We've had such a positive experience from start to finish and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality remodeling work.

Joe Juriana was highly recommended to me by friends who hired him for their home projects, and I…read moretoo was thrilled with the quality of work that he did for me. He did four projects for me while I was out of town for five days: First, Joe installed beautifully sanded and stained trim around a vertically stacked window in my loft room. Second, he installed new wood steps with handrails on my back porch. He added more width to the stairs than I previously had so that two people could walk down the steps together comfortably. The railings were sturdily installed. I could not have been more pleased by the safety and roominess of the steps and railings. For several years I lived with an unsightly sway in the middle of my back porch because two of the supports were rotting. Joe had to dig out a lot of rock to install the new posts. With the sway removed and new steps added, the porch looks practically new. Joe also put an aluminum patch over a woodpecker hole inmy cedar siging under the gabel on the fron of the house. The work was dangerous because of the steep angle needed to set the ladder high up from a very narrow front porch. The patch was hardily noticible, blending with the color of the naturalized cedar. It was an affordable solution that avoided having to replace the cedar siding. How wonderful tit was to come back home after a five day trip and find all this work expertedly finished. What huge improvements! Thank you, Joe!

We chose Kramer to support a small town, local business. Our hope and expectation is that we would…read morehave a better experience and greater ownership than had we gone with a big box store. Unfortunately our experience was the opposite. There were problems with our countertops that were not owned and resolved and some unnecessary cabinet parts that Kramer ordered, which added cost to us. What we had hoped would be great service and support of our local business was far from it. All in all, it was disappointing and frustrating; not a business we can confidently recommend to others.

I unfortunately hired Randy in June of 2022 to complete a renovation project on a rental property…read morethat included repairing the front porch and getting two units into rent ready condition. We entered into a standard agreement in which our company paid material costs directly and issued payment for half the labor upfront. The project was expected to be completed within approximately one month, but what followed was an unending series of excuses that extended the timeline several months. By November, he made the claim that the project was essentially completed, and he was only two days away from finishing up. He then asked for an additional installment payment equal to 50% of the second half of the labor cost, which we paid to him. When called four days later to confirm the completion of work he stated that he had a heart attack and he wouldn't be finishing the project (in addition to this claim, he added that two of his sons, upon hearing the news of his heart attack, got into a car wreck on their way to the hospital and were taken to the ICU themselves). We then immediately scheduled an inspection of the property, which uncovered a trivially amount of work had been completed (see pictures attached). The entire time he had been giving updates on the progress of the project, yet none of items in the scope of work were even close to be finished. We initially attempted to work with him to ensure the remainder of the project was completed in a swift manner, but he blocked our phone number. We then reached out to him via a secondary phone (unknown to him) asking for his availability to complete work on a property of ours in Dekalb, to which he replied that he was. You can make your own conclusions about his claim of health issues, but I believe the answer is clear. Under no circumstances would I hire him, and I hope that this serves as a warning for anyone who is thinking of employing him. If for some reason, you are still considering his services, I would be more than happy to connect to provide further details. TLDR: Do not hire Randy Smith of Sycamore / Dekalb, IL (aka Smith Handyman Services or RJ Contractor). We contracted with him to complete a home renovation. He claimed the project was two days from being complete and received $5,400 in labor payments. However, trivial progress was made and he refused to finish the job.

Called C & H one day and got scheduled for service within three days. The professionals cleaned and serviced my heating system and then explained to me, in detail what the problem was. If you have an old boiler that needs repair, do yourself a favor and call C & H. p.s. I have a phone with a Tennessee area code, that is why it says Nashville for my location-but C&H fixed my boiler located at my house in Sycamore.
