    Table for Nikki!
    Nikki C.

This is hands down my favourite cocktail bar in Manchester. I've been here more times than I'd like to admit, sometimes until the sun has come up. But the best thing about this bar is the staff, they feel like friends and genuinely seem interested in you and ensuring that your night is awesome. They have the best drinks around too which is also handy! Prices are a bit steep, but you can't put a price on fun.

Having been to the establishment in Chorlton many times, I was pleasantly surprised when a friend…read moresuggested we go to the Laundrette in town. Recently opened, the new restaurant is one of the few on First Street so it is quite easy to find. Obviously we took advantage of the January offer and judging by how busy it was on a Tuesday night, so did a lot of other people! Walking it the vibes were really good with great lounge music playing and people chatting away. The menu and drinks offerings seemed to be the same and prices very reasonable. We all knew what we wanted to have anyway- our favourite burger or pizzas! We started with a sharing platter which would probably suit 2 people more than 4, but everything on the board was cooked perfectly. We especially liked the spicy mayonaise as it had a good kick to it. I really liked the burger- big thick and juicy with accompaniments to match and we ordered 1more mac and cheese to share halfway through our meal cos we couldn't get enough of it! The staff were really friendly and bubbly which made the night an even better experience. We sat on the outside tables, so you might want to watch out for the heaters, as they are really hot! I must say, I was very impressed with this restaurant, and dare I say it, as good as the original!

The atmosphere was great fantastic tunes playing in the background which really got us excited for the night ahead of us. We got three drinks one of which was a shared which was served in a massive popcorn container! It was delicious and worth the money. If coming here definitely try one of the cocktails they are gimmicky and very fun to drink! A great place for a catch up session with the girls and for prepping a night out on the town. I will be back!

I visited The Botanist, earlier this year, and have noticed a huge decline in their huge standards,…read morein terms of taste and safety. I've always noticed the standards at The Botanist on Deansgate in terms of food quality and service to be much lesser than their other locations, but it seems to have continued its period of decline. On a recent visit, I ordered the Hanging Kebab with Chicken and Chorizo, and I ended up having to send the food back, this is because the food arrived lukewarm, and after cutting into the chicken, I realised it was pink. I originally thought it could have been from the chorizo on the kebab, but I just felt rather uneasy, after cutting into it further, and it was obviously raw. After bringing this to the attention of the team, they dealt with it promptly, and sent a manager over and promised to have a new meal on the go, ready in a couple of minutes, I thought that was the end of it, but sadly the chicken came out pink a second time again, while the food was hot, it seems they have the inability to cook the hanging kebabs all the way through. The chorizo was also rock solid on the second portion, and cooked poorly. I was disappointed that neither the manager nor the service team returned to my table to check everything was okay with the dish, knowing I had experienced issues previously. The prices seem also slightly high for glorified bar food, especially after the discontinuation of their loyalty scheme. 2* - The cocktails and alcoholic drinks section are cool, I wouldn't visit for anything other than drinks in the future.

Having come straight from the Manchester United game, I was forced to keep my jacket on during our meal which was a little unpleasant since the restaurant can get a little toasty. I thought this restaurant would be lenient since we were in the dining area and not the bar area but it was to no avail. The vibe of this place is pretty cool. There's a patio area that people can sit and mingle in. There's a spacious bar area where people can congregate and there's also a decent-sized restaurant area where all of the tables are located for diners. Music was playing the entire time we were there and it's interesting to hear how much American music was played. We ordered the famous hanging kebab and I got the lamb kofta which also comes with seasoned chips. Personally, I think the hanging kebab is more of a novelty. It's pretty cool to have your kebab just hanging for you to pluck but in terms of price and what you're getting, I think it's just average. You're definitely paying for your food to be hung that is cool to snap for social media. While I thought the pieces of lamb were prepared well, I thought the dish was lacking something to pair with the meat and I'm not quite sure the seasoned chips do the trick. While the chips are good, I was hoping for something more. At the end of the day, it's pretty cool to have a hanging kebab. It's more about the experience here at the Botanist.

Magical? Chemical?…read more The alchemist is not only a nice surrounding to sit in but the service and food are great and delicious. When we checked in and were asked if there were any allergies we made jokes about my husband's allergy to cinnamon - that we would not need to worry about out it before desert. We ordered a few items from the menu - which is a very delicious mix of classics with some twists (tempura fried fish and chips for example). Order was taken and a couple minutes later the manager came and said "I am sorry - but the sauce to the fish contains a bit of cinnamon" wow! We change the order of course and the manager came back to the table asking if we would be worried about cross termination. We have been not and everything went well after that. Great service. The food itself plays with the alchemist theme for example the chorizo meatballs come with a syringe to inject your own amount of cheese (what you think? Yes of course o injected the whole Syringe into the little delicious meatball duhh). The menu consist of a lot of small items which makes me so happy since I can have so many bites of different things and at the alchemist they are all worth it! And of course classics like burger, salads and sandwiches alongside their mains. The menu is not too big but literally has something for everyone. You have to try the crispy pork skins! After we had been told that the crispy fish contains cinnamon my husband learned they offer their "chicken in a basket" as a vegetarian version as well and that is what he got. Damn that is so good: A bed of chips (fries for our American friends) are surrounded by one of the best coleslaw I had in a long time (almost as good as Guy Fieri's if not even better) then slightly pan seared onions and peppers layer on top of the fries. Ready to be mixed in. Then of course a generous amount of chicken or in this case plant based chicken smothered in a sweet chili sauce. Not to forgot to mention that it came with an extra little bowl of dipping sauce. Delicious! We also had a mocktail which name I might not be allowed to recite here let's named it "virgin adult film star" what a perfect combination of fruit, creme and sweetness. Yummmmmm To end the night I had coffee and Choclate - any serving of coffee comes with a set of three pralines. What a way to end the night at the alchemist. Great atmosphere perfect service and delicious food and drinks.

I've been many many times since and now I live so close by, it's one of my local bars on a night out. This underground tiki-themed dive bar is small, but always has the best atmosphere. The drinks are all yummy, mainly rum based and the cocktails are a delight to watch being made and to drink! The bartenders in Liars are very friendly and are always up for a laugh. I do find that Liars Club is better during the week than at a weekend - the weekend gives off a different vibe, and gets a little too busy for my liking - but rest assured you'll have a good night in here no matter when you visit.

Plus, I read this place was known for its many types of cocktails so I wanted to check it out! The bar is well decorated and looks like it was taken from a set of the cheap version of Gillian's island or something. The decorations can be considered tacky, but come on... It's a tiki bar! I give props to them for their effort. They have a big cocktail menu so don't come here for just a glass of wine or beer... Nope, you're in the wrong bar for that! When we ordered our drinks, we found out that there was a 2 4 1 deal, so we ended up with one extra drink...score! We ended up ordering the zombie (it had fire so I thought it was cool) and three others I can't remember... Haha. All I remember is the drinks were strings, some were well mixed while others were eh it was ok... Just tasted like alcohol. Though the bar is cool, it does have a smelly funk to it so prepare to close your nose especially if the place is crowded...the drinks are cool, pretty creative but the art of making yummy cocktails is kinda lost because the proportion of the juices and alcohol isn't quite well done. Fun place to go to though if you don't care about that stuff!
