I purchased some money orders here. It turned out my apartment complex wouldn't take money orders. I also initially wrote the wrong leasing company name on the checks. So the money orders had some stuff crossed off, but had not been cashed. I even had the receipt for them. The store manager would not let me return or cash them. I went to the HEB in a different city where I live. And they cashed them instantly. The machine read them just fine. The manager at the Houston HEB said he wished he could have helped me, but didn't even try to. I would not recommend using customer service at the HEB at 9710 Katy Freeway. They put me in a bad spot. read more

I don't particularly shop here, only because parking is a nightmare but I had an awesome experience today. My lil bro needed his boutonniere for prom and everywhere else I called, they wouldn't take orders as I needed it for today. I walked into the store, hoping they could help me and the florist manager, Angie, was great. When I asked if they could do a bouttonniere, she asked what color I needed. While I went to pay, they began looking for the rose and after I paid, I only waited a few minutes for the staff member, Gabrielle, to create it. These guys are awesome! Curbside accidentally left an item out of my pickup. Called them to let them know...they gave me option of picking back up or reimbursement. Wouldn't be able to make it back for pickup and asked about delivery. Well...THEY MADE IT HAPOEN AND DELIVERED MY ITEM! This Heb is my favorite location to shop for my groceries. The produce and seafood is always super fresh. The sushi shop is amazing and taste better than some restaurants. I usually pick up gourmet cheeses and hummus to go with my wine. Did I mention I like their wine area? I always pick up a few bottles. Another area of amazement is the flower shop. Angie is great and will drop flowers for a quick arrangement. The flower selection is usually better than most grocery stores. The cons are it is usually packed. The service is usually good at checkout. I am a regular here and come weekly. read more

This is the mecca of budget grocery shopping, and it seems that everyone and their mom knows it. I live next to 4 different grocery stores, and still, I'll hop on I-10 to get my shop on here at HEB (I'm actually one of those weird ones that likes to go grocery shopping). God help you if you come during peak hours, however. I was there during rush hour a few days ago and wanted to start beating people to the side with the umbrella that I keep in my purse! The parking lot is huge, so don't worry about finding a space, but be prepared to walk! And like any other grocery store, you are going to run into the annoying people that look lost and leave their shopping carts in the middle of the aisle. But you have to give HEB credit where credit is due. There are so many options, it's no wonder people look lost. I can't say that one single aspects is spectacular because they all are. You see all your typical produce. plus fresh herbs, some still growing and some potted and sold for reasonable prices. You can also find exotic fruits with ease. They have an impressive bakery, CHEESE STATION, deli and even a couple of cooking connection stations where a chef shares his recipes and hands out free samples! They have a little bit of everything. I was impressed that the oriental section had Japanese sweet cooking beer (mirin). The organic/health foods are impressive. You can use the machines there to grind your own regular or honey roast peanut butter. The beer and wine selection is huge for a grocery store. The best part about HEB? The savings! If you push your cart over to the bathrooms, there is a wall covered in all the up to date coupons and promotionals that are available at that time. The buy this and get that free is actually relevant!! For example, they run promotions like, but this pasta, get this pasta sauce free, or buy a roasted chicken and get rolls, soda, mashed potatoes and green beans for free. On top of that they stock Hill Country products that are almost a dead ringer for the real thing. Why pay $3.48 for a box of NutraGrain if you can buy the Hill Country version for $2? Why buy Doritos for $2.88 when Hill Country's version taste the exact same? And again, you are only paying $2. Yes, I've memorized prices. I save so much money grocery shopping! And of course, HEB also has marked down prices everywhere. When you finally finish your shopping, the cashier will give you your total savings. This week I paid $143.76 and had a total savings of $23.12. That is 13.85%. If you don't come here for variety and quality, at the very least, come for the numbers. HEB doesn't dissapoint. read more

This has been our go to supermarket since moving to Spring Branch. This place is probably the biggest supermarket I've ever been too. It always stay clean and usually everything is organized. The selection is pretty much the same as the other HEBs with a great international section. The beer and wine selections are huge providing samples every time I'm there. The people here are much more nice than other HEBs and willing to answer any questions. The lines move fairly quickly since there's a lot of open cashiers. My only warning is that this place is always busy, so parking lot traffic is pretty much a mess. However, I've learn to park on the pharmacy drive-thru side for quick entrance and exit. read more

After reading my review on the Buffalo Speedway location, friend and coworker Melissa T. advised me to check out the I10/Bunker Hill location. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised! This is what all locations should strive to be. Every corner I turned I was greeted with smiling, helpful associates. I came in looking for two items, and ended up leaving with a couple of bagfuls (note to readers: Always choose the shopping basket vs. shopping cart if you plan to stick to your budget!). As a wine novice, I'm really not sure what makes a good wine. A store associate caught me looking confused and offered to help, providing samples of some wines he thought I might like. I ended up with the perfect bottle for a special occasion. The day I went, the sushi bar was handing out two types of rolls and dumplings. YUM! I could have lunch just off the samples they hand out here. Their produce section is large and better stocked than Buffalo Speedway. Yes, plenty of eggplants! Their ethnic food aisle is also very well stocked. My favorite Shan Biryani Masala mix was only 99 cents. Yes, that's a couple of pennies more than most Indian grocery stores, but I made more than that up in gas savings. When I got to the checkout lines, I was surprised at how many lines were open. Every line had a max of 2 customers. As it should be! What surprises me most though is the prices. The prices here seem to be overall a lot lower than Kroger and Randalls. I saw national brand cake mixes going for 50 cents. You CAN have your cake and eat it too! I really don't know how they manage to beat Kroger on prices when their store AND associates are so much better. Here EVERYTHING'S Better! read more

You know that feeling you get when you walk into the mall and look through all the windows of all the stores and wanna buy it all? That's how I feel. EVERY TIME I walk into this particular H.E.B, I wanna buy it ALL. It's such a treat to all the senses! We all know this H.E.B is friggin' gigantic. And I love the huge selection of everything they sell there! They have a huge organic fruits and vegetable section, they also have this fantastic deli and Café thing with a salad bar that has the best mozarella and penne salad! This H.E.B also has a designated gluten free section and to top it off they have an awesome healthy/organic section with awesome cereals and sauces and stuffs! My idea of fun after 12 hours of work is NOT sifting through isles of stuff and waiting in long lines. This H.E.B is the exception to that rule. Go see for yourself. Give whole foods a break. The curbside pick up is always packed, but it's not their fault, it gets extremely busy as it gets closer and closer to the holidays, it's the security guards that gets me fuming, they do not know how to handle a line of people coming in, instead of making 1 line like the usual security guard. They make 2 and make things difficult, it's insane how one person can make a difference, but when there's 2 it's just god awful. It takes up more of our time, it makes things complicated, and it's the fact they make a line at the exit that gets me irritated. Besides all that they're the reason I gave them a 1 star today, it took my literally 50+ minutes to wait in line and get my groceries. Absolutely absurd. If I had a picture I'd definitely post the two security guards. 1 star read more

CURBSIDE review I have used the curbside service about 6 or 7 times. I know it is a new service and they are probably working out the kinks. Website user interface is pretty good. I can generally put in what I am looking for and find it quickly. It has an add to list function, so if you order a product frequently you can access it quickly. There are always plenty of time slots available for pick up. Drive up, tell them your name and they will pack in car for you. If they don't have a product, they call me to see if I want a substitute or have it removed from the order. Of the 6 or 7 orders, 4 have been problems. One order was not ready at our scheduled pick up time, we had to wait about 30 mins. Second order they left out all the dairy products, 5 items. When I got home I called and the manager said he would look around and call me right back. 5 minutes later I received a call, he could not locate them, apologized, offered to deliver them to me. Third time, left out $25 dollars worth of meat. When I got home I called. Manager called back within 10 mins, said she reviewed video and all backs in the cart was placed in my car. Reasserted I did not receive them. She said she would credit my credit card, still waiting. Fourth time ordered two sheet cakes. Came 30 mins after my scheduled pick up time, and they were not even made yet. They offered to have them delivered when they were done ( about 2 hours after my pick up time). Advice: take a print out copy of the order with you. Go through the bags while there to make sure you have everything. Leave yourself time to do this. read more

The meal simple ready meals are such a quick and healthy midweek option when life is hectic. Without question, this is the best HEB that I have been to. Recently a coworker and I were talking about grocery store wine selections. I mentioned the Bunker Hill HEB and he just laughed. His response was "that doesn't surprise me, that is the GOOD HEB". His words said it all. This store reminds me more of an uncluttered central market than it does the traditional HEB. The produce is always fresh, there is a huge health foods section, organics, and the wine. To clarify, the wine selection will not rival Specs downtown (that is not possible in Houston), but is very impressive. They even have some surprises in the $100 to $200 price range that I would not expect to find at HEB (no I am not talking about the one bottle of Opus One and two bottles of Silver Oak that many grocery stores have on hand as a staple). They have an excellent selection that changes regularly and a wine manager that is quite knowledgeable. read more

I love this HEB, but apparently so does all of west Houston. They have so many great sections that you don't typically find in other grocery stores, so we call it the Mega HEB! They have great produce, seafood, deli and beer/wine sections. Then you have to check out their gifts sections with pretty unique home utensils, wine accessories, Texas proud chotchkies, soaps and candles....you really can get just about anything in this store! I particularly love their beer selection. It would rival some Spec's and they have a great craft beer selection. Then right around the corner is a huge selection of whole bean coffees. I can go on and on about this place, but like I said, I'm not the only one who loves this place. It's pretty crowded almost any time of day, especially on Sundays. Be prepared to brave crowds, but it is worth it! read more

I went here the other night with my Reid M., his GF, and my BF... I think the only thing I miss about living outside of the loop is the grocery stores. Seriously, we drove from the Medical Center to this location because Reid and his GF are fans of this particular H-E-B. They used to work nearby. But I digress. I can totally appreciate their enthusiasm for this place. It's well-stocked, well-maintained, and despite having a ridiculously full cart, we got out fast. The bagger was even paying attention and caught that Reid was buying a cold drink and -might- want to drink it right away! I haven't seen that kind of service since I lived in Katy. We spent a little more than we wanted to, but we also got the pancake batter in a can. Also, they have an amazing selection of frozen vegetarian food. (I like to eat such stuff when I'm home alone.) Plus, it's been three days now, and our place is still full of food. And, oh, my God, if you haven't tried H-E-B's lunch meat--the thinly shaved stuff in near the Oscar meyer junk--you gotta try their cracked pepper turkey. I normally dislike poultry, but I've been eating sandwiches everyday cos it's so good! Oh, you be we're coming back even if it is a half hour out of the way. read more

My husband and I have ended up on this side of town running errands and shopping. So naturally we stopped here to pick up essentials and goods for dinner. I'm really loving how all the new HEBs are being built. The one I go to in Round Rock when I visit my parents is the same set up. They have a variety of everything. If you're looking for natural and organic they have their fair share to choose from. Beer and wine selection is plentiful. A few weeks ago the highlight of our visit was when I finally got some Deuxnuts aka their version of the Cronut. Not to shabby. It was also filled one. I enjoyed it very much. I was so happy to go to HEB on Bunker Hill after almost a year, been in Austin for while. This store is always busy and I am not surprised. They have just about EVERYTHING! Bought my Kerrygold butter and cheese, orange marmalade like in France, to go with your croissants and my cranberry pistachio bread, almond butter, roast chicken ,one of the best in town. Love the lady chef and her Rasperry Chipotle on ribs, so yummy. Miss the gourmet coffee area with barrels of coffee beans. In Austin people worship fine coffee. Thanks to Raphael so kind, help me put my groceries in the car. I was there for 2 hours, spend a lot but I LOVE THAT HEB!!! read more

I would give NEGATIVE stars if I could, I've NEVER experienced disrespect like this at a store, from anyone. I'm a very nice person & I mind my own business, people can talk shit about me if they wanted and I wouldn't care. But when it comes to my dog who is my CHILD, no one messes with him. My dog is my service animal because I have a heart condition and he goes everywhere with me. I've been taking him to stores with me for years, and he always goes in the cart. he's a small dog, and he sits in the cart on his dog bed so people don't pet him and he can be close to me. It's never been a problem until this b!tch DINA (older lady that greets people at the entrance) bothered us. She told me I couldn't have him in the cart, I said it's never been a problem before and he's allowed because he's a service animal. She catches an attitude and tells me I need to take him out or leave. I decided to leave for the sake of my physical health. I then came back real quick to see her name tag and she literally pointed at the door and said bye. Then when she realized I was looking at her name she gives me another dirty look and says "My mAnAger iS riGhT tHeRe, yOu cAn tAlk tO hiM iF yOu wAnt". I will be calling to report her because as a service dog and for the sake of my physical health, my dog being in the cart is not an issue. It's actually illegal to mention anything about him because he's a service animal. I will never be coming back to this store & if you have animals definitely DON'T bring them to this store unless you want them to be disrespected by some ugly old white woman who has more yesterdays then tomorrows; so she finds any and all reason to b*tch to someone. read more

This is the absolute best grocery store in town. They have a huge fish market, florist area, bulk nut area. Fresh peanut butter you make yourself, a sushi area with 5 chefs constantly putting out resraurant grade (or better) sushi and many other things. To sum it up, this store is HUGE and has everything you could ever want or need to buy. I drive past multiple Krogers and Walmarts to travel here. It's constantly busy so be prepared to park FAR away. read more

I love this store. It is huge, has a great produce, bakery & meat departments. The prices are great but why does the majority of customer's IQ drop drastically when they step trough the door? Maybe it is the visual orgy of merchandise that totally captivates them. Or maybe it is because the free coffee is smack dab in the middle of the store and I have to run the "gauntlet of the clueless" getting there? Yeah, I think I needed the coffee. The bakery has a vast selection of breads and a little station where they make flour tortillas. The seafood and meat department always has a sale going on. Gotta love all of the free samples throughout the store, you are enticed into buying things that aren't on your list! The deli will pre-cut meat daily which they offer in an ice filled tub by the counter so you don't have to wait in line. The free coffee is a must have and they offer real cream, milk or skim milk. The employees are over the top friendly and very helpful. They will drop whatever they are doing to assist you & to make sure you are happy. The store is clean, the aisles uncluttered and easy to maneuver around/through. The frozen food section has motion detectors that activate the lights in the display case as you walk by so don't think you suddenly acquired some sort of super power. I live "in town" but work near this location, so I am able to shop here on my way home from work and my favorite part is that I can grab lunch here. The food counter here is awesome. They offer a "blue plate special" that is out of this world. From salmon, to kale salad, to cous cous, to quinoa, there are some delicious premium food options all placed in a convenient to-go container and only $5.99! read more

This HEB is my favorite HEB location. It has an awesome organic vegetables section that's right next to the entrance so we don't have to navigate the rest of the produce maze. The variety, freshness, and prices are relatively excellent for American supermarket standards in Houston. Sometimes they're missing organic spinach but that's okay--swiss chard can replace it. The atmosphere is pretty lively for a supermarket. It is pretty busy on Saturday afternoons but the parking lot is always calm with lots of extra spaces. I really like the free coffee next to the bulk coffee area. This HEB has a bulk food section and even a bulk candy section. The West third of the store is like Whole Foods/Central Market. The East two-thirds is like a friendlier Costco with shorter shelves. They even have a Precious Metals buying sub-store, Jewelry sub-store, nails place, etc... along the front periphery across from the checkout lanes. read more

This HEB is one of the best. There are three that are Closer to my house but I drive 15 minutes to come to this one. It is always stocked, especially the produce. I enjoy shopping here because it is Texas grown food which is reassuring knowing where it's all sourced from. The bad side- and it is bad - are two things; Flow: it is impossible to get through this store, the produce aisles are like a maze and there are people "home base"-ing their carriages everywhere so it is hard to get through. I hate coming here on weekends, it is a chore to get around this store at those times. Parking/ traffic flow: This is across the street from a Costco so the parking lot is nuts! Park in he back, do not go anywhere near the store or the light to cross to Costco. If you must shop at both, do Costco first, then pull out to the feeder rd to come here. Then when you are done at HEB you can go Right onto Bunker Hill or back on the feeder rd onto 10. read more

After my frustrating experience, I called corporate and left them a message. They responded within a day or two. I spoke to Cheryl and explained the situation, she was very kind and understanding. She wrote up a report and informed me the store manager will contact me to follow up. I just got off the phone with Oscar, the store manager of this HEB. He was very nice. He apologized repeatedly and explained to me, as I suspected, that even if the florist is closed, a manager is always available to open the drawers for me during the time HEB is open. He assured me this issue will be addressed so no one else will have to run into this problem. I am just happy they heard my voice and willing to correct what is wrong. I'm glad I can continue shopping here because they do have a great selection. =) read more

Even though the demographic from which they pull their workforce may be slightly more affluent, it does not make them slightly smarter. Or better at sacking your wears. Why yes, I was going to make that 1 1/2 inch think Ribeye steak into chicken fried steak. I will just put this charcoal back now, thanks. But this is an affliction of every grocery type store, not just this HEB. The next time I hear the sacker (girl) and the checker (guy) arguing over abortion law I want them to a) be old enough to vote b) be intelligent enough to have an informed opinion and c) the girl needs to throat punch the guy for his dissenting view. That being said, this store has freakin everything. Its generally very clean, parking is a cluster, and there is always someone trying to feed you bits of cheese or chicken salad. I like any place that wants, no craves, to feed you free food. The seafood selection is amazingly fresh, which makes me very happy. There is plenty of organic/gluten-free/healthy/holistic or whatever stuff to make your local Yogi think about shopping here rather than Whole Foods. Produce is abundant and fresh and the deli offers plenty of house roasted meats. All in all, I will and do drive out of my way to shop here. read more

Update: pharmacy ladies are a bit crazy. I think there is only one that interacts with customers and she does not like doing it. On another random note, the moist brisket that they sell for takeout is pretty good. It is slightly pricier than brisket house. Brisket house is better but HEB brisket beats out Goode Company by far and I would place it on par with Rudys. --------------- This is not an HEB specific problem, but it doesn't make sense to receive puzzled looks while standing under the "consultation" sign. By standing there, it means I would like to receive a brief medical consultation. Again, this is not an HEB specific problem but it doesn't seem like the redi-clinics really want to see too many people. So at least when I stand in the empty "consultation" line at the pharmacist, it means I would like information from a medical professional. I get that you aren't doctors but having the sign there means you are available for help. The advice I ultimately got was good, but it's just weird having to explain that you want a consult and that a consult means actually walking toward the customer and engaging in a conversation. my favorite store ever! they carry EVERYTHING and we rarely go anywhere else. if you ever have an issue, they will make it right. we don't even consider getting cakes from anywhere else. their bakery is amazing. one of my former coworkers was married to a QC person and told me that their main objective is for their brand to be as good as the national favorite, so I have always felt comfortable using the store brand. the only drawback is that it gets very crowded so I try to go at non prime times. if I do go at a busy time, I remind myself to be patient. it is worth it! read more

I rarely shop at this location but I went this past Saturday to do some birthday shopping. I made a stop by the bakery with no idea in mind which cake I wanted. I was greeted by a young man whose name I can't remember. He was very helpful. He went above and beyond for me and I could tell he really cared about the service he was providing. He picked out his favorite cake for me and it was a total hit at my party. This is now my heb mostly because of my fast and friendly visit at the bakery. the customer service here is great. finally a quality HEB inside the city that isn't their sister company central market. all of the good HEBs are always in the burbs. the staff actually greet you when you come in and go out. i've learned to appreciate that as it's personable and it makes the experience amiable. i always choose to go here just because it's nice and it's not as far from the heights as some may think it is, especially now that i10 is a lot easier to travel on traffic-wise. w00t! read more
