The food is classed as pan asian which is great as I love all asian food. However, the sushi, although very good, I feel it is slightly overpriced for what you get. The duck, especially at lunch, is amazing value though. Plenty for 2 to share. This is definitely a place to try out if you love asian food.

My first visit to Sakana and I was pleasantly surprised at how its interior looked (more so the delicious smells wafting over as you passed by their open kitchen). We were seated in a corner with decent views of the goings-on, and set about conquering the menu - the group was almost military in its tactics, dividing the menu's sections between ourselves to make sure we got to sample lots of different dishes. Three of us ordered a bottle of their house red (a Merlot) which was actually quite good - a bit on the peppery side but I really liked it. The food started to arrive after a bit of a wait, but we'd had some prawn crackers to whet our appetite. The sashimi platter that I ordered for us all to share was a bit disappointing (usual price £28 for 15 pieces). I can't think of anything else that was particularly underwhelming; the combo of orders was all rather good - but the highlights for me were the Taiwanese buns which you could have with shredded duck or pork belly (we ordered both). These were absolutely heavenly, for want of a better word. Service was friendly, if not a tad haphazard at times; it's definitely somewhere to consider for date night. That being said, you'd have to be happy 'flashing the cash' as I don't think it's worth the full price they'd ordinarily be charging diners.

(Although maybe not the sort of meal that would really fill you up if you were really hungry). I have had the fish tacos, the slow cooked short ribs and most recently the Dragon Bowl. The fish tacos were pretty good, short ribs tasty and the Dragon Bowl was good too. Fusion Lab is located right next to Viet Shack - part of the same family - and they serve similar sort of food. Also just opposite is Gym Shack which is all part of the same family (and opened by the same people). This is similar to Kettlebell Kitchen with high protein and healthy carb meals - (still not had a chance to try Gym Shack yet). One thing to mention, with Vietnamese food generally, it often has coriander in it so if you don't like it, mention this and can you have what you order without it - which I forgot when I got the short ribs.

Or perhaps they don't need to and it is just a play pet project for the owners who also own Seamark (the building next door) Hulme is not a nice area and it really is an odd place to have a restuarant such as this, bit out the way and not a place I recommend for a nice stroll. The decor is great and they spent millions of pounds designing it, so you will certainly be in awe of the place. However the food is not so grand. It is by no means bad but come on!!!!! This is Manchester and as fellow yelpers would testify there is a massive choice for diners and to be honest when it comes to food alone this place falls short of a few places I can think of. As I said the food is ok, and the place is well worth checking out once, but will you return there on a regular basis?? I think not. Oh, and I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to make this brochure that you can pick up on your way out, but it did make me cringe. Awful design and a blatantly staged picture with a rather lairy looking Ryan Giggs with an accompanying caption which read "regular customers" made me just think "school boy error!!!!!!!!" So perhaps its not so much the place, which is great, nor the food, which is not bad. It's just.... it seems the owner put a lot of time, effort and money into the place and left it for a bunch of monkeys to run... But hey I took me madre here on her birthday and she loved it. The ambiance of the place. So much so she didn't really care what the food was like. I imagine that sentiment is echoed quite alot..... So 3*s is about right me thinks...A-ok indeed fellow yelpeeps.. We ended up going in here after wandering around Chorlton for…read morethe better part of an hour on New Year's Day, trying to find somewhere which was both open and still serving food. We actually tried to go to Double Zero, which is practically next door, but as there was another 20 minutes until they opened which would've meant standing outside in the cold we went elsewhere and arrived at Yakisoba. The restaurant itself is a bit narrow, but there's room inside for a decent amount of people - say 30-40 or so. We were a group of 6, which wasn't an issue as they weren't very busy. Unlike other restaurants serving Asian food, Yakisoba had already provided cutlery on the tables as well as chopsticks so you don't have to make that embarrassing admission that you can't use them. The menu is pretty extensive, with a selection of starters and sharing platters, but practically everything comes with a bento box with a range of accompaniments for a larger main dish. We ordered three of the mixed dumpling platters to share between us, and for a main I went for the Kare Katsu Chicken, which came with steamed jasmine rice as well as the bento. The mixed dumpling platter had 10 dumplings (2 of each of the five varieties), as well as some dipping sauces such as sweet chilli and soy. I liked all the dumplings, which were filled with a variety of meats and fish, and the sweet chilli sauce was great. There was a little bit of a wait between the bento aspect of the meal arriving and the main dish following it, but that wasn't too bad. One of our party had a little mishap where one of the staff dropped a portion of rice on the table, which we made a little bit of a joke about and the lady who was waiting on our table took it in good humour too. The Kare Katsu was a hearty portion, and I mean hearty. The chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked without being dry, and the katsu curry sauce was fantastic. The chicken pieces were huge too, which made it interesting eating with chopsticks but I enjoy a challenge and it also stopped me from basically inhaling my food. The rice was good also, but I think sticky rice would have been my preference - especially for eating with chopsticks. The others went for a range of different bento meals, including the teriyaki beef steak and the duck in red thai curry, all of which looked delicious and went down well. They have a decent range of drinks as well, including Asian beers like Kirin Ichiban and Tsingtao as well as wine and spirits. Overall, even though we didn't set out to go to Yakisoba I'm quite happy that we did. Some of our group couldn't finish the meal, due to the size of the portions not any issue with quality, so if you're after a hearty meal then this place will provide. At £25 each for a starter, main and a couple of drinks each including a tip it's also not going to break you financially either. If you just wanted a main course, all the bento boxes were around £9-12 and would make a good meal on their own. I'd certainly be happy to return to Yakisoba in future.

Initially choosing the new Caribbean place, The Drop, we quickly left once we'd been told by other diners that they'd been waiting two hours for their food! Thankfully Yakisoba was right there and so we gave them a try. I'm really glad we did as the food was lovely; their menu is varied and appetising. I love places with open kitchens, it somehow makes you feel like you're no longer sitting in the UK. After sharing a platter of starters between us, we each ordered a Bento Box which, together with your main course, comprises an assortment of salad, vegetable miso soup and steamed Jasmine rice. I ordered the Teriyaki Fillet Steak (grilled slices of fillet steak with ginger, rice wine and soy sauce). The sauce was particularly rich but when 'diluted' in the rice made for a delicious and hearty dinner. A thoroughly pleasant evening and I'd definitely eat here again if I was in this neck of the woods.

I immediately marked down this place. The weather was so good this afternoon so I decided to pay a visit with my friend. I arrived at 6:15 and it was totally empty inside, and we were the only table they served tonight. Which was a very first time for me but I think it was enjoyable because I can have my own time with my friends. I had Passion fruit and mango mocktail and I recommended my friend to try lassi since its signature drinks, my friends really enjoyed it and would like to try again next time. For starter we had Salmon Takki and Lamb chop. Both were very very delicious. Salmon was fresh and cooked perfectly. The marinate was indeed spot on. Lamp chop was a highlight as well. It was tender and juicy. I would definitely recommend this for every meat lover. For main course we had Chicken xacuti, it was recommended by the waitress. The flavor was very rich and quite spicy for me though, but it went well with the freshly made roti so I can manage the spice. But for chicken dish, it is very hard to cook it right because its very easy to be overcooked and taste dry. I can't say ziya makes perfect chicken curry, but it wont disappointed you much. Maybe try some lamb and seafood curry? Overall, Ziya gave me a very great impression, not only the food they serve but also the friendly staff as well. I really enjoy their beautiful venue and chilling atmosphere. Would revisit soon!

Went down several flights of stairs, cute, at the time quiet atmosphere, seated straightaway. The staff were really nice, especially the lady that closed our ticket. She was a hoot and sharing with our son how he should be a Manchester "United" fab vs "City". Ordered several different things to try since it was our 1st time, most reviews seem old and not good. So let's get into it: 1st up: Duck Gyoza: fried very crispy with a side of cherry hoisin sauce. The meat was pretty tender. Was it good, yes, would I personally order again, no. I like the steamed gyoza better for me. 2nd: The Hot Honey Fried Chicken (Teriyaki flavor). Chicken coated in hot honey + teriyaki sauce. Topped with mixed pickles and served with a zesty vegan mayo on the side. Let me clear my throat, this right is my kinda food. Th meat was tender, spicy, sweet and savory all at the same dang time. In fact, we ordered a 2nd order. This was a table hit!!! 3rd: Bang, Bang Cauliflower. Hear me when I say,SPICY!!! Good but SPICY, my husband loved this so much he ordered a 2nd serving. 4th: The reason we came, our son's request (11may I add). shirodashi pork belly ramen slow-cooked pork belly drizzled with korean barbecue sauce + ramen noodles in a rich chicken broth. pea shoots. menma. wakame. spring onion. half a tea-stained egg. To our surprise, he tore into this bowl!! He will likely eat most foods kids his age doesn't eat but he didn't shy away from any of the ingredients, I was taken aback when he bit into the egg!! As for mom tax on his food, the noodles could have been a bit softer (cooked longer). The flavor was pretty good. Not saying I need to order my own but glad he enjoyed it!! We had water, him a Sprite, happy about the Zero Sugar but wish it was fountain vs. can. All in all pretty decent meal, pricing was okay for the amount of food, I guess. . I'd say, if you've never eaten at a WagaMama, give it a try. Hope this review helped inspire you!!
