I have been so disappointed with food quality from restaurants lately that I've almost given up but I was so happily impressed and surprised with the Gyros! The meat was absolute perfection my mouth water is just thinking about it in the pita bread was warm and soft there was so much meat in there that I have enough for an another sandwich! Went here for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Gyros Grill is located in a strip mall and the space is really small so not ideal if you have a group (like over 4 people, I'd say). There was one guy behind the counter who took our order, cooked and plated our food, and served it to us. Nothing spectacular -- I was a bit skeptical at first. We had the gyro special (gyro sandwich + fries), Greek baklava, and the Mediterranean combo. Our food was delicious! The falafel was crispy and flavorful, the meat was tasty and tender. This is the Mediterranean food I've been searching for. The really great spots are few and far between, but this is it. This was the type of falafel that makes you go "I now realize I love falafels" and everything else I've tried has been top notch. I initially had this delivered to my hotel (which often leads to sub par food) and everything was so great that I'm now writing this after eating there a second time. The lentil soup is delicious, the gyro meat is perfect and the kuftas are backed with flavor. I'm fact-all of it was jammed with flavors in ways that immediately made me rethink all of my own home cooking. I can't possibly recommend this place enough. read more

They have the end unit at a small outdated strip mall, but after I tried their food looks can be deceiving. I never have had felafel's, so for sure I got some to try and what can I say I am in love. The crunchiness and the mild flavor, they sure where tasty. I also got a grilled chicken gyro which was also great. I have never ordered food where they have given me so much meat that I wish I had more tomatoes and lettuce! You definitely get your moneys worth. Very slow. And have to wait a long time to be served the food is cold rice dry, and pita soggy. The gyros always old and reheated and dried out and kind of crispy. The samoas taste like their fried in turpentine. This is not the place to go if you want a good gyro. The baklava tastes like it's 3 weeks old. Stopped by here tonight on our way home. It was later (745pm- they close at 8pm) so we ordered our food to go. Ordered two gyros with fries and they were amazing!!! The meat was tender and well seasoned and there was what felt like a whole pound of it in each gyro. They were also pretty generous with the amount of fries they gave us. Will definitely return when in the area, and am looking forward to trying other things on their menu. As far as ambiance goes- this is your typical family deli style eatery. No servers, just a few plain tables. Completely adequate for a casual eatery but think I'll continue getting my food as take out since this is on our way home anyways. read more

So...I ordered a gyro, fries & onion rings. Best gyro I've ever had...hands down...ton of meat like I've never seen and it was so perfect tasting! Kind of disgusted by the clump of yellow lettuce in it with a piece of the core in it but they had plenty of other better pieces in it thankfully that pulling the yellow out was inconsequential. ON THE OTHER HAND They also served me the absolute WORST fries and onion rings I've ever had the misfortune of eating. Honestly the fries are nothings...there's no potatoes in them...so when you bite into them it's a deep fried crisp of potato that's so saturated with grease that my stomach instantly tried to reject them. The onion rings were SO bland and the onion in them was paper thin! IF I ever go back there I will only get the FANTASTIC gyro they sell... This was the 3rd time I've been there over 20 yrs and the owner seems to give of a vibe of unappreciation and like I'm bothering him. read more

Recently moved to about a block away from this place and being a big fan of gyro's, it was among the first places I tried. I will say, that it isn't the most appealing building or area, but those are the best places right? The food is excellent, as I've had both the gyro sandwich and gyro combination plate. The fries are average: thick cut, starchy and a little on the drier side, but I'm not gonna dock a Mediterranean place on American fries. For $2 more, forget the fries and get the plate, as you get a bunch more food, with way more meat, lots of rice and hummus, in addition to the pita, lettuce, tomato and tzitki sauce (which is great by the way). Employees and owners are very nice and polite, and I've been there about 7 or 8 times! Glad it's so close to my place! Will be back often. read more

I rarely eat out for several reasons and look for locally owned and food prepared with enthusiasm and love. Gyros Grill fulfills all my desires and now that I've tasted the Lebanese baklava I'll be a regular. There is also a Greek baklava and of course I will have to try it one day, but, for now, the melt in your mouth Lebanese is too good to pass. I've tried the lentil soup, thick and flavorful, chicken wings, spiced just right and the new sub was great with it's unique bun. Great news! They are expanding their seating area and as busy as it always it is, I have thoughts they may have to expand to a larger storefront one day. I would certainly follow wherever they go! read more

Small place but the food is good. You order and pay first at the counter and then they'll bring you your food. My wife has tried gyros from different places and this one tops it. The hummus is tasty unlike other places where it's too dry, too chunky or has no flavor. We tried their Turkish hot coffee and it was just the way I like it. We are always on the look-out for greek/lebanese food in the Twin Cities, and a Groupon-type object brought this place into existence for us. We visited on a Saturday for lunch; I had the gyros and my husband had the Jerusalem plate. The meat was tender, perfectly spiced and delish tzatziki sauce. The Jerusalem plate (which is actually an appetizer) was perfect--a sampler plate full of gyros, hummus, rice, falafal and one or two other items. The falafal was perfectly done: crispy on the outside and seasoned on the inside. We will be back and we will both order the Jerusalem plate--really delicious. It was so tasty, that my 15-month son was all about this place. As soon as we can teach him to say, "Opa!" we will be back. read more

My husband and I visited this place to grab cheap middle eastern food before heading to the Mall of America. It's a hole in the wall restaurant in a small strip mall, so we actually had high expectations for yummy, authentic food. We ordered a falafel wrap, lentil soup and a fish sandwich that cost around $25. Both sandwiches came with fries. We dined in at one of the few tables. We received our meals and were not impressed with the quality. Falafel had little flavor and wrap had iceberg lettuce, tomato and we added pickles; no tabbouli like better wraps have. Very heavily fried and crispy. fish sandwich had onions and iceburg with tomato and also very fried/crispy but lacked flavor. Lentil soup was watery and tasted like Campbell's chicken soup with a hint of potato. Overall, this didn't have much flavor and tasted like low quality fried bowling alley or bar food. Restroom was available but not very clean. Maybe their gyros are better? read more

Went here with a co-worker after we had been discussing Turkish food (his wife is from Turkey). We just searched for the closest place that we could get a gyro at and decided to give it a go. I see that other reviews have mentioned some customer service issues. We didn't experience any of that. The guy at the counter was friendly. The cook was just a bit slow, otherwise they seemed fine to me. The place was pretty easy to find, even if we did take the ridiculous side road back way. It's a small storefront in a small strip mall. Inside, they have a small grocery area and then they have the counter to order food. When we went in on a weekday at lunch time, there was only 1 other person in there eating. One man was working the counter and another was cooking. We both ordered Gyros. I got the combo that included fries and a soda as well. It took them a while to make the Gyros, even though there wasn't anyone else there. Maybe 10 minutes. Longer than I would have though. The fries I got were lukewarm and soggy. They had just been sitting in a warmer drawer. Not sure how long they had been there. The gyro was pretty solid. Good bread. Great seasoned meat. The tzaiki sauce was a little mild. Not as bold and flavorful as I would have like. But still sort of tame and tangy. Good sandwich overall. Would have given them another star if the fries would have been fresh. My co-worker who routinely eats this sort of food at home also gave the sandwich a thumbs-up. We'll probably stop back here again sometime for lunch, since Dino's off France in Edina is just a tad bit too far to reach for our lunch break. read more

I wanted to like this place as it was very close by. Only one person is behind the counter cooking and doing cashier duties. I gave him a twenty, He handled my cash, and without using gloves grabbed some pits bread with his hand and put it in my to go container. I figured if he does this kind of stuff in front of customers how sanitary can this place be? I used to work in food and food safety is so important.
