Possibly the best looking restaurant in Manchester right now, Iberica is seriously opulent inside. It's a welcome new addition to Spinningfields opposite the Oast House, with an outdoor seating area that has a retractable roof should you wish to sit outside in the summer months. Inside the decor is really elegant with high ceilings, chandeliers and matador-themed lamps, as well as cured hams on display. You can sit at the bar if you're having a glass of wine with some olives, or sit down at a table if you want to have a more formal meal. I took a friend of mine for lunch and she was super impressed with the place, as was I. The service was excellent- our waitress was very chatty and attentive. To start we ordered a jug of the Sangria Cava which is a bit of a refreshing, summery twist on the traditional sangria, using cava instead of white or red wine. It was delicious and turned our lunch into a boozy one! We had the set lunch menu, which was a good deal at £15 for 3 tapas, but in hindsight I think I would rather have just ordered individual plates because the dishes on the set menu were a bit random. The chorizo lollipop was really tasty, but the confit of cod was like a fish mousse and I'm not a fan of fish mousses. The chickpea purée was OK but essentially a bowl of hummus with some chorizo and a rather peculiar taste. For the last tapas I ordered the creamy black rice, which was very creamy and very heavy so I couldn't eat too much of it. Also stains your mouth black so make sure you down some water afterwards! I've had quite a few squid ink risottos before, which I love, but this was more like a creamy porridge consistency and didn't have enough seafood for my liking so the jury's out on that one. My friend had the chicken with chilindron sauce, which was good. All our dishes arrived, except one middle course...the Miljohas...which they seemed to have forgotten about. By this time our original server's shift had ended so could forgive the slip. Not too much of a big deal, it came as soon as we'd asked about it. The Miljohas were like huge nacho type things with aubergine and red peppers. You can tell a lot about a venue by the bathrooms and my friend came back saying 'you HAVE to check out the toilets!' All in all a gorgeous restaurant and I can imagine I'll be back here in the summer months for a jug of sangria and some tapas off the menu.

It is not very often that I give a 5* review based on one visit.....but then I don't often visit Iberica. WOWEEEE is all I can say. My favourite country in the world is Spain. And my favourite food is Spanish food. Having said that, my mother lives in a small Spanish village near Alicante and when I visit I eat the most amazing food you could possibly eat. Also the pintxos I have had in the basque region really makes me excited just thinking about it. Blows the socks off French and Italian. Because of this, I very rarely eat at Spanish restaurants in the UK (or anywhere else that isn't Spain for that matter). So, although I was excited to get a table at the soft launch, I was also a bit sceptical and went with the expectation that it would be a disappointment in comparison to the food I eat in Spain. Oh boy, how wrong my assumption was. The wine selection is awesome. Took me a while to choose but went for the Crianza. Was so drinkable. For food, we had tapas. Our selection was the gazpacho, patatas bravas, squid, ensalladia ruso (second best I have ever had, only to my mum 's local), chorizo lollipop and the butifarra. All were awesome. The chorizo lollipops come with a pear alioli that tastes spectacular. We were so full by the end of it. The loos are FAB. Unisex, sort of. There is one loo but different stalls for gentleman and ladies. There are wash basins inside the stalls as well as a tap in the communal area. Now the icing on the cake which sealed my 5* review was the digestiv selection. My friend had a coffee one which she loved. Now. I had the Forest Herbs and this made my day. A good few years ago (7 now I think of it) I was at a bar local to my mum's and the bar owner came out with a bottle of booze after our meal and two glasses. It would have been rude not to drink it so when he offered me glass after glass I joined in - this is a compliment in Spain as the owner was sharing his favourite drink with me. To thud day, every time I come back from a visit to mum I get a bottle of this: it is called "liquor de hierbas". Until a few hours ago I had never seen this in the UK. But I had some in Iberica and it makes me so happy. Ok they calked it a different name but it tastes the same. I told the staff how pleased I was to see this on the menu. The service was great from moment of arrival to when we left. I definitely think everyone should visit Iberica. It is the best Spanish food I have eaten outside of Spain and will definitely be back.

Attending a soft launch sitting at Iberica recently, I was super excited, especially after hearing so much buzz about it online. Having previously been an All Saints store, it's a huge space split over two levels; downstairs looks to be more of a bar area (presumably recognising the need to welcome in the Spinningfields crowd for Friday night drinks) with a more 'restaurant' feel to the upstairs area. After a quick scan of the drinks menu, I couldn't resist a glass of sangria, especially after seeing the large jar of it Michael was making his way through! Unlike the sickly sweet sangria you can often find on offer in places such as M&S, this was made with care and attention, the process of which is actually quite mesmerizing. Upstairs, we were handed menus and started to try and decide what to have - this is not the time to be indecisive! They have a well priced lunch menu, but the main page of tapas was too good to resist. Like seafood? They've got it. Vegetables more your thing? Go ahead! Meat lover? Got you covered. If you've got a fussy eater in your circle of friends or family, this could be the answer to your prayers. The food comes - and it keeps coming! - so get ready to tuck in. Tomato topped bread was refreshing between heavier dishes, chorizo lollipops a little gimmicky fun, and silky smooth croquettes worth writing home about. The twice cooked lamb was a real standout, as were the Iberica burgers, which were seriously good considering they initially seemed a touch out of place on the menu. I'm looking forward to heading back when they've got into the swing of things to see if the magic can continue; service was knowledgeable and super friendly, especially the downstairs staff who stopped to chat while I was waiting for my coat from the cloakroom. The first of many new openings in this area of Manchester in 2015, and they've really upped the competition.

Wow. Wow, wow! Spanish food done good in the good ol UK - first off I have to say that I was invited to the soft opening and received some dishes for free but also paid for quite a few as well as drinks so this is a fair review to make based on our real experience! Basically anything with squid rocks, especially the black rice -the burger was fantastic, the potatoes, octopus superb - in fact I'm struggling to think of a dish we ordered that I didn't enjoy! A lovely bar downstairs to enjoy a drink in luxury with friends and an intimate dining experience upstairs - lovely! There's a pretty big terrace for summer which I'm sure is going to be really popular and it's great to see this part of town becoming a genuine foodie destination - long may it continue!

I loved this place the moment I walked in it was my first time here and my mother in law treated me to a cocktail. The decor is just beautiful I love all the colours the furniture the lay out everything. I love the Spanish feel to the place. We only have cocktail as we're on are way somewere, but it was probably the best cocktail I have ever had, it had fresh strawberries and raspberries with cava could of drank it all day so refreshing and tasty. I would definitely like to return and try the paella and the sangria it's somewere nice for the afternoon or evening anytime really. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough gor you, I really loved it definitely reccomend.

I love this swanky tapas restaurant. It's a bit pricey but if you want to try 'fine-dining' tapas when you're a bit bored of the tomato sauce-heavy and rustic style tapas we usually get, come here! The tapas dishes are delicately presented but packed with flavour. I do think the chorizo lolly pops are too much though! The waiters all speak Spanish and deliver very smart service. The restaurant itself is decorated to a high standard without it looking like a souvenir shop. Check out the toilets! Love the bar and the gin cocktails on offer and Spanish beers on tap.

Paella Mixta (Chicken & Seafood)

I have heard of Iberica but haven't yet visited the place. I feel like I haven't explored Spinningfields enough as I was mostly focussing on Northern Quarter. When an old University friend dropped by Manchester, I decided this called for something more special and so we headed towards Spinningfields to find a good restaurant to eat at. We discovered Iberica and perused the menu before heading inside. I did not realise that there are two floors to this place, the bar downstairs and the restaurant upstairs. We were warmly greeted at the reception desk who took our coats and then proceeded to take us upstairs to our table. The interior consists of dark wood, leather-like seats and a lot of red paint with subtle round details (lampshades, ceramic pots). I felt like I was transported to another country. I really like the lighting here, it sets the mood for a comfortable evening. Since we were in a Spanish restaurant, we decided that we'd order Sangria. I chose the red version as it is a classic. Our waitress suggested we try the Sangria Cava next time as it's her favourite. We ordered a pitcher and this came along with two mugs, each with two straws and a spoon. The Sangria was excellent and there is plenty to go around for the evening. We ordered a variety of items off the menu. Fried Chorizo Lollipops This was served with pear alioli sauce and was so, so good. The spicy chorizo paired perfectly with the sweet and creamy dipping sauce. It was a match made in heaven and one to go for if you like chorizo. Patatas Bravas Served with spicy brava sauce, this was a lovely dish. A good basic to any tapas selection, although in hindsight we would have skipped this one had we known that the octopus dish (below) came with potatoes. This was mentioned in the menu, so this was not the restaurant's fault. Ibérica octopus a la gallega One of the best tasting octopus dishes I have ever tasted. The octopus was not chewy in the slightest and very meaty. If you have been put off by chewy seafood in the past, then I urge you to try this dish. Seriously, the octopus had a good bite to it. Warm endive salad, Valdeón cheese & caramel coated hazelnuts This plate had mixed opinions, but the secret to eating this dish is to eat all the elements at the same time. The hazelnuts really bring the dish together, without which this was just a subpar plate. As it was so light, we felt that this dish would have benefitted from being served earlier in the meal, as more of an appetiser than a main. Paella Mixta (Chicken & Seafood) This dish was both a blessing and a curse, and in a good way. Not realising that this would be massive, we ordered it and had so much left over. The paella is really good, though, one of the best I've had. The langoustines were cooked perfectly and the rice had a nice bite. The restaurant offered to let us take the rest home with us, bonus! It did take a while to get a hold of someone to place our main order, and I wished they had mentioned that the paella was really, really large. All in all though, I cannot fault this place much. The prices are fairly expensive, but you are paying for quality food to match. I would come back here for a special night out, or just for really good seafood to be honest. I've heard good thinks about the bar and deli menu too.

I have heard a lot of positive hype about this place, and as a lover of sharing tapas plates, I was quite excited to try this place. Firstly, I have to give the interior and decor a huge thumbs up - it really is beautiful inside and has an 'outdoor' part surrounded by glass which would be nice on warmer evenings. The staff were attentive and welcoming, and we were seated over at a nice table and were talked through the menu's and all dining options. My first negative experience was when my pregnant friend ordered a 'mocktail', which cost a very expensive £8. Mocktails are usually a lower cost that alcoholic cocktails, so I did wince a little at this ... but anyway... the menu's looked incredible so it was soon forgotten about. Between three of us, we ordered x3 plates each plus an order of tomato bruschetta style bread, and hats off to Iberica because this was more than enough and satisfied us all, sharing a little bit of each other's. The plates came out around 5 minutes apart from each other, which I actually liked, as it was like a little surprise as to what was coming next, keeping the food options coming. I cannot fault any of the food too much - the serrano ham croquettes were really delicious and easily my favourite plate, followed by a prawn and ham selection and potatas bravas. However, the friend spring onions and fried chorizo lollipops were a little too greasy. Another nice option was the asparagus toasted on truffle oil toast plate - I would recommend this one as a nice, filling option. Something very strange happened when I dined here - I have absolutely no food allergies but something I ate didn't agree with me and I actually had the tingling numb sensation in my mouth after eating here, which I looked up to be a reaction to a food allergy. It only lasted 3 hours so much have been a small disagreement to something I had ate, but for someone of 29 years old who has never had a food allergy, I did find this worrying. I did inform the staff and they were helpful and concerned, so I can't fault the way they dealt with this. Very pricey for a tapas - therefore rating this at 3 stars.

Went here with my girlfriend for a birthday meal and we had no idea how nice the food was going to be, the waiter called Camilo(I think) who took our order read through the menu to us and even recommended some dishes and how many dishes to be full up. We ordered tomato on toasted bread which is the nicest start to a meal I have ever had, cured meat selection that is perfect for nibbling. Patatas bravas is the nicest dish I have ever eaten at a tapas restaurant! Definitely recommend that. Over all service was amazing, price is average I'd say for the location, perfect for date night and good for a few drinks. Been here twice now and would definitely be going again

Visited twice now and both times first time as a large group. Can't fault the interior but have found food to be only okay!. Given the inflated prices I would expect the 'wow'factor and have been dissapointed on both occasions. On our 2nd visit We ordered 6 tapas between 2 : A selection of Serano hams , Ham & cheese coquettes, black rice with prawns and squid (best dish) peppers , breads, a fish pate and a bottle of rose wine. The bill was £90! Pricey! Worth a visit for the bar and interior though and the staff are nice and friendly.

Rich R.

Wow..... this is everything you'd expect and then some. Food- service, and did I mention food. The entire menu is meat and cheese (well almost). The Charcuterie bar (yep, there is one) has the cured meat with the hoof still on. I wish I lived in this restaurant! Or had unlimited access for sure.

The food is marvelous and delicious especially the jamon iberico and the cheese assortment. We tried all different kinds of tapas and all so good. Recommended if you want eat real good spanish foods.

A Spanish restaurant I would like to come regular. I like the cheese cake here and the ham plater, the Simon cheese is such nice.

Oh salut! First time…read moreI walked past this a few weeks ago and saw the enomatic through the window I let out a an actual GASP of excitement. Was pretty excited on the night too, so excited I left my card in the wine machine which made me look like a total amateur. It's much more spacious inside than I had realised, and there are also seats and heaters outside with a great view of the nearby row of traditional pubs with the town hall in the background. I enjoyed trying the various wines (the smallest amount is often £2-3 so you can try a good four wines on a £10 card pre-payment) and could even tell that some of them tasted different, so am basically going to be earning my MW in no time. They also do a few little snacks - my fave baba ghanoush and some rather tasty crisps, although the brown olives tasted too sour for me. Tap water came chilled in a delightful glass bottle. Btw I am not sure there are actually other drinks options here, maybe check that before you go. The staff were efficient and welcoming and I am sure I will be back here. A great companion to hanging ditch and Bakerie in terms of our city's wine bar scene.

Although I now work for an independent wine merchant in Didsbury and am considered a bit of a fussy geek by my friends, I have longed for a good wine bar in Manchester pretty much since I arrived in town over 6 years ago, well before wine was a big thing for me. A few places have attempted it, half-heartedly for some, but none had so far succeeded. Then came Salut wines, first baby business of a lovely couple who like me love good wine and thought it deserved proper representation in the City Centre. An ambitious project that was, not without hurdles. But tenacity paid off and behold, a superb, clean, warm and welcoming wine bar where odd ins once was. Enomatic machines a-go-go, 32 wines are available by the glass at any point in (opening) time. That's 16 whites and rosés and 16 reds. Thanks to these machines you can enjoy a vast variety of wines, all of which are way above your house plonk from most pubs/bars/restaurant. And that's not all. 3 measures are available: 50ml, 125ml and 175 ml. The first one is my favourite. I can play to my heart's content and try a lot of wine before it's time to call it a day. Most wines are between £1.20 and £5 for a glass but you can also try some of the fancier stuff that would NEVER be available by the glass otherwise. Risk-free. Whilst they do not cater, a range of nibbles and tapas plates are available and it's perfectly suitable for a light lunch or diner. Cheese, cured meats and Mediterranean veggie plates, all made with very good ingredients. Music is top notch, not your average lounge "elevator" type nor your bass-boosted frenzy. Blues, jazz, pop, electro... To sum-up, great atmosphere, best wine selection in town, excellent service. The bottle prices to take away are on the steep side of I'm honest but I'll put that down as the location.

After a quick introduction to the charming prince, we were taken through a tale of the dizzying history of his family and their ties to the production of Kaltenberg, which is now brewed under licence and distributed by the award-winning Lancashire brewer, Thwaites. As Prince Luitpold explained, the company much prefers to set up local production of their fine ales to ensure the quality and freshness of the brews. Operations are expanding to Ukraine and Asia next year. We progressed through a wide variety of brews, each one getting a little bit darker and a little bit stronger. Before each tasting, the Prince imparted his considerable knowledge of the brewing process and flavour profile of the lagers and beers, including their impressive ABV%. The place is in a cool wine cellar which gives in a unique feel and it has a lizard attached to the bar (great idea). Two friends and I opted for a lovely Rioja and if we hadn't been going out for a meal afterwards, would have been very tempted to get a platter of cheeses. They have a counter of them with the French cheeses being delivered directly and the English cheeses from local producers. A charming and unpretentious spot to escape the busyness of Deansgate. Long may they prosper.

After hearing my Spanish teacher naming Tapeo as the most authentic Spanish restaurant in…read moreManchester, I couldn't not to check it out! It is not cheap, but the food has beaten all my expectations. Tapas are full of flavour, authentic and well-presented. Portions are of a decent size, so good for sharing. The service is exceptional: waiters are very friendly while food came quickly.

Six of us came here to eat all the tapas as we love sharing masses of dishes from a menu…read more The restaurant (which took over the unit ModelZone used to have on Deansgate) certainly has a handsome interior; a nice balance between simple and sophisticated décor, with some gorgeous mosaic tiles adorning the bar and walls. To me, it had the look and feel of a contemporary eatery in Spain. We were seated close to the specials board, so decided to order a couple of those dishes as well as what seemed like the majority of the standard menu (they recommend three per person and that proved to be spot on for us). Whereas pretty much all of the 18 small plates we ordered were absolutely delicious (we duplicated a couple of options) - the octopus salad, padron peppers, aubergine crisps, pork cheeks and ham croquettes were my highlights - some weren't that spectacular. The beef meatballs, Spanish omelette and lobster & prawn croquettes were a tad underwhelming unfortunately. The bottle of red we shared (Torre Solar at £18) was very nice indeed. You can order many of their varied wine selection by the glass. They'd be a solid five stars but for a small number of things - a lack of balsamic vinegar served with the bread, mainly disappointing desserts (I enjoyed my upside down cheesecake made with actual cheese, but others thought it was dreadful). Also the churros weren't doughy-delicious but brittle. Service was warm and friendly throughout but on a couple of occasions the server could have been a bit more sharp-eyed, especially when we were sat clearly waiting to pay. So, feast on the small plates and bypass the desserts here.

We had SUCH fond memories of this place from a few years ago when we gave it a stellar 5 star…read morereview. This time it simply disappointed in almost every way. The service was OK, the food offerings just not enticing at all (we ended up with Caesar salads as the main, and stopped to buy some food at a Sainsbury's local and take it back to our hotel room. The cost of cocktails and mocktails was absurd. Mrs G got a mocktail that was totally tasteless for £9.50. I had a margarita that tasted good but the glass was 80% filled with the biggest block of ice that I have ever seen - for £14.50!!!! Advice - stick with beer or wine and don't even consider cocktails!!! The place is still attractive but the fact that it was virtually empty on a Friday evening at 7-8pm is maybe explained by all the foregoing??

Such a beautiful place. Inside is decorative, service was awesome as well…read more We came here for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The drinks, service and food were delish. We tried several different dishes like the Buttermilk-fried chicken, sourdough bread, mash potatoes, french fries, baked broccoli and Slow-cooked beef cheek. My favorite was the buttermilk fried chicken. Definitely can't go wrong with that. All of it was delish. So much flavor and good size to share with 3 people. We also got Sticky toffee pudding for dessert. So yummy! Definitely give it a shot.
