Five years ago, passing somebody in the street wearing white earbuds would elicit a knowing nod although strangers to each other, iPod owners considered themselves a clique, a cabal of cool... knowledge of Corridor's existence and location is spreading, usually by word of mouth and pretty soon, like the iPod it will ingratiate itself to the masses but thanks to the simplicity of the door policy (if you can find it, you can come in) and the focus on great drinks and service. Corridor will be cool for many years to come." Honestly. Anyone reading that with at least a trace of a rudimentary brain-cell should be wanting to hunt the place down and level it with as many explosives and bulldozers as possible. Stepping inside this hell-hole is when the suffering really begins. Red-lights adorn the area, complete with Curiosity Killed The Cat's 'Greatest Hits' being churned out of the in-house PA at ear-bleeding volume, leaving patrons to slink cod-disaffectedly on the red sofas, trying to read each other's lips on the off-chance anyone might say something of even the slightest significance. If they enjoy being here, then it is a safe bet that they're saying nothing interesting at all, leaving everyone else to slump in their chairs wishing someone would come and give them a lethal injection to end the unrelenting misery of this irritating hipster-gland. I managed to find myself faced with an achingly wacky bar-staff, all dressed in lab-coats. One of them fancied himself as something of a comedian. In reality, he was the flesh and bones equivalent of a novelty tie. Alas, no law has been passed where you can force people like him face-first through paper-shredders. To the right of the bar was a 'hilarious' chalk-board with formulas and equations on for patrons to work out. You'd be wrong in thinking that people ignore it as three dunderheads gamely stood by trying to work out whatever pointless equation it was, presumably in the name of a free drink. On top of this, the prices on the bar were extortionate and there was nothing on tap. Anyone who actually pays to buy a bottle of Bud should be thrashed to within an inch of their lives. I got a dark rum concoction and, to be quite frank, it was dismal. Almost apologetically, a fat man in a lab coat was sent around the venue to serve up experimental booze-treats. That means a big spoon with vodka jelly on and some cream that tasted like vermouth. As interesting as it sounded, the screwed up faces belied the polite approval it brought as the fat man revelled in the only attention he'd ever got in his life from absolutely anyone. One good thing about Corridor is that the man who served me my drink was so thick that he gave me a tenner instead of a fiver in my change. I saw that as compensation for having to endure a hideous, grotesque place that had the soulless bon homie of a wine-bar in a crap '80s American sitcom. Thanks to all of the above, this place will no doubt be a runaway success to yapping fools who buy into a supposed exclusivity and irony. Kill it.

I did not realize it was a bar, the first few times I crossed this place because it looks more like a fancy Pawn Shop or vintage store. The concept is the create an American pub like feel quite similar to Noho (just the furniture's are new and the couches look less used). They have a wide selection of bottled beers (they don't have pints) but if you are the sorts who likes to experiment with beer you will love it! The bar staff are very well trained just like Noho and keep experimenting with cocktails and love to show off some of their cool tricks! I was here on several occasions with friends and its a great place to hang out after work because the music is not too loud but just about fine to enjoy yourself and relax! Oh I have to mention they always play my favorite tracks here (Bob Marley, RHCP, Creed) and that is the reason for my one extra star! :D The price of drinks is very friendly and reasonable so doesn't hurt your pocket much. Like Dusk till Pawn there is also a green tea-based cocktail which is outstanding, my girls liked their drinks too. Where Guilty By Association was different from its above-mentioned NQ brethren is that the music was much more chart/cheese which led to some extra fun dancing. Also, it has booths. The food is being overseen by Anthony Fielden of Northern Quarter Restaurant so that gives me hope. I was a little miffed that although they advertise cocktails the guy behind the bar looked at me like I had just asked for a bowl of milk. No cocktails on offer but the other drinks were reasonably priced for that area. I was in there on a reconnaissance mission, and would have been interested to check it out anyway, but felt a lot of the clientele were in there because they thought they'd be classed as the 'cool set'. That just means everyone is watching everyone else and forgets to actually have fun. Luckily my friends and I snared a table and set about doing just that. I felt the music was poor for a Saturday night. I was expecting far better, especially as it's open until 5am. There are loads of good DJ's around who could offer something far more original. It was a bit like listening to a CD that is advertised in the ad breaks between Holyoaks. My friends and I left before I was tempted to 'hang the DJ' and found solace elsewhere. It certainly isn't the jewel in NQ's crown but it's the new kid on the block so perhaps once it has found its feet it'll find a voice I want to listen to on a Saturday night.

Unless you like waiting half an hour for a drink, which you're most likely to spill given everyone around you thinks they're MJ reincarnated. It probably isn't your kettle of sardine. However Blackdog is brilliant if you want a game of pool and unwind during the week. It's brilliant for a weeknight in January with chilled vibes as I discovered few days ago. But on a busy night it's better to avoid it.

I had dreams about their Strawberry and rosemary one for nights after my first experience. They sell many other wonderful flavours such as Peach meba and sour apple. Only go to this place if you're into your spanish drinks as they only serve tequila, cerveza and margharetas. But the atmosphere and the drinks make this my most favourite bar in town. by a mile.

I find it quite dark inside, especially during the daytime and it doesn't have much of an atmosphere. At night, as the other reviewers have pointed out, it is just loud. I remember sitting outside Artisan which is right in front of Neighbourhood last summer, I was out for a few drinks with a friend and we were sat outside chatting and drinking for a couple of hours. During this time we saw people entering and leaving neighbourhood, a lot of wannabe WAG types and the general consensus seemed to be less is more in the way of clothing. Throw in the pervs in suits and the Mr Muscle 'look at me' types and you've got yourself a party. I got a Panacea vibe from it *shudders* That might appeal to some, but not me. BUT having said that, I was pleasantly surprised yesterday which just goes to show that events like this give those that wouldn't normally give your business a look in an opportunity to give it a try. We were greeted with smiles and the staff were welcoming, we got a Christmas cocktail upon arrival. Not exactly sure what was in it but I think it might have been vodka and some sort of mulled cheery liquor. It was yummy but it would have been nice to know what it was, it wasn't on the menu yet. They've lost a star because of two reasons. 1 - because some of the staff were too busy giving their friends preferential treatment so overlooked other guests 2 - we weren't offered any canapés despite being passed by about 5 times, eventually we just asked and were given a whole platter between 2, situation wholly redeemed :) We got to try the neighbourhood smoked salmon which was fresh and full of flavour. The celeriac soup with chestnut cream and truffle oil was sooooo yummy, the crunchy texture of the crisp chestnut garnish complimented the savoury, creamy flavour/texture well and you could really taste the truffle oil. The tempura prawns were huge, juicy with a thin, crispy coating. They came with two dips, one was rather like mayo and the other more spicy. Needless to say I preferred spicy. The pulled chicken croquettes were over seasoned and too salty, my least favourite. The prawns were my favourite. NOW - let me talk about the mulled wine! I had two glasses of the good stuff, given how hot it was outside yesterday it felt a bit weird but it was sublime. Smelt and tasted delicious, if nothing else I'll be back for this alone. The dessert options were Christmas pudding which was A-OK and the chocolate pot (mousse) with passion fruit, which was pretty thick and rich. Both tasty and well executed. You can book your Christmas dinner here for £32.50, 3 courses with a glass of mulled wine or Prosecco added in for an extra fiver. The lunch option is £24.50 plus fiver for drink. I say it's worth it given the quality. They offer 4 options for the main, we didn't get to try these but they are the usual turkey et al, sirloin of beef, woodland mushroom risotto and hake. A nice variety. They offer 2 for 1 on all drinks from 5-7pm on weekdays which is pretty good, we bought two glasses of Prosecco for £8.50. The crowd was mixed for this event but I wasn't wrong about the 'types' that frequent this establishment.. however, having been here once, I would give it another go. Overall it was a fun event with good food and drinks. The live band playing Christmas classics was a nice touch, as were the garlands etc. 10.2.17 I ate here again a couple of weeks ago and the food was DIVINE! I would never go on a Friday or Saturday but mid week is perfect :)
