

This HEB is our default HEB. Occasionally we do venture to the Buffalo Speedway HEB, which is . . . mostly comparable? Not as many scantily clad cougars at the Buffalo Speedway location - which the boys appreciate, so yeah, we end up here more often. The layout is a little confusing at first, because of the double stacked aisles layout, but don't worry, not only did I graduate from college, I also graduated from law school, so I figured it all out. Whew! Too bad my degrees are otherwise useless, but hey, enough about you. I do like the bulk food section, although it's not nearly as expansive as Whole Foods'. But here's a pro tip - buying spices and herbs from the bulk jar usually ends up being loads cheaper than buying the pre-packaged stuff. It's presumably "fresher" and you can parse amount the perfect amount. I occasionally sack up a heaping of the unsweetened dried mangos, but lately I've noticed it's not been available . . . sad panda. Another perk of this HEB is that it offers fair amount of organic produce perchance the conventional fruits and veggies don't spark your fancy. And usually there are samples of the store-made guacamole, sushi, bakery goods, and fruits and veggies for you to stuff your face with - yes I know, going grocery shopping hungry is a huge fail, but sometimes it happens. And ladies and gentlemen, this HEB offers a handful of higher-end beauty and health items. Granted, some of them are jailed in anti-theft devices (probably a necessity?), but if you're running low on some of your fancier cosmetics and don't feel like driving to Sephora or Ulta, maybe this HEB has what you need? I can say that I've taken advantage of some excellent HEB coupons scattered about the drugstore cosmetic displays (Revlon nailpolish for less than a dollar? Say what?!). I think it's safe for me to say that this place is a hidden gem. This HEB is sort of hidden, in a sense that it's no where near the freeway or any major streets that people tend to drive on. Even though it's on West Alabama Street and at times the street can get congested, I have a strong belief that this is still considered a hidden gem. I've always driven down West Alabama and for some reason never noticed the HEB, not until I was sitting in traffic and saw the HUGE sign that obviously said HEB. We all know that Houston traffic is horrible, and I just so happen to be that the intersection at the light and I just casually took a legal right turn and BAM. Even though this is a neighborhood grocery store, I had never seen it until I sat in traffic. Drove into one of the most NICE looking grocery stores that I have set eyes on in a while. I'm only saying this because, for one thing, if you were to drive into the lot, you wouldn't initially think it's a grocery store that you're going to. In fact, it looks like a REALLY nice lot with a REALLY nice building. You'd probably think it's a mini museum, or ....yeah a museum is the best description I can give. Or maybe a nice flower store because it seriously gives off that vibe. They also have their own food truck. WHAT?! It can't get any better than this. And sometimes a live band? I get happy when I talk about grocery stores. ANYWAYS. The store looks like a fancy place in the corner of a hidden intersection. Outside is a patio where you can enjoy a relaxing snack or meal. It's quite nice looking. In fact, I honestly can't get over how aesthetically pleasing the grocery store looks. Inside is just your typical HEB store with your produce isles, dry foods...yada yada. But to be honest, I think what really sets aside this HEB than all the other ones that I have been to is that it is almost as similar to Central Market, but cheaper and just a great store all around. This HEB seems to have a lot more variety in organic produce, new and interesting snacks, and of course drinks. The service seems to be spot on. I'm so used to lame and ghetto HEBs that this was surprising to me. Something that I noticed at the corner of the parking lot, is this electric car charging station. At first I wasn't sure what it was and just thought it was an interesting pole, but as I got closer to it, it turned out to be a really cool charging station for those electric cars. I have yet to see someone charge their car, but who knows. read more

Boy, do I love me some H-E-B! This location sits right around the corner from my bf's place and I think I make every excuse just to leave, "Should we stay in and make dinner tonight? We could just stop by HEB.." With an evil, ear to ear grin on my face ;) It took me a few tries to understand the layout of this HEB, but I get it now! Produce first (as always), meats, frozen foods, pharmacy and doggy section for last, leading me into the checkout. That's my usual route if I enter from the East entrance. I frequent 2 HEB's and this is one of 'em.. what sets it apart from others is the abundance of staff on the floor. If I have a question, there's always a helpful employee in sight. Other than that, cleanliness is a definite pro of any grocery I chose.. They hit the mark on service, cleanliness, convenience.. and of course, fresh produce. read more

I love coming to this HEB. I think the HEB on Buffalo Speedway has slightly better produce selection, but this one is still my favorite. I think this is the prettiest HEB I've ever been to. Coming here in the spring is the best because all of the honeysuckle is blooming. The wall of this store that faces W. Alabama is covered in honeysuckle, so it smells amazing in the spring. There's tons of honeysuckle around the parking lot, too. They almost always have samples out when I come here. They usually have guacamole out, which I sometimes get a bit of; it's delicious. When they have fruit samples out, I usually get a handful lol. They also sometimes have cheese and sushi samples, but I've never gotten those. They have great prices on produce. I'm always running out of some fruit or vegetable because I eat them every day. And when I do, I usually come here to replenish my stock. They also stock a lot of vegan products. They put little green tags in front of the vegan stuff, which is nice. They have my favorite Amy's burritos for less than Kroger's price, which is pretty awesome. Next to the organic vegetables, they have a little section of tofu and meat substitutes. They seem to adding more fancy meat substitutes, but I haven't tried any yet. They also have meat substitutes in the frozen foods. They have a little clearance section next to the frozen food. The cashiers have always been nice to me. They're always nice about putting my groceries in my backpack when I bring it. Some of the baggers have been really good at fitting all of my groceries into my backpack. Dear HEB: when a customer slices their hand on a poorly made canned product, and asks for help from an associate, I'd prefer about 30 seconds of priority. To make me wait, when you can see blood all over my hands, while you finish with the other customer, ask what else we can do for them, then reluctantly get a band aid is bad service. Bad. The one girl I found to help did try, but the customer service desk was dangerously unhelpful. I really don't ask for special consideration often, and when I do it's necessary. And when a customer asks for a band aid, they're not necessarily looking to purchase them to help ourselves. When I'm bleeding in your store i don't need directions to the band aids, I'd like one from your first aid kit. Also, try to disinfect it too. thanks for the reluctant band aid after getting hurt on your hill country fare product. I'll deal with the rest myself. read more

This is one of my favorite grocery stores. They have a large variety of products and good from around the world. I especially love their organic selections as well as the health and wellness area of the store where I can find my favorite supplements. It can busy at this location but checkout is usually very fast. read more

I have been going to this grocery store every week for the past 5 years and I think it's about time I write a review! First off - I love HEB and I love grocery shopping here! Seriously - I really enjoy my hour here once a week. I love all the samples, friendly staff, atmosphere, and wide selection. The main sample station (where they cook the food) used to be my favorite! I used to buy one of the items they were showcasing frequently. However, the new staff that maintains that station is not as friendly as the people before, which is unfortunate. I shop at this location because it is convenient after I leave work in the afternoon. However, the employees that are in the self checkout, need some more training on interaction with customers. Some of them have been rude to me, they don't greet anyone, just silent, and not friendly. I asked one young lady a question, and she leaned back like I would infect her, and I had a mask on, she didn't. I have discovered that the employees at the N. McGregor location are much more nicer and helpful. read more
