Hard to say what my real opinion is of this place. The service was prompt polite and efficient. My food was good, far from great but good. I've dined here 3 times when I travel to this area and I crave Indian when my wife's not around. I think Expectations for quality of food was higher I just feel they can do better. Decor could use some work. Having. Staff sit at a booth I feel is lazy. Coming from restaurant background and fix the tables they wobble. Might go back might not. Delicious food! We tried the sampler our first time in and everything on it was delicious. The second time I ordered the lamb saag and garlic naan. Both were very tasty, the lamb melted in my mouth and the naan was the perfect texture. Servings are generous, don't be fooled by the bowl sizes. It is morethan enough for one serving. I loved this little jewel of a restaurant. The staff was exquisite in terms of being attentive yet unobtrusive. It's a little diner setting and in that sense it generates a kinda low key comfort. And the food...THE FOOD! We had an appetizer of fried cheese, a chicken tikka masala and a Nepali dish that's a bit of a ragu. Those dishes and the rice were excellent. Stopped here during a roadtrip. Currently not many reviews on yelp for this gem of a place, but if you're like me and look for reviews to help you make a decision I suggest a Google search where you will find numerous rave reviews. Not many people inside once we arrive an hour after opening, we were able to select our seat. Decided on a booth and was surprised at how hard the seats were. Water provided immediately and the waitress was kind enough to make suggestions. Food was delicious; fresh and packed with flavor. I highly recommend this place. AMAZING flavors-fresh ingredients and you can taste the authenticity of homemade sauces which were light and delicious. We enjoyed the homemade Himalayan vegetable Mo:Mo, Saag Paneer; and Veggie Korma. We suggested they open a Guru East in NJ, which is where we are visiting from! read more

Came in late, and were impressed by how lovely and attentive the staff were even though we were the last customers in the house. Guru's has a great selection of popular Indian dishes and traditional Nepalese cuisine; we tried a selection of both and were particularly impressed by the vegetarian Momos (Nepalese steamed dumplings) and bhindi (Indian okra). One of better downtown JG meals we've had during our stay. Yes portions are not huge, but neither is it expensive. We were very happy with quality over quantity. We enjoyed the veggy momo appy, and the chicken tikka masala and lamb curry plus split a pistachio ice cream. All in all including service, a very nice experience for not a lot of money. read more

I was so excited to see that Gurus kitchen was taking over the space where Nepal used to be. I used to work in Montrose, and ate at their restaurant there many times, the food was always good and the people are so very sweet, and care about their customers. Because of recent covid-19 restrictions, they are unable to do their Buffet at this time, which was fine with us! We ordered off the menu, and had an incredible lunch! We shared their appetizer sampler, and an order of their delicious Tikka Masala, and we still had food left over to take home. They even brought us a delicious carrot based sweet dish, that was complimentary. I will definitely be visiting this restaurant often, and I hope the rest of our fair city does the same. read more

In town for a business trip. Wanted to support a local business, and it was near my hotel. So damn good. I had tandoori wings, chicken vindaloo, and garlic naan. The wings were fantastic, and came with really good vegetables. The chicken vindaloo was spicy af, but flavorful (if you can't handle spice, then this dish is NOT for you). The garlic naan was great. I'd easily return (which I will since I have a return trip next week). If you like Indian food, you need to try this. If you've never had Indian food, try this out. They are wayyy under staffed. We were the first inside at 5pm and it literally took us an hour to get our food. People before ha got our food and we didn't even order a lot. We had to wait forever for our water too. The guru platter we got was good. I got a vegetable noodle soup dish and it was so bland. I even asked for it medium. We had to leave fast and asked for our check. They then charged us for a drink they told us they didn't have. Then said we can get it for you now. What?!?! So they refunded us that in cash. They had a 10 year old doing our receipt and also we had to explain to her the issue with the drink. What?! Furthermore, it was a hassle to get good size to go boxes. I would not go here again until they get more on staff. They were booked by the time we left. Poor customers have no idea that they are in for a 2 hour dinner. read more

I wish I would have taken a picture before I devoured it! I'm very picky with Indian as my town has some of the best places and Gurus met if not exceeded the tastiness of my favorites back home! The entree sizes are relatively "small"... back home I can turn one serving into 2/3... but it's okay because it was so good! And you can order more rice if needed if you dine in. This is one of those places where you think you're smart trying it, and walk out feeling stupid. Really stupid. The takeout took 30 minutes. The price is outrageously stupid for what you get. Had a wonderful dinner here--ordered the Shrimp Thupka and it was delicious! The spices were perfect, and paired with an order of naan it made it even better, if that's even possible. We came from Denver and were looking for a good authentic restaurant. This place was awesome! It was dog friendly on the patio which I love! We had our pups with us. The owners were super friendly and the food was amazing!! We got the Guru Sampler and the tandoori wings (must try)! It was a lot of food and was inexpensive.
