A pretty good modern bar with the emphasis on cocktails. The music they play attracts a slightly older crowd. Impressed.

Revolution is a great bar in Preston. You are able to test out more than 20 flavours of vodka, one…read moreto suit all tastes. Eating here isn't too hot though. Food is a little pricey for the quality and they rarely have your first choice of food. The average price of a meal is about £7. It's definitely a drinking place rather than an eating place.

Myself and my colleagues have been regulars at Rift & Co (previously Revolution) for about 3 years…read more It's had gone through a lot of changes and the decor is now cool and modern plus the service is excellent. However the once outstanding food has gone seriously down hill. The portion sizes have dramatically reduced as has the quality. Once serving juicey nocarella olives.. They are now tasteless jarred ones, the generous king prawn flatbread is now smaller with fewer and cold prawns and served on a tortilla wrap rather than a large warm and fresh garlic flatbread. There are many details such as these throughout the menu that has completely put us off. Also Rift needs to decide if it's attracting the after work meal crowd or loud drinking crowd.. It currently seems very confused by trying to do both and pleasing very few. The privilege card system has now been revoked which provided drinks deals and 25% off food. This kept us coming back (when the food was better) plus recommending Rift to other friends and colleagues. The fantastic and attentive staff meant this review wasn't a 2 star.. They asked our group to review Rift so hope this helps make some changes!

I have had to change my positive review of this place which I don't enjoy doing but you are only as…read moregood as your last performance and I had to be honest. Despite it being warm and sunny outside, inside it was cold and dark, so not a great atmosphere. The waitress was pleasant but not exactly friendly, although she did her job well. We decided to have two starters and the salad bar instead of starters and a main. My starter of garlic mushrooms was delicious, but my fiancé's pea and ham soup was gritty and powdery. Then he had sizzling chilli prawns which he did enjoy although the amount of prawns was not that good for the price and there were too many chillies in it. I chose prawn cocktail. I've had it from there before and it was gorgeous. Oh how I miss those times. It was advertised as coming with a Marie rose sauce, not that difficult to make you would think. Well it clearly was for the chef on duty this afternoon. The prawns were small, tasteless and watery. No doubt out of the frozen section of Tesco. And then there was the sauce. I think it had been made with a LOT of creme fraiche and a minimal amount of anything else. It was vile. It was so vile that it was all that I could take not to vomit at the table. I sent it back, the first time I have ever sent food back in 29 years. I was asked if I wanted another or something different but declined as I had the worst taste in my mouth. I couldn't even manage the salad as that wasn't at its best and all I could taste was the sauce. To be fair they did not charges for the prawn cocktail but if a chef can't manage something so simple then perhaps he should log on to Jobcentre Plus perhaps he will find his calling there. There was also a lot of dust everywhere which does not exactly make you warm to a place. It is frustrating as after our last visit my fiancé emailed them to say how much we had enjoyed it. I have a feeling they won't want to read what I have to say. Disappointing to say the least.

Personally I love the Windmill and have done for many years, I nearly fell out with the place a…read morewhile ago due to being served a horrible meal, but it has since redeemed itself. No more waiting at the bar to be served, you are met at the door by the waiting staff and shown to a table (of your choice if it isn't busy), the salad bar is a new addition and has everything you expect including eggs, pickles, pasta, even waldorf salad. The service is always friendly and efficient and the food is 9.9 times out of 10 very good.
