I'm very glad I had the chance to try this place during MTL à la table because it's been on my list for quiet a bit now!
The restaurant has 2 floors, on the top floor they have a musician that plays the cello. Our waiter was very nice, very attentive through the whole meal. And each course arrived within a timely matter.
For the entrees we ordered the mushroom cappuccino, grilled octopus and the foie gras torchon.
The mushroom cappuccino was good, although the the taste of mushroom was very pronounced (which makes sense sense it's mushroom soup). The foie gras wasn't good. It was very bland, the brioche bread with fig had more taste than the foie gras.
For the second course we ordered, escargot, beef wagyu carpaccio and pumpkin risotto with goat cheese. The escargot was good, there were 6 snails on a bed of large sea salt grains. The beef wagyu carpaccio was Amazing! The beef mixed with the aïoli and the pecorino shaving worked perfectly together! The pumpkin risotto with goat cheese was phenomenal! The risotto was soft and cooked perfectly. The mixture of the pumpkin with the walnuts was the perfect texture. And adding the crumbled pieces of goat cheese In the middle, brought up a notch! (Im not usually a fan of goat cheese) but the tarty, earthy taste of the goat cheese was the perfect paring with the pumpkin!
For the 3rd course we ordered the tuna steak, lamb shoulder and the sea food bouillabaisse. the tuna steak was good, it was nicely seared on the outside and still pink and soft on the inside. The lamb shoulder was very tender, the meat fell right off the bone.
The sea food bouillabaisse was overall disappointing. It was more of seafood with a sauce than a bouillabaisse and it was lacking in flavour.
For dessert they offered a plate with a variety of desserts to taste.
Overall the service was great and majority of the food was good. I recommend the grilled octopus, beef wagyu carpaccio, the pumpkin risotto, the lamb and the tuna.
The one thing I would suggest to the waiters, is not stand in the area in the back where the bathrooms are chitchatting. It makes people think there is a huge line for the bathroom when there isn't.
4 for the food-the foie gras and the seafood bouillabaisse just completely missed the mark.
4.5 on service - I didn't go to the washroom because I thought there was a huge line. lone and behold my friends told me there was no line just the waiters chitchatting with each other. read more
