We were keen on ordering something traditional. I got the rag pudding and my friend ordered a steak pie. The food was delicious. I would have preferred that they not cover my fries in gravy, but it was still really good. We sat at the bar, and within a few minutes of opening the bar was crowded with the locals on their lunch hour. We got our first taste of a traditional bitter, and enjoyed it with our meals. Again, the bartender and staff were delightful, and we were happy with our brief stop there.

As you walk in you can tell it's a very friendly, cosy traditional pub type restaurant. We ordered our drinks and the lady asked we was eating which we were so they gave us a menu and said if we'd like to sit in the bar while we choose. We ordered our meals and within 5 minutes we went downstairs to the restaurant area and more or less our starters came. I had prawn cocktail which was excellently presented and very nice, then had surf and turf which again was excellently presented exactly how I ordered it Medium rare and was delicious. We also ordered some beer battered onion rings which were gigantic but really nice. All together it came to about £35 for both of us including drinks and highly recommended.

The bartender was attentive and quite the talker. Only gripe is that it is somewhat cramped but you get used to it. Overall, I loved the experience.
