The location and atmosphere are great. Waiters were attentive, the food arrived quickly. However, I have to say that food lacked this Spanish authenticity. It was as if cooked by somebody who only heard about Spanish food but never tried it. These were not just my dishes - I have tried my friends's as well. We went for a promotion - three tapas and a drink for £9.99. For this price I can't complain, however, full price is just not worth it.

I have been in here quite a few time and I really like it, the place is really nice it's a bit traditional and really cosy some of the tables are barrels which is nice. It's lovely in the evening in the candle light. I have only been once to eat but the food was great Really fresh and tasty and quite reasonable priced. I have been in a few time for drinks too they have great sangria and it's only £15 for a jug great value and it's nice just to sit at the bar. The place has a really nice feel the staff are really friendly and don't rush you so it's so relaxed Highly reccomend on of my favourite tapas bars.

Hey. Let's be serious for a moment. You have a choice of several Spanish restaurants in Manchester, and La Tasca ain't one of them. So if I find you trundling into that microwaveable tapas monstrosity on Deansgate, especially as El Rincon and La Viña are within walking distance of it, I'll hunt you down. I don't know what I'll do once I've hunted you down, probably just give you a severe telling off. La Viña is one of those unusual restaurants that you don't expect to find on such a busy street - it's got a very Lion, Witch and Wardrobe feel about it as stepping into it is like entering another world. It's also got something of the tardis about it too, as it's deceptively huge for a Deansgate building. Candlelight offers a soft and seductive glow, with vines plunging down from balconies and the feeling that you're in the Med as opposed to just minutes away from the city centre. There's a real buzz about this restaurant, every time I've been in the low but lively chatter and the Latin beats on the stereo make it feel very authentic and quintessentially Spanish. As for the food, the tapas is traditional - you know what you're getting and expect to see the likes of chorizo with beans, Spanish potato omelette and the like. There are plenty of veggie options too which should please all parties, and flavour isn't compromised for the lack of meat. But wait. What's this? What - is - this? La Viña is... drumroll please... PART OF the La Tasca group. Hold on, don't start throwing things at me, it's a truly different beast. It's a far more upmarket version of the dull, flavourless chain restaurant, and its slightly pricier menu reflects this, but don't worry. La Viña is still a truly superior option, the food and atmosphere are worth the trip, and with huge group bookings available and its family-friendly nature, you'd be hard pushed to find anything better. Apart from El Rincon. But we all know THAT can't be beaten.

With a cosy atmosphere and a warm vibe la vina seems on to something. Vibrant/rustic decor and music set an enjoyable tone and the staff work hard to make sure you have a good experience. Spanish food adorns the menus, tapas can be an expensive affair but anything else is often reasonable and it is all very very good. Monkfish wrapped in Serrano ham is a favourite of mine, but trust me anything you order will please you to no end unless your missing a tongue, even then I'm sure you'd enjoy the aesthetics. Vegetarians and meat eaters alike are spoiled for choice with hearty bean casseroles plumped up with chorizo and salted hams to oyster mushrooms in wine and garlic marinade. Sorry just dribbled onto my laptop. Expect to split with about £20 quid, that's a lot for a student like me so it must be good.

    Tapas!

I really enjoyed my Saturday night meal out to La Vina. Good atmosphere, and not too long a wait on a table even though it was packed out. I was served up a good white rioja at the bar and it was lovely. The food was fantastic, I was particularly a fan of the croquettes (worth trying the meat and the veggie options), and the salad verte was really good too. I really liked the jamon iberica, my colleagues weren't massively keen on the thick cut style of it. The staff were a little frantic and obviously very busy but they were polite and friendly and made good suggestions. Tip - if you want a table here, try getting there early or late. I think the rush is between around 7-9 on weekend nights.

    Very crowded place.

I visited La Vina for the second time yesterday and started to feel a little bit disappointed. Always crowded as ever (I know this because I kinda got refused once as too many people eating there and the waitress told me I have to wait for 50 min to get a seat). Lucky me yesterday I got a table but you can never get a bigger table if you just bring one guest. And trust me, if you order paella for two, the table (for two people obviously) would definitely not be big enough to serve other two more side dishes. So, enough complaining about the able size and the crowd. Let's talk food. In a word the food was not at all it was cracked up to be. The paella was fine. But others were just ordinary. Compared to the taste and price the portion was too small too. But the sangria there was truly (and maybe the only?) a delight. I guess I'm not gonna pay my third visit.

I have been here a couple of times now but went again yesterday after spending a couple of hours at the Rioja festival in Albert Sq which got us in the mood for more tapas and Rioja. I love the manchejo cheese here and the monkfish wrapped in serrano ham is fantastic. The staff work very hard and the waitress we had serve us said a 12 hour shift is normal so I really admire how polite and welcoming she was considering how exhausting this must be but that's the catering trade! It was very busy but we still managed to get a seat and be served quite quickly so all in all a great experience again.

The flavors were incredible. For shared plates, we ordered 3 off the special Galician menu. The white asparagus was wonderful, a little of the sea asparagus on top gave just enough salt for the creamy sauce and crumb crunch. The octopus was also incredible. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, with tender pieces of octopus on top, all swimming in butter and topped with paprika. Finally, the scallops were served in the shell, with a crunch, spicy, peppery topping. The service was awesome, with a special shout out to Claudia, she could not have treated us better. Thanks for the digestif! A definite recommendation.

It was early to be fair - 630pm on a Thursday. But when we left about 815pm it was busy - always good to see a restaurant busy - better atmosphere and of course means they are doing well. I had looked at the menu before visiting - of course - and had in mind what I wanted already. But the specials potentially could have changed things - but didn't. Canto have a 3 dishes for £15 deal which is for most of the things on the menu. The only things not really in the deal is the seafood dishes - although king prawns are. I went for the king prawns (with garlic and chilli) - delicious. Had lots of garlic, not too much chilli. (Having king prawns when I was in Vietnam has sort of ruined king prawns because they will never be as good as what I had in Vietnam!). They were will very good though. I also had the pork skewers which were OK and shared the Jamon croquettes and Catalan bread with someone. So had 2 x croquettes and couple pieces of the bread. Catalan bread was really good.

To me, it had the look and feel of a contemporary eatery in Spain. We were seated close to the specials board, so decided to order a couple of those dishes as well as what seemed like the majority of the standard menu (they recommend three per person and that proved to be spot on for us). Whereas pretty much all of the 18 small plates we ordered were absolutely delicious (we duplicated a couple of options) - the octopus salad, padron peppers, aubergine crisps, pork cheeks and ham croquettes were my highlights - some weren't that spectacular. The beef meatballs, Spanish omelette and lobster & prawn croquettes were a tad underwhelming unfortunately. The bottle of red we shared (Torre Solar at £18) was very nice indeed. You can order many of their varied wine selection by the glass. They'd be a solid five stars but for a small number of things - a lack of balsamic vinegar served with the bread, mainly disappointing desserts (I enjoyed my upside down cheesecake made with actual cheese, but others thought it was dreadful). Also the churros weren't doughy-delicious but brittle. Service was warm and friendly throughout but on a couple of occasions the server could have been a bit more sharp-eyed, especially when we were sat clearly waiting to pay. So, feast on the small plates and bypass the desserts here.

I had high expectations which were not met. I really struggle to understand the hype about this place, especially considering how sick I became after eating here. I ordered the Acaymo Meal Box which is a chicken dish with a Spanish sauce and patatas bravas, firstly the presentation was a mess. It was all put together in a Spanish container, you could literally pick up the food and rinse it out with all the grease. The potatoes were soggy, the chicken was plasticy. I wouldn't even call the side dish "potatas bravas", both the sauces were very rich and sweet, and on the side, just the thought of them appears to knock me sick. The price of the food was good at first glance in £9.95, but considering I was given a giant mess and how ill I felt after, I wouldn't even dine here again if they were the ones paying me. I believe it is a disgrace that this place has a four-star food hygiene rating, they were found to be "Good" in two of three areas meanwhile "Management of food safety" was ranked Generally Satisfactory in their 2019 inspection. Not long after eating here, I began to feel very unwell with symptoms which went beyond my coeliac disease (why I have to eat gluten-free), I was told my food was gluten-free. I was violently sick not long after visiting, much worse than I have been in a long time. I was obviously poisoned by the business, even after just a few bites of food. I was also concerned to see young children in the business and I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the hygiene as they were obviously in and out of the kitchen and public areas, dealing with the children and going back. It gives me great pain to say this but La Bandera is one of the worst restaurants in Manchester and the fact I was violently sick and felt worse than I have in such a long time was the final nail in the coffin. This place deserves health inspectors pronto, as much as it pains me to do this especially during the struggle restaurants are going through during the pandemic, this warrants a place on my "Avoid at all costs" list and really is a disgrace.
