The bar is very nicely laid out, a large open space with a floating second floor which looks down on the bottom storey. High moulded ceilings and massive display shelving behind the bar showing off their very large selection of wine. I'm a beer drinker so the thought of a wine bar didn't get my palate stirring particularly but what did and is a fantastic aspect of Wine and Wallop is the 13 hand pumps on the bar. There is in fact almost as many beers available on a daily basis as there is wines by the glass available. I did in fact try the wines that others ordered and as there were a few even I would happily drink. I am told they were a very good selection by my wine quaffing friends. It is important to add that there is only a selection of the wines available by glass and these are displayed on a chalkboard above the door. All other wines are by bottle only. I believe they change this list regularly, although I didn't enquire how often this occurs. The beers on tap the night I went in were a selection from Timothy Taylor's (a Didsbury staple) Brightside Brewery and Ilkley. They didn't have all 13 taps on (I think there were 2 absent). The bar doesn't do meals but does have a selection of light snacks, mostly in the range of cheeses, meats, biscuits and breads. All of these are decent quality and the portions are reasonable. I would say the demographic of the bar is on the older side, being in my mid 30's I was definitely in the younger age range there on a Friday night. But that said the bar has a great vibe with no tv, and jazz music playing in the background at a low volume so it's definitely a spot for conversation or quiet contemplation rather than a party venue.

Bottle (a bottle shop come bar) in Heaton Moor is a nice addition and has already made me visit…read morethe area more than before. I'm not really a pub type of person and don't really enjoy drinking a pint for the sake of it, so its nice to know that i can now jump on my bike and pootle along to Bottle on a sunday lunch for a decent bottle of cider. I say decent as Bottle serve 'thistly cross'. Not only that though they serve my favourites the whisky cask and ginger versions. AND..(.yes this is a big AND), they also have snyders jalapeno pretzels....which quite frankly are the only reason i ever eat pretzels. The place itself is small, but through a good seating plan can easily accommodate up to 30 people and still feel uncrowded. The shop is positioned towards the back and by the looks of it (see picture) has lots to choose from. whilst i don't drink beer myself (only cider), i know it must be a good choice as my husband spends ages deciding and has that look of glee in his eye. Its a really nice little place, with great beer, good seating and really friendly staff. I will be returning....often.

I tried the porter on tap (I know! I drank beer!) and really liked its chocolate BBQ flavour. Bf got super excited about a 10% Thornbridge Jaipur and said it was one of the best things he drank in ages. He also bought a Thornbridge rhubarb to bring home which he also liked (although said he wouldn't need to drink more than one of those!). The prices are pretty high so it's more a treat place (if you want a bargain quality bottle option, head to Bargain Booze in Davenport). I imagine it might get hard to find a seat on weekends (which is great, because it means it's doing well) but midweek had the perfect balance of available seats but most tables taken which gave it a very pleasant buzz.

Rather than cross into the forbidden territory, that is the overpriced ofc that is the nandos chain, we decided to go local. The staff were friendly and charming, and there were odd paintings of women's backsides for sale on the wall. We forgave the dead roses on the table, and asked for a menu. The card itself wasn't excellent, but there was a decent range of food choices. I plumped for the steak sandwich, medium rare, because I'm not a heathen, and my friend, the halloumi mushroom wrap. Our food arrived fairly quickly, and after my argument with the particularly ungenerous salt shaker, we tucked in. Chips were great, but everything else had real potential but wasn't polished. The charred but somehow soggy mushroom in my friends dinner put her off somewhat. Saying all of this, the car was well stocked, and I expect it is a very good place to drink, the cakes also looked quite appetising, but we didn't fancy sampling. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day, it's cheap and cheerful pub grub after all, it was just a little lacklustre on a fair few of the points. Sorry to leave a low review guys, but it just wasn't hitting the points.

The signage is clear with bold red and black lettering. The venue is on the main drag of shops in Heaton Mersey near to Pizza and Wine so around 20 minutes walk from the East Didsbury metrolink stop. The interior is plain and more daytime 'cafe' than restaurant although the striking coffee machine, bright red and shiny in colour, imported direct from Italy is impressive! The staff are friendly and the chef enthusiastic meaning you will find some inventive specials on the board. This Café Bar isn't called Buffalo for nothing and they specialize in buffalo burgers which you an also order 'in the buff' served without the bun and extra salad. With the higher protein and lower fat content than regular burgers this is a great option when dining with a guest who is trying to watch their waistline. On the launch I sampled chicken stuffed with mozzarella with a butternut squash puree which was delicious. The chicken was wonderfully juicy whilst the sweet squash complimented it well. The feta and beetroot burger is a genius idea especially considering I hate mushrooms and most vegetarian options are stuffed with them. This is filling and a lovely change for your vegetarian friends. When dining after the wine tasting I opted for a Lord of the Pies chicken pie with chunky chips and mushy peas. The pie was lovely, made locally in Stockport with the chips crispy yet sweet and fluffy. My date had the buffalo burger with stilton and tells me it was divine. I would have liked a go at it but I couldn't get close. The owners are keen to keep things here local hence the use of Lord of the Pies as well as a coffee roaster also based in the Cheshire area. They are eager to please and have a good team around them to do just that.
