The falafels that I ordered looked like cheesebites and the flavour was a bit bland but the tzatziki sauce brough the dish back with some flavour as it was well seasoned (£5.90). I really enjoyed the Saganaki and the way it has been coated in golden crispy goodness against the texture of the cheese that was similar to halloumi ( £7.50). However the best dish for me was Pastichio ( £9.50), greek macaroni with bechemel sauce and a hint of cinnamon. It is layered together similar to a lasagne. The rich sweet tomato sauce really took me back to my greek holiday in Symi. This place is average in terms of value for money but the service is outstanding. Plus the food brings a bit of mediterranean sun into the Village. Didn't get to try Lamb Souvlaki (£12.50) and Lamb Giannotioko (£12.75) as hubby and friend were way too hungry to share food! The menu mainly consists of kebabs with a couple other main non-kebab dishes and then several things which are more starters/sharing type dishes. While we were deciding on what to order for main course, we got some hummus to share. Really nice! The kebabs all sounded good and it was a tough decision which one to go for. Was tempted by the monkfish one but that was sold out. Ended up sharing a kebab - we each got a kebab and cut in half. So shared the beef cheek one and the hanger steak one.  We also got some fries "for the table". So got Greek Fries and Paprika Fries. Greek Fries are fries with tzatziki, feta, olives and chilli sauce. Paprika Fries are simpler - just fries with paprika seasoning. The kebab tasted delicious. Amongst the group, I think some had the pork souviaki one and someone had the lamb adana one and everyone enjoyed the food. Even better than the kebab was 30% off. We were a little late to arrive so the entertainment (live singing) started while we were still eating - this made it impossible to chat so they might want to consider better volume control depending on what stage people are at with their night. However the entertainment was in general great - not the best belly dancer I've ever seen but very enthusiastic. The waiters also danced which was hilarious (note: some of them quite fit) and then they got everyone in the restaurant holding hands kicking randomly not-so-Turkish-style. I think this was the juncture at which my friend who knows I yelp turned to me and held up five fingers. Finally there was some DJing and we were dancing until at least 1am (and I'm sure if we'd wanted to stay out longer than would have been welcomed). I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it had a great combination of fresh flavour from the mozzarella, salame and olives with the prefect level of spice. One of the things I loved about Insolito is the Italian authenticity - it is managed and staff by Italians and is really pleasant to see, and the staff are extremely friendly and provide great service. The pizzeria is situated perfectly on Mosley Street opposite the Manchester Art Gallery and near the recently re-developed St. Peter's Square. Inside, it's eloquently decorated with large floor to ceiling windows, which opens up the pizzeria.

The organisation, by Manchester CAMRA branch, is superb. This year, for the first time, we went on Friday night - the busiest slot. When we arrived, just after 7pm, the queue was along two sides of the building, about 300m. We actually got into the foyer inside 35 minutes, which I thought was quite something! Once inside, there are plenty of signs and directions, the toilets are reasonable, considering the numbers using them and the stewards all work very well. The beers are really something - no-one could want a greater choice! The loss of a point isn't really down to the Building or the organisers, but merely the access. We left at 9.30pm in order to get back to Warrington (normally a 45 minute journey) in time to help close up our pub. The metrolonk was excellent but, on arriving at Picadilly, we found that there are no trains to Liverpool after 10 at night! Not a good way to encourage visitors. We won't be going for any nights out in Manchester in future, no matter who is on at the venues, as it can cost around £65 to get home by taxi!
