Gyro Grill - a plate of food on a wooden table - Middle Eastern Near Me - Wayne, New Jersey

Went here with my girlfriend to get some lunch and we were craving some Mediterranean food and we saw some great reviews and had to check this out. We entered and the head of the restaurant was very busy but attentive and got our orders fast and out to our tables quickly. The owner popped out and from witnessing his energy he seems like a genuinely nice owner who cares for his patrons and the experience they have dining at his restaurant. The food came out in huge portions for an amazing price. We went for the Yummy Platters both being chicken and mine with the spicy rice. This was delicious. It reminded me of my great aunts Afghan cooking with the spices and I fell in love. The food tasted fresh and the meat was all so perfectly seasoned and tender. I ate as much as I could before I wanted to explode but I kept going back for more. My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed it as well. As for the Baba Ganuj it was def not our type of dip and would prefer the humus but I'm glad I gave it a shot. I'd definitely recommend this place and I plan on coming back very soon. read more

See all

Love the owner but his workers really should listen to the customers needs . I asked for a well done kofte kebab and mentioned it more than once to please make sure it's well done and I still got it with pink meat . I also asked for salad dressing to be included and I got my salad with no dressing :( it's a shame because the owner is sweet but his workers? Not so much... read more

Excellent food !!! The owner is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING such a nice man! Totally recommend this restaurant!

The service was amazing. The wait was very long but the staff kept us informed about time and were so lovely. It was a Saturday night and thankfully it was busy. We ordering the large appetizer platter and the babaganoush was the best i have ever had. Everything on the platter was very good. My shrimp dish was very good. Someone had the salad and it was good. One ordered the shwarma and it was just ok. I would go back though read more

I'm not sure what was more amazing, the quality of the food or the very friendly owner that made sure we were having the best experience ever. We really enjoyed the lamb and chicken kabobs, the chicken shawerma, the hummus and baba ghanouj. If you're looking for a delicious and affordable option on the menu, try the yummy platter. The rice they serve with that is delicious and it comes topped with tzatziki sauce (which is really good here). You really can't go wrong with this place. read more

I ordered food from a seafood place next door. When I got there the seafood place was not open. I went in Gyro Grill to get the info. The guy at the register was very helpful. He called the owner of the seafood place for me. I ended up getting turkish coffee and a desert pastry. He did not charge me. He might feel bad I had to drive 40 mins to get the food. What a great guy with kind heart! I came home and tried the desert. It was the best! I will definitely make a trip to this place again!! read more

This place is great! I ate here with my wife and we loved it so much we came back a few days later with the whole family. All of our food was outstanding both times. We'll be coming back often. read more

I live in Wayne and I have ordered here before for takeout. I had some work done on our house so we had to stay at the Marriott across the street. I ordered some food for my wife and I and was coming to pick it up. The owner was extremely nice- I asked him if I could order some Baklava and 2 waters. He said sure. I waited to try and pay as I had already paid for my other food. He said just take it and have a good night. It was very shocking to see appreciation like that from people nowadays. Please go here and support our local restaurants in Wayne NJ read more

The homemade hummus is excellent. This place has become a weekly destination for some fantastic dishes.

The food is delicious! The owner greets you when you enter & personally takes care of your order. I love this local restaurant & business!

Shlomo is awesome and the food is great. He always gives back to the community. If you are in Wayne you should definitely go here.

Excellent authentic fresh middle eastern food with reasonable price . We will definitely will have this place on our to go list

The price is reasonable. The Schwarma was too salty and the falafel was too dry for me. The people were nice

Food is excellent And the service is excellent as well. Great environment. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. One of the best Mediterranean restaurant I ever went to. Went there a few times and will continue to go! read more

We were referred to the Gyro Grill by family and had to try it out. Actually came from Clifton to there spot in Wayne then home to Lincoln Park...well worth it!! Upon entering, we were hereby the gentleman owner who was pleasant and friendly . We ordered the Kibbe app, baba ghanoush app, chicken kebob sandwich and beef gyro sandwich and side of spicy rice. All delicious!! Their pita bread was fresh and perfect for dipping. Yum! Will definitely order again!! read more

Think I've been here three times now, all for take-out. I've had two platters, two sandwiches, soup, and two 'dips.' All have been delicious. The folks behind the counter are super friendly too! One of the times I picked up, I left without my order of hummus. I called when I got home and they said, yes, I had left before it came out. No problem. Just remind us next time. Next time came, I reminded them, and they put the order right in the bag, no questions asked. First time there, they gave me a first time there discount. The 'Yummy' platters come with a choice of rice. Get the spicy one. Very tasty, and not spicy hot at all. The falafel sandwich is packed with falafel and salad. My favorite in the area! Hummus and Baba Gannoush were both delicious. So, good food, friendly service and reasonable prices make for a five-star review. I'll keep going back! read more

Amazing food, great environment, very friendly servers. Tedious about the safety of others during this Covid pandemic. read more

Was craving for Mediterranean food when I was in the area. Picked up the lamb gyro. Food took nearly 40 minutes to come out. I guess they were a bit busy. The lamb although you can tell it was fresh, was not cooked to my liking. It wasn't marinated well and had a lot blood left inside. The hummus and the salad and the rice were nice however. read more

Awesome food and even better staff! The owner is so very nice and seems to know everyone and genuinely cares for them. I LOVE that I always see him support law enforcement as well! read more

I love the food. I love the service. I love the value. But what stands out most about Gyro Grill is how you are meant to feel like family as soon as you walk in the door. Shlomo, the owner greets everyone with a sincere and friendly welcome which magically sets the tone for a unique dining experience. He is genuine and sincere and his food is truly outstanding. Generous servings, a well adjusted group of staff, and great food. They're busy on the weekends, understandably, but the owner always pokes his head out in the crowd to reassure me that my food is coming up. It's those kinds of little personal touches that really make a place feel more friendly. read more

While I don't usually leave reviews on establishments, I found it was necessary to leave a review on the service and the food from my visit to Gyro Grill last night. I went last night to pick up dinner for my family and was so appreciative of the amazing service by the owner and all employees. I've never been here before so I had a few questions regarding the menu and they literally explained everything in full detail and even threw in extra dinner for my daughter who wanted chicken nuggets and french fries. Everything was hot, crispy and very flavorful. Portion size was more than I expected and I can gladly say I will be returning here more often. read more
