Worst management ever I had the worst experience ever, I spend so much money here and I can't believe it maybe look into new management

Had a business meeting at The Ritz and enjoyed a lunch outside at Gumbo Limbo! If you are looking for dining with a view then this is a great choice. We started with the Crab & Bean Queso dip. This was yummy and enough portions for 4 people to split. Then I ordered the Salmon BLT which is served on a whole grain toasted bread. My coworker had a Grouper sandwich with fries. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service is exceptional, as one would expect at The Ritz. View is amazing! Every table will have an awesome oceanfront view. Drink menu looked good but I had to head back to work afterwards so no chance to enjoy one...I will be sure to come back with my husband at sunset and try the dinner and drink menu! Keep in mind that you will need to valet park to dine at the restaurant. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the price * Average lunch item was $24 * read more

My rating would be higher if the hostess had done a better job. The food was flavorful, well presented and our waiter Hector was fantastic. He was attentive, helpful to everyone in the area and friendly. We waited over an hour, at one point I asked and was told we were the next large party to get a table. 5 minutes later some seats opened up at the bar area where we were waiting so we sat down. We quickly placed an order and two of us went to use the ladies room, I stopped to let the hostess know we had secured other seating. When I continued through I noted that there were three large party tables, cleaned, set and clearly unused but we never got a text letting us know a table was ready, we would have preferred to sit at a table instead of in a row (which makes talk to eat other hard). Now it's possible but unlikely that all three tables got cleared at the same time but it's highly unlikely that it happened in the time span from when I got up from my seat until I walked to the hostess stand. I wonder how long I would have waited for her to let us know that a table was ready. We had the shrimp appetizer which was great, three in the party had fish and said it was very good. One of us had the burger which he said was good and thick. And I had the shrimp and grits which was very good, not too heavy and just the right size. We ordered three different tropical drinks and each person enjoyed their selection. I would go one more time, if I were staying on property but I don't think I would make a special trip to wait an hour if I were staying elsewhere. read more

Eh, this is your typical Ritz-Carlton beach bar. Totally over priced mediocre food, but the sunset views are AMAZING and worth grabbing a few outrageously priced drinks for. Just make sure you get there early, because everyone else has the same idea. For food, we had the grouper tacos, the lobster quesadilla, chips & salsa, cobia/octopus ceviche, and the conch chowder. The grouper was pretty bland, and the ceviche was so lacking in flavor that I sent it back. Even though the chips and salsa were $12, they were served with excellent salsa, and pretty decent quac. We asked for pico de gallo (no charge), and it made a pretty decent appetizer. The conch chowder was the real standout. It's a huge bowl, and very filling. At $10, it's the most reasonably priced thing on the menu. Order it for lunch with a shared appetizer and you will not be hungry. Service was slow and unfriendly, but the amazing view and convenience factor made up for it. Also, there are two restrooms for a fairly large number of tables, so if you have to use the facilities, do not wait until the last minute. You will most definitely be waiting in a line. I think this might be the first yelp review I have mentioned the bathroom facilities, but if you are consuming quite a few drinks and you have a small bladder like mine, this might be an issue for you. read more

Woot woot for Gumbo Limbo! I feel silly saying that as I didn't actually have any gumbo, but oh well - they get thumbs up for service, ambiance and food all the same. After deciding that I MUST get outside for my quick lunch stop during a recent work trip, I pleasantly settled into a chair out on their deck with an unobstructed view of the Gulf. Not that much could really go wrong from this point - 85 degrees + beach + sunshine in November when home is Denver? We were off to a good start. The server was prompt, attentive and friendly...everything you'd expect of a Ritz employee. The first tacos were already looking pretty tasty, but after his recommendation - I was sold...and yum! It was just the right amount of food too - enough that you walked away full, but not so much that you knew you wouldn't be eating dinner that evening. I really liked the deconstructed format so you control how much fish, slaw, or salsa you wanted in each taco. The roasted tomatillo salsa was surprisingly uber tasty! When you mix the Ritz Carlton and waterfront dining, it doesn't get more perfect. The appetizers are a very decent size, almost a meal in themselves! My favorite is the chips with fresh salsa and guacamole. The menu changes often, but consistently contains fresh seafood, poultry, and huge burgers! In all honesty, I always get the house salad with shrimp or chicken. It is somewhat pathetic to order a salad at this restaurant, but all of the ingredients are so fresh! Just be aware that they do no take reservations, so it's first come first serve! read more

We headed south on Rt 41 from Bonita Springs and I came up with the following song for my nephew(s): "Trot, trot to Tampa, Trot , trot to Miami Watch out Ollie - there's a million stop lights." OK, so maybe it's not a children's classic. But there should be a children's song about restaurant hostesses that lie on the phone (ahem, Turtle Club) Long story short, the wait was much longer than anticipated and we end up walking along the beach toward the Ritz. Thankfully we happen upon the Gumbo Limbo, which in nature is a tree, but at the fancy-pants Ritz it's a restaurant best described a trust-fund-baby casual. You can wear sandals and shorts to this outdoor restaurant, but it's still the Ritz-Carlton and everything is priced accordingly. The deck is a cool spot to see the sun set from what I hear. The service was excellent, as were the frozen cocktails (I tried Trouble in Paradise). We also spit the Lobster Quesadilla which I liked a lot. My meal was OK - the salmon wasn't fishy but it was underwhelming in terms of flavor. Not a very bold dish. I think the winner was the Sweet and Sour Bass which my brother ordered. Overall, everyone seemed pleased. There are approximately a billion or so restaurants in SWF, and many of them are excellent. I am in no rush to go back despite excellent service from our waitress and the pleasant atmosphere. If you didn't get my little song, Rt 41 is called "Tamiami" which isn't Seminole for Concrete Jungle. It means Tampa-to-Miami. (Do they sing Trot, Trot to Boston in Florida?) read more

Went here while staying at the Ritz-Carlton. Eating lunch by the beach is a great way to spend the afternoon. This restaurant overlooks the water and is right by the beach....a great place to see the sunset. There is of course, a relaxing feel, eating and drinking by the beach, feeling the breeze.........I wish I was there now. I luved this little restaurant. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and I luved walking through the bridges to it as I heard the sounds of little wildlife living around the area. Now for the food. We had the coconut shrimp. Which came inside a half of a small little coconut, so cute, and it was delicious! It came with a marmalade dipping sauce which was sweetly refreshing. For our main dish we had the cheeseburgers with fruit salad. The burgers were pretty good. After lunch we headed for the beach.. it was the perfect afternoon. I highly recommend this restaurant, even if you are not staying at the Ritz you should check it out. read more

My husband got the ribs, I got the burger, and my son got the kids chicken fingers, everything was delicious! The ribs were full of flavor and fall off the bone good. My burger was perfectly cooked and the perfect amount of seasoning. When you got good ground beef you can taste it in ever bite. I took a bite of my sons chicken tenders and boy it was so juicy. So I feel like a whiney kid lol... This place was far to crowded for the waiters to be super attentive but mine was! So why the two stars? MY FOOD! I ordered a conche chowder which was very good. I also ordered a $20 hamburger that was burnt (I asked for medium) and heavily charred. I couldn't even finish it. My waiter was kind enough to offer another one which I declined. He was also kind enough to pull it from my bill. Thanks bud! Again so why the two starts? I got extremely sick! This impacted my last night at the Ritz! :/ I had to buy a little $7 pepto bismal at the gift shop. So to recap 5 stars for the server and would have been 5 stars if I didn't get sick! Amazing location. Absolutely stunning views and a fun tree house/fort-type design. Unfortunately, the design and views are really the only reason worth coming to Gumbo Limbo. To say the food was "okay" would be the greatest compliment. Between multiple appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and tacos, we tried a wide mix of the menu and were disappointed with everything...with the exception of the wings which were pretty good. The meal was incredibly bland and extremely overpriced. Skip the food and come here to enjoy a few strong mai tais and the views, before heading back to the beach or pool to realize how lucky you are to be at the Ritz...and how lucky you are to see this review and save money on eating terrible food! read more

I wanted to catch the sunset & I was told "sorry we are closed by an older woman/waitress" disappointed, I head back down walk way to hotel, the chef is walking towards me.. " hi was your meal good?" I said I wish.. they said its closed. He said " no... come with me.." he re-directed me to the patio, sit where you'd like, what to drink? You stay as long as you want" HE MADE MY EVENING!!! That is what The Ritz is known for... impeccable service. That woman was ready to get out of there but the chef went the extra mile. Ill never forget him & look fwd to seeing him soon. Went to this location with 4 of us. All agreed that our meals were less than average. Confused on what would justify their ridiculously high prices. Is it because they are situated at the Ritz Carlton beach front?, perhaps. But, let me tell you the food was no better than your local sports pub, plus the portions were incredibly small. We had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant yesterday! The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great too because you can sit and each lunch while looking at the beach waves come in. We started off with some chips and guacamole, which was delicious. We also ordered a delicious wedge salad and a cheeseburger! Both options were excellent. I would also recommend the grouper sandwich. Staff were very friendly and they even offered towels to make us more comfortable since it was chilly outside. Wonderful place to dine! I was excited to eat here but I was not impressed at all, especially for the price! I preferred a grouper sandwich and it was raw. I asked for it blackened and it seemed like they cooked it and then put the seasoning on top. It was disgusting. My daughters got burgers and they were greasy and the fries were cold. The service was ok, the server never came back to check on us or I would have told her my sandwich was not eatable. When picking up the plates they didn't even ask if everything was ok. Love this location & the menu, albeit small, most items I have had here are good. Drinks are also good & just right. Staff is friendly & helpful with recommendations.
