Me and my friend went in on the last day of the month (payday) bar and restaurant were very busy. The cocktail waitress was very quick and I ordered my favourite cocktail (not on their menu) yet Leanne new how to make it. Last Sunday, the boyfriend and I decided to take an impromptu trip to Gusto in Alderley Edge for a bite to eat. We booked a table just a couple of hours ahead, and they had enough space to squeeze us in. We were seated in a beautiful booth right near the window. To start, I decided on the bruschetta. They have 3 bruschetta options in total (impressive), but after a little deliberation I chose the beetroot, red onion and cranberry bruschetta with goat's cheese and a walnut dressing. The bread was substantial enough for a starter but still light and crispy, which worked really well with the toppings. The goats cheese was also slightly toasted which worked, and the walnut dressing really was delicious. I could have eaten a whole other piece if it were there - not sure what that says about the portion size, as I was particularly ravenous! Bradley chose the Fritto misto of sardine, prawn and squid with pan fried garlic polenta, green gazpacho and lemon purée. It goes without saying he enjoyed it; he had eaten the entire thing before I had chance to take a photo... :-) For the main course, we both decided we fancied a steak. As not to be too greedy, and keep options light, we went for the 28 day-aged flattened rump steak with garlic, chilli, peppercorn, sea salt, rocket and Grana Padano cheese. We shared 3 side orders to bulk it out a little, steamed spinach with sea salt, fries and Italian fried courgettes. The steak was well-cooked, perfectly seasoned and still hot throughout from the griddle. I mention hot throughout as sometimes you find flattened steaks to be a little too cold once they reach the table. It was also melt-in-your-mouth tender and we both ate every last bit. The chilli flakes are also such a good addition, which gives it a subtle but noticeable bit of spice. Yummy. The sides were also excellent - fries, hot, nice and crispy and the spinach tasted really fresh and was seasoned well with the sea salt. However, it was the Italian fried courgettes which really stole the show. So light, so crispy, seasoned to perfection with the courgette still maintaining it's slightly bitter flavour inside. A very generous portion too which helps when sharing! The texture and bite remained in the middle of each lightly battered strand. Genius, and the best version of fried courgettes I have ever tasted. Well done, Gusto! On to puddings, and I decided to keep it stodge-free and simple, so went for this delightful little Ginger panna cotta with confit clementine. I was so pleasantly surprised by this pudding, the panna cotta was perfectly set and you could still see the writing of the mould on the top, which I thought was a nice touch- intentional or not! The panna cotta itself was light and creamy, with prominent ginger and a soft vanilla flavour coming through. It was accompanied by a medley of strawberries and clementines which were sweet but still had a lovely bite to them, which indicated they were nice and fresh. Carefully sprinkled beneath and above them was a crunchy chocolate dusting which added a lovely extra sweetness and texture. Just yummy. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed, luckily we had booked so were seated straight away...so I'd recommend booking! There was a really nice atmosphere and the staff were extremely efficient and polite. The menu is extensive, so there's enough choice for everyone. It's reasonably priced with really generous portions. Our starters and mains were all gorgeous! Would definitely recommend! Just make sure you book! read more

It was my Mothers Birthday and so my Sister and I as dutiful children took her out for a meal. Gusto looks amazing, the setting, the ambience it all works with each other, the staff come across pleasant and helpful. the menu is filled with a variety of dishes, including a whole lobster if you've go the moola. Starter I had Bruschetta, Duck Liver Pâté and caramelized onions. very tasty but waaaay to much pâté I left half of it after I'd used everything else. I kick myself sometimes when I go out for food, in a place like that with a wonderfully looking selection of delights I actually ended up picking the burger. With what the others got, I should have chosen something else. Sadly the burger was dissapointing, it was fairly dry, the chips with it were nice. Dessert I didn't have one but did try the tiramasu that someone else chose, it was alright but with a slightly funny after taste to the cheese which put my sister off having more than a couple of spoonfuls, just to clarify not a strange taste like it was off, just that it wasn't prepared/seasoned (do you season a dessert?) right, and the cakey/biscuit bit (can never remember the name of what it's made of) was fairly dry not much alcohol/coffee moistener, and between us we've eaten a lot of tiramasu over the many years as its one of our favourite desserts. we paid about £30 a head so really not a badly priced meal, but the food didn't blow me away, and while the people I was with liked their food they didn't feel it was stunning etc. Sooo this place does end up with an 'A-OK' I wouldn't 'not' go again but I'm not desperate to make the trip back. read more

Gusto is superficially a buzzing bistro, but what it offers is amateurish. Lad that brought the drinks lifted every single one by holding the glass over the top, by the rim. Yuck. So obviously (1) you can be utterly clueless about waiting and hygiene and still get a job at Gusto and (2) they don't provide even the most basic training. "Tiger prawns" were just dull little prawns, obviously not fresh, lacking in taste and texture. Beef medallions were small and almost well-done (I ordered medium). And expensive. £23 for a small amount of beef with no sides worth speaking of. I must confess we didn't give them a chance to make it right - it's a drag complaining. And I feared it wouldn't achieve much. The experience suggest the manager is clueless or doesn't care (or both). Still, the place is busy. It's the UK so there are probably enough customers who enjoy the atmosphere and location and don't know much about food and service. Sad, but that's life. Personally, I think they're doing a poor job and won't be back. read more

Oh no! Bad bad bad, who decided to change the wonderful Est Est Est into this, ok the interiors not changed that much (well not at all!) but my goodness the food! It's awful! I mean I had the worst desert I've ever had!! The pasta was far too creamy (and this coming from a girl who could live off creamy pasta!) the desert came covered in nuts! (no mention of this in the description) and the raisin bread had NO raisins in and looked decidedly like ciabatta, well it was ciabatta NOT raisin bread as described - I do think the chef and the menu writer need to get together and discuss. Gusto's is a bustling Italian restaurant and bar in Alderley Edge that offers a very modern sort of ambiance. I've eaten here a number of times as I travel for business to the area, and Gusto's is a reliable choice. With a full bar offering up a number of different alcohol options, and an extensive wine and beer list, it's a good place to go for drinks followed by dinner. The food options are good, with a number of different Italian options to suit anyone in your party. While the food isn't necessarily mind-blowing, it's good and will hit the spot if you're looking for some pasta or pizza. The acoustics aren't great for carrying conversation, as the high ceilings and giant open room don't do much by way of muffling the sound bounce, and the lighting tends to be more towards the "mood lighting" end of the spectrum. It's a good, trendy place to take someone for a date or a fun night out. read more

I often go for a week night dinner at Gusto in Alderley Edge! I like all of the Gustos very much, but the Alderley one brings a little bit of something different to the table! It's very classy but affordable and the staff are lovely. The menu is the same across all of the Gustos, so the only thing that would make you travel afield to this restaurant is the venue. It's very pretty inside, with fairy lights on the spiral staircase and on be glass windows in the ceilings. I often go with my family but this location would make a very romantic date night, and Alderley Edge would make a fun night out on a weekend after an earlier meal you could venture into one of the nearby bars or bistros! I would recommend the smoked salmon starter, the duck rigatoni with pistachio for main and then for dessert you should not even entertain anything else other than the salted caramel and banana meringue! We turned up on a Saturday lunchtime, so we were expecting to have a slight delay in waiting for a table, but after a couple of sips of classic Italian white we were taken to our seats, which was a relief as the aromas flowing had got our tummies rumbling! As with many restaurants, choosing took a great deal of time as everything looked and sounded delicious. To start we couldn't resist the garlic pizza bread with mozzarella. The chargrilled chicken and seafood risotto were both perfect ways to finish off the meal, with absolutely no room for any desserts, but for next time we'll skip the starter and definately save room for the sweet banoffee or nutella and marscapone calzone! There was a great atmosphere in this establishment, and though the tables were slightly close together that only added to the intimate feel to the place. The building itself is beautiful and well looked after, much like the clientele you'd expect from Alderley Edge. read more

I visited Gusto (again!) last Friday and once again everything was faultless! The service was prompt and friendly without being over powering, our pre-dinner Mojito's we're some of the best I've had in a while and the food was incredible, I can highly recommend the scallops & prawn spaghetti - mmmmmm! I'm getting hungry thinking about it! As it was Friday night the bar was pretty busy which gave the place a real buzz. read more

I was really disappointed with my visit to Gustos last weekend. I asked for a small glass of wine, the first glass had lipstick on it and the second had a crack in the stem. It wasn't to long ago that they steamed the glasses. Our party also booked a booth, or so we thought. We booked using their online service and requested a booth as, although the food is generally at a high standard, the lack of soft furnishings means being deafened and struggling to talk around a square table. On arrival we were told we could not reserve booths and they were for parties of 6+ (we were a party of 5) with a 'hard luck, not our problem' attitude. We were not informed of this before hand and if we were we could of considered alternative arrangements. The food was to a good standard as always, but not good enough to ignore the above problems considering the cost of a meal I would expect better. With so many other nice restaurants in the area, we will be venturing elsewhere in the future. read more

We visited this restaurant as part of a large group, and the service we had was really good considering how many of us there were. The food was alright but I'm not sure I'd go back on the strength of that, there are nicer place to eat in alderley Edge but the building was very impressive so I might go again anyway. read more

Great place. Family freindly and fun to see which celeb's are dining with you. Good steaks and good pizza too. Great service. A bit pricey but it is alderley after all! read more
