We walked the city as we were in town for 2 days after spending a week in Firenze and found this place by accident. As cheese lovers, we noticed the cheese window with all the different cheeses maturing as we walked by.. Looked pretty cosy from the outside and we were very happy when we walked in. I had dinner here in December 2014 and enjoyed it so much I had to go back on this trip. This location has what 'feels' like 3 - a restaurant, a nice Osteria and a casual wine/appertivo bar. This time I went to the casual bar to enjoy a drink and the included cold snack buffet. Everything was delicious on both visits. The only disappointment was the 'free' WiFi forces you to register with both your email and mobile number; although it said it would text me a user name and password, it never did so I couldn't get online. As an American, I like to pay the tab as soon as I am done eating. I won't take a star away for them allowing their customers to linger as long as they like. The waiter was unobtrusive and friendly. The menu is modern Italian, the wine list has good variety and the cocktails were creative. I will definitely return! read more

This is our place for dinner with friends (locals) on Fridays. Sister to the Gusto bar just around the corner, this is more of a table cloth restaurant inside but is also casual for outdoor seating. Both cheese and charcuterie plates are phenom. They are known for their cheese so ask for a mixed plate of cheese and or meat and you will be in good hands. Their pasta and apps which vary per season are all extremely delicious. If you want more of a dining dinner experience, as for the table inside up on the "second" floor, just up a few steps or if you want more relaxed dinner experience, take a seat outside. They also do happy hour for $10 or $15 with unlimited appetizer. Location is also ideal, just tucked inside the major shopping area so you will be away from the big crowds and big street. read more

This was a random, incredible, find for us. After two weeks of pasta and pizza I was looking for a salad and was more than pleased to try their Cesar salad ( a rare find for Italy it seems). The salad had crispy bacon and croutons that were heavenly. My husband had the amatriciana pasta with the crispy bacon and the sauce was heavenly. We highly recommend eating here. read more

Spanish steps were closed due to renovation and headed away from tourist locations and stumbled across this gem. Started with a cheese listing longer than the extensive wine list and i knew we had the right spot. Started with mixed appetizer platter of meat and cheese which was exceptional and reasonable. Had a nice wine but vintage advertised (2009 Jermann vintage) was substituted for the 2013 which was good but not the same as the '09 vintage. Ravioli was good, chicken cacciatore was exceptional and why the meal was so good. Everything was very good - prices are a bit high but service was good and value was good. Only bad things - no wifi, 2.5€ for bread. Still worth 4 stars. read more

So I'd be giving another 2 stars if we received good....or even decent service. It's one of the few times out of my several visits to Rome that we've been treated so poorly by the wait staff. The steak tartare was very nice and the carbonara was some of the best we had. Stay away from the caprese as they tried to serve it with green tomatoes. Hmmm? It would have been accompanied well by bread but we couldn't get any to the table until about half way through our meal. We had 2 couples with us that are unfamiliar with Italian dining so it was a bit of a challenge communicating without my helping to translate. If you're seeking great cuisine with a great experience do not go to Gusta. They do not appreciate that tourists help to pay their paychecks. read more

The waiters are rude and arrogant. Not one better than the other. We waited more than 15 just to get our menu. Service in general in Italy is poor but this place topped them all. This would NEVER happen in America. The waiter took our order then came back 15 minutes later to ask again cause he forgot . then his friends arrived and he was all smiles and chipper with them took their order and THEY got their order first. now almost an hour and a half in to the experience I got my dish and my husband got his when I was just about done eating mine, even though I ate as slow as possible. read more

The appetizers were likely the best part of the meal (salmon tartare and zucchini flower). The pasta was good but not extraordinary (pappardelle, carbonara, gnochietti, fusilli). The main dishes were not great. Steak that was tough and not prepared as asked, pork tenderloin that was uninspired, and salmon that was bland. We skipped sweets. We had a large group and they were able to accommodate us very easily which was nice. The owner was very attentive and helpful to suggest appetizers that were good to share for our group. However we had been dinning at such fantAstic places through our whole trip that this place feel a bit short. We had the fried zucchini blossoms that were good but not great. Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella was good. The various pastas and meats we ordered for dinner were good but not great. This restaurant is an ideal spot for drinks outside, but the food is very bad. We ordered a dish with mussels and squid and both tasted and smelled of rotten seafood. When I handed back my entree to the waiter, he disappeared and never returned. We were forced to close our tab with another waiter who acted as if he was unaware of our issue with the entrees. Was actually looking for the pizza place also called gusto, but stumbled upon this gem. Sat outside, was quiet and peaceful, waiter was friendly and efficient, food was good: I had beef tartare and beef veal with potatoes, both good, so was the red wine the waiter recommended, and portions were large. It's in a relative quiet spot, although popular, didn't feel touristy at all. Inside decor was very interesting and charming. Spoiled Californian with massively fresh seafood - not the freshest I have had. Agreed w / earlier assessment of mostly cooked tagatelli w/ vongole - crunchy bits. Clams excellent. Look elsewhere if you aren't from around town, you will be treated like a Roman slave... We blew 80 euros. Don't get seduced by the ambiance of quiet hide away street away from the tourist traps and modern design interior and local crowd. It's as if all the staff, management, and owner care about are appearances. We sat outside on the patio with a total of 2 tables being served (prior to his two female friends arrival, I will get to that in a moment) The entire experience was almost 3 hours and not because my wife and I were caught up in the romance. No - because that's how long it took when you account for the gaps of time required to get a menu, place an order, wait for each part of our meal which arrived 15 minutes after the waiters friends received theirs - which by the way, they arrived 30 minutes after us (45 minutes total). My meal arrived 10 minutes after my wife's. The waiter continued to talk with his friends directly behind us about who knows what while we sat with empty plates. when it finally came to getting our bill it took another 15 minutes to return. The only reason it finally arrived was because after our waiter passed our table twice and saw our dirty looks. We finally took the bill inside to pay as quickly as possible. Our waiter passes by us and tells us we can "pay here." Yeah thanks. Even the guy at the register was rude. I can't even say how great the food was because we had such a horrible taste in our mouth from the beginning. Keep an eye out for the tall Italian waiter with hair pulled back in a short pony tail = useless. He definitely isn't working for tips or rather definitely isn't working, period. read more
