    Hummus appetizer place
    Margie A.

I'm still confused about why this place is named Golden Fingers (making a mental note to ask next time) but don't let it deter you from trying this place out! A friend and I needed to go to a theater show nearby & found this place on yelp. The fact that they had a deal for 10% off your first order led us to choose this place over others. We needed to find a place that was also vegetarian-friendly and this place looked like it had a number of options. They sadly had run out of vegetarian nuggets by the time we arrived but my friend got their hummus appetizer, falafel, & vegetarian (potato) samosa. I got their gyro & a meat samosa. All were really good, especially for the price ($7.50 for mine). I recommend asking for their various sauces. I liked the green sauce the best since it had some kick. Overall, had a great experience here. Staff were super friendly & even asked how everything was after we'd been eating for awhile. This place has a neighborhood-favorite kind of feel where the locals go after work or with their families. So join the locals and check this place out especially if you're looking for an affordable but satisfying meal!

    Chicken Suqqar

A relatively unassuming spot on the corner of Chicago and Franklin, Golden Fingers has become my neighborhood go to. They offer African, Mediterranean, Indian, and fried American foods that are all cooked to order. After trying a few things, the chicken suqqar has become my absolute go to. Perfectly seasoned chicken, yellow rice, grilled peppers, grilled onions, then a small salad on side with lime wedges. I get mine spicy, so they include house made green hot sauce (won't kill you and has quite a bit of flavor). I prefer to mix all of mine together, as the tomatoes and cucumbers from the salad actually compliment the dish quite well. Like most African spots, the meal is served with a banana as well. It's a steal for around $7 at lunch and $10 at dinner. Service is awesome, but depending on how busy it is, it may take a little time. I'd DEFINITELY recommend calling in before hand. Food is all made fresh to order and there's no shortage of hand sanitizer for anyone who needs it. Staff follows all COVID protocols and once they get to know your face, become quite inviting. You are able to dine in now with proper distancing, but it is still counter service. Does Golden Fingers offer five star ambiance? No. It's a corner, neighborhood spot. However, it does give you five star quality food for the price you pay and five star service!

Golden Fingers Shawarma Feast, Gyro Cheese Fries

I am so so impressed by the portions and quality for price at Golden Fingers! I ordered the Shawarma feast which came in a full sized aluminum server tray and filled to the top with yummy saffron rice, tender meats, and came with two drinks, hummus, and pita! Wow o wow. The quality for the cost is amazing. I also got the gyro fries which were extremely cheesy and also a good portion but not super flavorful. Think philly cheese fries :) the food was extremely freshly made and I ordered for pick up and only had to wait ~5 minutes for the food to finish up. The place itself isn't very well decorated, but I still dig the club lights on the ceiling. Definitely could use some work on keeping the tables and floor cleaned which is why I'm giving it 4 stars, but the food itself is reason enough for me to come back!

    Gyro and Fries combo

Went in to get a Gyro and Fries combo. It was easy order for take out. I'm a no salt fry person, but forgot to request no salt. Luckily the cook only used a little. Sandwich was a good size, but I didn't open it until I got home and no cucumber sauce. Next time I will request it on the side. I had some ranch dressing so that worked. Fries were good and crunchy. I just got a can soda since it was a combo. I would try different foods here. The area is always sketchy, but the place looked clean.

And I was on board. We made reservations without another thought. I ended up googling the menu and realizing my partner was a little off on what type of cuisine this was and I was in unfamiliar territory though still excited to try. We loved every second of our experience here! The decor was amazing, the service was exceptional, the food was to die for. They had a special Valentine's Day menu which included beef Wellington for two, so we got that. Asked if it had sides and they said no. I asked if a veg was possible, expecting frozen, microwaved bland veggies. We got beautifully roasted, seasoned veggies that were amazing. Plus the beef Wellington was melting in our mouths. Cocktails were also exceptional. We had an espresso martini and old fashioned which came with a table side experience. We ended our adventure with the sticky toffee torte which was another exceptional dish. Our server was so kind and so so knowledgeable about every item and restaurant in the owners catalog. Very impressive all around.

It's not that busy, maybe 10-20% full from 8:30 pm and beyond. Vibes = 2/10. What about the food? I've traveled all over the Mediterranean and Middle East. I'd give the Shashuka a 5-6 out of 10. It was supposed to be served with crepes and I had visions of Saluf and Sons Yemeni restaurant in Tel Aviv (now closed). Here it was served with a French bread / hot dog bun. Crepe???? I guess French bread and crepes are from the same country, but count me as unimpressed.

Orders are placed online for dining (with servers available for help, questions) We started with a spinach feta and a mushroom Bougatsa (have yet to find another Greek restaurant that offers Bougatsas). Also ordered a combo trio of Dips-Tarama, Tyro, and Melitzana-all delicious! For lunch, we kept it light and ordered the Scallops Saganaki (large) to share. So sublime that we wanted to order a few more! Service was exceptional from beginning to end. Unfortunately, we found out there are plans to close the restaurant-no date given -so much exceptional food enjoyed here and many wonderful memories! As Bourdain said, "this is one of those spots I would visit daily/weekly until the money ran out."Hopefully, somehow, they stay open!
