There was a wait for getting seated (the worker did not come out for a while) and there was such a long wait for the food - I sat down at 1:40 for brunch on a Saturday and the food final arrived at 2:30 We asked two waiters about our order and still had to wait for an answer. The snowy weather didn't stop this mom foursome from enjoying a Gal-entine/Mardi Gras night out. The place has a great atmosphere, warm and inviting. You definitely feel like you're visiting a friend's house. Our waiter, Andrew was amazing. Made great suggestions, was attentive but gave us plenty of space to enjoy our night out. All I have to say is that I had SO MUCH FUN! I was lucky enough to visit during the holiday season, and the Christmas decor is done by a company named Miracle. It was simply amazing. I have been to Gus' a few times and had a pretty good experience. The decor is what gets me as I love the 60s vibe. The drinks are really great and you cannot beat the price. The bartenders are personable and happy to serve and speak to the customers at the bar. However, the are not as boozy as I would like unless you are getting a drink made wholly of liquor. It usually takes about 2-3 three drinks to feel a buzz. However, they are very tasty. The food is standard fair and lacks a little bit of excitement if I am being honest, but it is still good for the type of food it is. Also, I feel like their menu is kind of all over the place on cuisine level, making it hard to do one type of dish exceptionally well. My biggest complaint is that one weekends they have live music that is so loud that you cannot hear the conversations you're having with people you are there with. I am saying this having been sitting on the side of the bar by the entry way and still having to scream to speak to my friends. It's a good place to go randomly for a drink, but there are better places in the area food wise. read more

So I would just like to preface this review with a disclaimer - I totally adore Skopos Hospitality and the restaurants they own. The decor in each restaurant has such an amazing personality and I appreciate all the hard work that goes into creating these beautiful restaurants. I've been a fan of the Borrow House and Cowins for years and I was SO excited to hear Gus' was coming to Wood-Ridge right by little ol' me! I have since been to Gus' a handful of times. I go mostly to sit at the bar for drinks and small bites. The drinks are always top notch. The bartenders really know how to mix a drink. I also appreciate their rotating beer menu and all the different options they provide. Drinks and ambiance definitely get 5 stars from me. The last time I went it was with a party of seven and I think that's where things maybe went awry? We placed out drink order and they came out in a timely fashion. We then ordered two appetizers and our meals. We were enjoying our drinks and company but began to notice that it was taking quite some time to get our food. My kids started to complain about how hungry they were. The table of four that came after us received their food before we even got our appetizers and were long gone before our entrees arrived. I however did enjoy the meatballs and brussels sprouts appetizers. Very flavorful! I split a pizza with my sister and that was good too. Surprisingly my son's mac and cheese was not good at all. The noodles were SO soft and it was SO bland. He did enjoy my pizza though. It was just a bit disappointing to have to wait so long for our food and to have no one acknowledge that it was taking quite some time. I am certainly not looking for comps! It didn't take too long for us to find seats by the bar area which was great. Last year we had done a few Miracle pop-up bars for Christmas and really enjoyed the Christmas decor and drinks. This pop up to be precise was beautifully decorated where each corner you would turn you would notice so many little nice touches of Christmas decor. The decor definitely gets a 5/5 rating. The service itself was not the best! The waiter took forever to take our drink order even when the bar area wasn't crowded during the time we went. And once placing our drink order, the drinks took forever to come and the same went with getting the check LOL! Service gets a 2/5 rating :( As for the drinks themselves, I wish the cups were more Christmasy. The drinks themselves were decent, I've definitely had better last year. I also didn't like that the host said it was a 2-3 hour wait when there were several tables available, I guess they don't want to make money?! Definitely make a reservation if you want to go since it'll probably be packed. The drinks were very strong and not very good tasting. The flavors of all the cocktails don't sound like they go very well together. For mains, we got the chicken sandwich and the butternut squash pappardelle. The chicken sandwich was delicious and you can't really go wrong with that. However, my butternut squash pappardelle was not very well made. The flavor combo of the sauce and the tomatoes and other stuff in the pasta didn't make sense at all. I would not recommend this dish. Jar sauce probably tastes better than this. Came here on a Tuesday night with a buddy of mine. Found this place through Yelp, checked out the pics and reviews and went for it. Once we walked in, got seated promptly to our tables. There was trivia night going on in the other side of the room. It wasn't too loud but entertaining since you can hear the questions and just try to answer them on your own. The place has a clean, lightly dim, old school vibe. Started off with a cocktail, golden girl ($10) which was good and then got a Gus' lager ($6). For starters got the spinach and artichoke dip ($13) which was really good, came w chips and pieces of pita. I ended up getting the bacon burger ($17), medium rare and was cooked to perfection. They forgot to add the bacon on my burger but server sent over a side of it after telling them. If your in the mood for good food and drinks, I highly recommend this place. Gus' Last Word is currently my favorite bar in the area. They have a great outdoor area, good happy hour, and good food. Happy hour is 4-7pm and all day on Monday. Drink prices are cheap regardless. Their cocktail menu reads like one from a speakeasy in NYC, but with most cocktails at $12. Their happy hour cocktails are the knuckle sandwich (kinda like an old fashioned) and pompadour (very citrusy). The chicken lollipops are my favorite thing on the happy hour menu, but everything else was good too. I've also been on a Tuesday for tacos, tequila, and trivia. The margaritas are pretty good and just as strong as any of their other drinks. The tacos come in chicken, brisket, and crispy cauliflower. All of them are decent, but my favorite was the brisket which really tasted like corned beef. I've also had their burger which was solid. But the mushroom pizza was a bit floppy for my tastes. A friend of mine and I got together to get something to eat. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a winter wonderland. There were Christmas decorations everywhere and they even changed their name to Miracle Way which was super cute. The staff was even dressed in Christmas costumes. We started with drinks and I got the cosmo which I didn't particularly care for so I switched to a chocolate drink that was tasty. My friend enjoyed her cosmo. For our meals I got the chicken sandwich and she got the buffalo cauliflower and chicken tacos. The sandwich came out lukewarm and so did the fries so I didn't finish those but the sandwich wasn't bad. My friend enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower but the tacos came out lukewarm as well and she said it was just ok. The bill came to about $28 for myself. This place was great I was so happy to finally get to visit. I would've give them five stars but I was a little disappointed when we went in sat down and our server said to us that no entrées or pizza we're being served because the cook was on vacation. That was very offputting and we were almost going to have one drink and leave but we decided just to stay. The drinks were really really good I had to off of the cocktail menu including their signature drink and it was delicious it tasted like pink lemonade with a kick. Our entrées were incredible well not really entrées as we could only order sandwiches salads and appetizers. Made a reservation for the Miracle on Valley at Gus' Last Word for Sunday on the last day of this holiday pop up. We walked in and literally stepped into a Christmas wonderland. The whole restaurant from the walls to the tables were decked out for Christmas...I loved it! We were quickly seated and were provided the menus. Andrew was our waiter and he was amazing throughout our entire visit. The drink menu had holiday themed names which was fun. I started with the Yipee Ki Yay Motherf****r (clue in the Die Hard reference). The other drinks were the Christmapolitan, Reindeer's Replacement, and Elfing Around. The drinks were served in some awesome mugs which were also available for purchase. We started with some appetizers and got the nachos. Nachos were really good. The My Pear Lady was a testament to why bartenders across the planet are so necessary. This drink oozed balance quaffability and just overall just made me want to hug the bartender. Hug a bar tender day should be a thing. The bread pudding though makes this place a 7 Michelen star joint. Took my kids out to get them in the spirit for the holidays, and this place delivered with the decor it's beautiful and bright. The food was good we all shared apps and we loved it all. We had the pretzel the empanadas the popcorn chicken and a side of fries. The reason for the review is so maybe they can work on these two things. First being service; it really wasn't good and it wasn't busy so there was no reason for it I'm chalking it up to maybe they had a busier early dinner rush and we're trying to catch up with the cleaning. We went around 8pm on a Sunday evening.. the waitress didn't acknowledge us except to place the bottle of water for the table then came back 15 mins later to take our order.. she noticed I was using my phone to order drinks and offered to bring the menu but never did which isn't a huge deal. After the order was placed and the food was dropped off she only check in once to see if we needed a box. The second issue I have is being charged the extra cc charge even though I paid cash. I let it be and just left the note since my bill wasn't too high but for other patrons just keep an eye out for this so you don't get charged the same way.
