Trader Joe's on South Voss can get busy but the store is large, clean, and comfortable to shop in. Parking can sometimes get busy but never felt overwhelming in the many times we've been there. The items in this Trader Joe's feels pretty standard compared to others but the staff are incredibly friendly and willing to help you find what you're looking for. I feel like the customer service we've always received here goes beyond most other Trader Joe's locations that I've been to. I was very happy with the charcuterie/wine options there and were able to find great finds to partake in. If you're lucky you might even find gem snack. I have found a love for the Maple Leaf Cookies in particular. Definitely worth a stop if you're looking for groceries. The manager even thanked us for coming by on the way out, talk about great customer service. read more

Without fail, this particular Trader Joe's has some of the best customer service! I came into the store eight minutes prior to close, as (greeted?) by the associate at the door. Not to worry -- I came for one item only: something sweet to get me through the freeze warning, so I asked the cashier crew for recommendations. Just like an earlier visit where I was on the hunt for Harry Potter-themed goodies to build trivia night prizes for a hosting, Kevin, the manager was more than happy to not only survey what kind of "sweet" I was looking for, but politely walked me over to multiple options--as the clock nearing 9pm ticked along. By 8:57pm me and my rosé (hey, the Valentine's Day display advertising worked) and some Almond Windmill Cookies were comfortably home bound to await the freeze. Of the three Trader Joe's located in Houston proper, I'd say the one on Voss is my favorite. My rankings: 1st. Trader Joe's on Voss. 2nd. Trader Joe's on Westheimer. 3rd. Trader Joe's on Shepherd. Of the three, I think this store has the most square footage or at least it seems that way. This makes for a more comfortable shopping experience, in my opinion. It's hard to say which TJ's has the better parking, but I'd say it's a toss-up between Voss and Westheimer. I like how the aisles are arranged here. Also, this location seems to be well stocked. On my latest visit, I walked in to buy smoked salmon -- pastrami and everything flavors. On the way out, I picked up organic jalapeño limeade (Is the TJ's version just a front for Santa Cruz? lol). I don't get it. I know people who love TJ's, but it's not my type of place. The parking lot was crazy busy, so people must love it, but I don't. I'm not sure I understand the concept. I thought it was a bargain place, but the wine selection seems to be the same price I find at Tres Market. They have a frozen food section, a flower section, loads of wine, chips, and much more. They pack a lot into their tiny grocery store. I didn't recognize most of the brands. I'm not a fan of mass produced items, but I had never heard of some of these. Multiple store associates walked past me without even an attempt to assist. They barely made eye contact. I think I expected something different than what I encountered. Sorry TJ's. It's not the fanciest TJ's in town (#1), but I still love it all the same. What I appreciate from this location is the fact I can get most of what I want with no inventory issues, which is more than I can say about the sister spots. In addition to the usual gaggle of things I normally get, I think their flower selection and seasonal items are also better, which is a big plus. The dedicated parking lot is standard for all TJ's and during their busiest weekends, the area can be a bit tight. I appreciate the superb customer service, which has to be expected at most locations, but they do practice what they preach here. Despite what I noted about the parking, the place never feels too crowded. The store is clean, things are easy to find, and generally things are available. This has all the traditional feels of the average supermarket experience and they do that well. Produce is on point, the frozen section is stacked, and the wines are abundant. It seems silly to enjoy what would otherwise be a standard TJ experience, but the consistency is part of the draw. After all, good prices and outstanding customer service usually results in a quality shopping experience. I've gone so many times, I almost have their list of favorites memorized. Cookie butter Unexpected cheddar Everything but the bagel seasoning Soy chorizo Silver dollar pancakes Hold the cone ice cream cones And then just regular staples like bananas, kale, bok choy, eggs, sweet potatoes, tortillas, pasta and cans of garbanzo and Northern white beans. Always refreshing to visit Trader Joe's for Groceries! I make sure to grab everything important and delicious from there as per my needs. Service is great, food selection is awesome and very fresh. Miss the coffee samples that were served pre Covid era. My only issue is that @traderjoes should open in Fortbend County-- Sugarland/ Missouri City area as going 40 mins for a grocery takes a toll especially during summers when things can get bad fast! We would love to have them here and make them feel welcome and wanted !! I got few new things today, especially the Amareena Cherry goat cheese, Tirokafteri Greek cheese spread. pappadum chips, mini banana bread biscotti-- I still miss their seasonal cranberry biscotti, that they have stopped. Also found a new salmon rub spice, Italian poppyseed dressing; besides of course other repeats. Loved the fresh flowers of all seasonal varieties & couldn't stop myself from grabbing tulip bunches & beautify roses, sunflowers, hydrangeas, & they were at a good price. But orchids were around but priced closed to $20, which in the past were between $10-12. Post Covid they also stopped letting customers return anything that wasn't liked or approved by them. Nor can we taste things in general as was the special point of this grocer. So most customers have to be sure of the outcome of some new items. Came to this location for the first time. Bought the usual items that I always buy to send home as a care package. The Cocoa Batons, gummies, Almond Butter, dried fruits, chips, and many more food items. They're decently priced and they're great. I do miss the Ube pancake mix which is a seasonal thing. I also love their marshmallow graham cracker thingys, but I think they too are seasonal because I can't find them anywhere. The parking lot is small and the streets surrounding the area is horrendous. People don't know how to drive let alone, the roads being super trash with unleveled roadways and potholes. I have to admit I was skeptical about getting fresh fruits and vegetables from this location but as someone who loves to eat out I can really appreciate the quality Trader Joe's has at this location. At the entrance they have a greeter making sure everyone uses hand sanitizer. Thanks TJ . We are still in a pandemic right? To the right we see beautiful flowers for all occasions and prices that are also quite pleasing. As we ventured to the veggies we loaded up our cart with fresh basil still in the pot that smelled as amazing as it looked. Note to self: buy more for caprese salad at home. Their selection of spices . Tahini, organic sweetened condensed milk and organic heavy crepe to make homemade ice cream was exactly what I needed. TraderJoe's is my goto favorite place to shop when I want to get in and get out fast.They have an amazing selection of fruits and vegetables, frozen items that are not typical and the friendliest staff I have seen.Since I am trying to practice social distancing and heed the mayor's recommendation to wear a mask while outside while in the community, I really appreciated that most other shoppers and staff were following that recommendation too.Their staff did a great job with helping me find items needed to bake homemade bread and followed the 6 foot rule which I really appreciated since I work in the medical field I think it is crucial to do what we can to help us flatten the curve.After buying flatbread to make pizzas , a few chocolate items (because life is too short to go without ) and the other grocery staples I actually came for , I made my way to the sectioned off 6 foot markers Trader Joe's had on the floor to assist with the recommended social distancing. Purposely I went to the fastest and most courteous male checker who had put on new gloves and was wearing a mask.He was very helpful and when I asked why other TJ checker weren't wearing gloves or a mask he said his management team had the PPE but simply wasn't recommending it . After I left the store I spoke with the manager and she reported she hadn't heard any recommendations to mask in the news and no emails from Trader Joe's corporate had come through to require PPE so as a manager she didn't feel like she should tell her staff to do it .It was just personal preference. INTERESTING HUH?Well, that is why I am giving a 4 instead of a 5 to this store.Hopefully things will change soon .People will get better and we won't have to think about being as safe buying groceries .I still love shopping there and believe the people that work there are the best.They might just need a little extra guidance from the people who are their leads. read more

This has been the most social-distancing observant grocery store I've been to so far! They only allow a certain number of people in the store at once, so there was a small line to get in, but we didn't mind because they provide a covered area and markers on the ground for those waiting in line to hide from the shade while maintaining the 6 ft distance. In addition, they have a section for used carts, and a section for clean carts that they've sanitized. When it's your turn to go in, they give you some hand sanitizer. Inside is also not crowded at all, which is great. Despite all these changes, the employees at Trader Joe's have always been so happy to help! I asked whether they carried a certain item and while the employee wasn't sure, she said she would ask and find me later while I was shopping around to let me know. She found me again like a minute or two later with the answer! Definitely love shopping at Trader Joe's. They have great quality items for great prices. Definitely lower than what you'd pay for elsewhere for the same quality. They also have so many unique items that makes grocery shopping really fun. read more

It was my first time going to a Trader Joe's. It was on my way home from the dog park so I stopped in to get some groceries and to see what kind of Selection they had . I was a quite surprised to find out how dog unfriendly they are! I really didn't have any choice and they didn't allow me and my small service animal to shop. Trader Joe's has always been my favorite spot to buy snacks and groceries alike, but an experience I had today will forever stick with me. My brother and I visited TJ's yesterday to purchase fresh flowers for my father's memorial service. The selection was excellent and I loved all the flowers I purchased. I rushed home to assemble the arrangements and they looked beautiful. The next day, some of the flowers I used had wilted and I was crushed. Hours away from the memorial service, I called and spoke to the manager on duty, Philip, and I explained that I needed to have my flowers replaced because I was going to use them at the service. Philip went above and beyond and not only replaced the flowers that had wilted- he gifted me more flowers AND reassembled the arrangement. I love my neighborhood TJs! It can get busy at times but I've never had to wait for parking. I love that not matter how busy it gets the lines move fairly quickly. Cashiers are always friendly and suggesting new seasonal items or confirming how good they are. Some of my recent favorites has been the vegetable samosas, mushroom fettuccine, and dark chocolate coconut almonds. Also when it's season the matcha joe joes! My mom loves their plantain chips and I buy her 5-10 bags at a time because she doesn't live near TJs. The attendants always ask if I really love the chips LOL. This locations is SO much better than the one on S Shepherd.. it's easy to move around the parking is not too bad in my opinion- if you've been to the one in Montrose you would agree- I am not able to eat gluten (I am not GF by choice) and Trader Joe's really needs to improve their selection of gluten free and dairy free foods.... They barely carry anything at all.... Last time I was here I did have a wonderful staff member help me find gluten free cookies... I asked her where the Gf Oreos were and she went and asked her supervisor who told her they were out of stock she went and found me and then by herself scoped out every gluten free cookie option they had which was only two...then she also showed me the gluten free baking mixes etc which I have used many times and liked but my point is that she went above and beyond and took it upon herself to escort me around the store read more

Great place to shop for fresh and healthy items at affordable prices. Though, the parking is such a pain... seriously, whoever engineered the parking lot was not thinking straight. Nevertheless, I do like the location of the area, and the friendly staff members. I didn't know this until I randomly came in with my own bags, but FYI you get a free raffle ticket for a $25 gift card if you bring in your own bags. Score! Well... hopefully I win someday, but my intentions are to save the environment by utilizing less bags. I usually come to Traders Joe during the holiday season, as they have great holiday items like the peppermint chocolate marshmallows, ciders, and more. LOVE Trader Joe's! I always find what I need for a great price. If I can't find what I need, I know I can always ask an associate. This is where I buy my flowers from. I always get one of their $3.99 bouquets every 2-3 weeks. Where else can I find a nice arrangement of flowers for $3.99?! They have other plants as well, I'd love to get an orchid or two! When they had tulips, I purchased tulip bulbs (about 4 or 5) in a glass vase for only $8.99. Great price and it was such a gorgeous bloom. This location is smaller than others I've been to (S.Shepherd), but I love it - I'm never here longer than 30 minutes (unless I'm indecisive about what flowers to get). Also - they have really great reusable bags. My blue, insulated zipper bag is the BEST! I take it with me when I do my groceries, wherever I go!
