I used Gulliver's the year before to move into a 2 bedroom apt. so since I had the same amount of stuff, he quoted me almost the same price. I called them back because it made sense they were already familiar with my stuff and I had a few large items that they struggled with but got them in. I was moving out of the apartment to a ranch house, this time, with no steps. On moving day my son and I noticed that things were moving at a very slow pace. It took much longer to get the truck packed than the last time. In addition, they could not get the entertainment center out and said they would have to leave it behind. After getting unloaded at the new house (and leaving screws behind so they couldn't put the DR table together for me), Joe went out to the apartment to survey the piece they couldn't move out. He insisted that they didn't move it in and I said no, in fact your guys did move it in. So it should come back out. He proceeded to bring a couple different crews over to see if anyone had ideas on how to remove it. He said I would probably have to saw it up. He brought out a refinisher who said he could take the molding off the top and cut off the legs and with my permission they would then be able to move it. I agreed because I had no other options and certainly my landlord didn't want it. He said it would cost me 350.00 to put it back together. I talked him down about 100.00... but still! After cutting it up, they delivered it, also damaging the apartment entry chair rail as they shoved it out. The story goes on and on and is long and convoluted. I am keeping it brief. Bottom line is I had many issues. That was not the only thing. They forgot to load my stuff in the basement storage and he charged me a few hundred dollars more than the original quote because it took x amount of hours more than he anticipated. Their 'professional' moving crew 'forgot' straps or ropes even though they were sent the instructions/contract TWICE for the loading of all my goods into a trailer on site in West Chester. The owner admited this was the case via email. This mistake cost me $1000's in moving overcharges and broken treasures (art and antiques) I will never be able to replace. My experience is similar to one below. Mover's very friendly but terrible management of the business. My wife and I moved from Hyde Park to Madeira, a very short move and out of a 3 bedroom home. We were quoted at 2,000 for the move. After the job was completed the bill went up to 3,000. I explained to Joe that was a 50% miss in the estimate! He was very unhelpful and we ended up paying 800 dollars more than quoted. I would not recommend this moving company. The protection that was put down in my house by the movers was also sub par. Hire a real professional company. read more

Editing review due to updated experience: after speaking with Joe, a restoration expert was sent to my home to fix my shelf. He did an amazing job! I can't tell it was ever broken. In addition to sending the expert, Joe personally delivered flowers to our home and refunded the money we tipped the movers. While he didn't have to do either of the last two things, I can't say enough how much I appreciate his effort to make things right. This is why I paid a premium price to have my household moved. Original experience: Itook a recommendation and hired this company. I spent $2000 to move my three bedroom household five miles. Several pieces of furniture were knocked and scratched, but the worst thing was my antique shelf. Settling in takes time, so five weeks after our move I went to put my shelf on the wall to discover it broken in the basement, placed there by the movers. The shelf has been in my family for several generations and now it is ruined. The worst part? The movers hid it instead of being honest and forthright. read more

I've used Gulliver's Movers twice now and both times have gone incredibly well. Our first move was from apartments in the same complex in the winter was on a morning when everything was iced over. They were ready with salt to make the walkways safe and moved as quickly and safely as they could. Our next move meant a 25 mile ride for our belongings. They wrapped, packed, and delivered all our furniture with expertise. We did notice any damage. You will be charged for the wrapping and packing material, but it is a fair price to pay for expert delivery. Went with the best-reviewed movers, worth it especially being close to the prime moving season of end of July and early August, thought I'd have to change moving days, ended up I did and wasn't a problem. I wish I could remember the name of the young man that was the foreman of the team that loaded our Uhaul. He and his team were FANTASTIC. We had a horrible horrible experience with a (unknowing to us till it was too late) moving broker the day before and were stranded with no movers in the middle of our relocation from Cincy to Denver. I was thinking could anyone be worse than a cable company? Yes, movers. These guys completely changed my mind. A team of three strong, polite, and most importantly professional, men loaded our ~1200 sq ft apartment in just under 3 hours with minor wall scrapes.(we have a narrow stairway last movers that put our things in the apt, took chucks out of the wall) Only small critique, not just for them but the moving industry in general, text an eta to your customers. It's a lot of hurry up and wait for us and knowing someone cares enough to update you on their arrival status makes the customer feel really appreciated/valued. 4.5 stars from me! Purchased a dining room set from an on-line auction. Never having done that before, I had no idea how to get it from Ohio to Wyoming! I called Gulliver's Movers, and Joe and his people went and got my items the next day, packaged them all up on a pallet, and made some suggestions how to ship to me. He told me he was a "problem solver", and he was! Completely friendly and professional- and my things arrived safely and well-packaged. (Ok, enroute the pallet tipped over, but that's another story, and I don't think it's anything to do with Joe.) Great movers!!! James and Cody did a great job. We were moving some furniture from my mom's house to our house....leather sofa, leather chair, table, full bedroom set, etc. They took furniture apart as needed (ie dresser w mirror, hutch w shelves, etc). They wrapped everything in heavy blankets and taped the blankets on. They also put blankets and fabric on the floor where they walked to keep the carpets clean. And they move fast while still enduring a quality job. Super friendly, courteous, professional and helpful. Everything got moved with no damage to the furniture or houses. They changed the price on me by raising it $300 after previously quoting something else. This was a dining room furniture set we were dealing with not an entire house move. They are so knowledgeable; the owner was able to give me a "rough" idea of how much time and money I was looking at from a house he hadn't even seen yet, and in the end he was dead on. I wanted to give my 2 cents on the Gullivers movers. I read all the reviews of a bunch of movers and they had very good reviews. I took a chance and had them move me 30 miles. Everything went so well, from the guy who came out to give me estimate of my move and told me 3 guys would come in a medium sized truck and that's what happened. They did such a great job the 3 guys who came I bought them pizza for lunch and they were very nice, funny, strong and took care of all my stuff. no damage or any probs with my move. I really appreciate having the whole day go so smooth and cost was right and came out to what they told me it would. thank you . I hired Gulliver's to wrap my furniture and help me pack a U-Pack truck for me. When I called to get a quote, Joe, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. The movers themselves were great. They were friendly, worked efficiently, wrapped everything up very well, and managed to use up less space than I thought I would need (only used 6' of truck instead of the 7' I reserved). They took more time than I had originally thought they would, but their price was very fair and actually came in below the estimate. Those guys were great. The only complaint I had with this company was the business management. I was on a tight schedule, so about half an hour before the movers were scheduled to arrive, I called the company to make sure everything was still set up and on time. I spoke to Joe, and he told me they should be on time or a few minutes late at most. A half hour after the appointment time had passed, they still had not arrived, so I called again, mainly to see if there was any major delay and if I needed to reschedule the pickup of my U-Pack truck. As soon as I told him my name, he cut me off and started yelling into the phone that "I TOLD you we switched the appointment to a half hour LATER, they'll get there when they get there, ALRIGHT?!" and then hung up on me. We hadn't agreed to switch the appointment a half hour later, I wasn't upset or yelling into the phone, and I wasn't calling every five minutes, it was an hour after I had called before, so he had no reason to blow up on me. A few minutes after that unpleasant call, I got a call from the movers telling me that they'd be another 45 minutes to an hour before they came. Like I said before, when they finally did show up, they were great. Overall, I would give the movers 5 stars and the management 1 star, and average it to 3. I realize it's the high season and you're busy and probably stressed out, but mismanaging your employees so they show up over an hour late is not good, and freaking out and yelling at a customer over the phone when he has the audacity to wonder where they are is unprofessional. But the movers were great and did a good job, so I can't fault them too much. If you book them, just leave a large window of time and don't bother calling to check where they are if they don't come on time. read more

Honest, hard working group of guys who went the extra mile to carefully pack a MASSIVE "Butler's Cabinet- type" antique piece. Joe & movers were patient when they realized 4 guys were needed instead of 2. Price went up a bit, but, again, the piece was HUGE! All 4 guys worked great as a team, all 4 kept busy, cleaned up any debris left at both sites & remained upbeat despite a monkey wrench being thrown in their busy day. My family has used Gulliver's Movers several times, and we have always been very pleased with their services.

I hired Gulliver's Movers to package all my furniture and move it into long-term storage in May 2010. I recently moved all the items out and into a new home. When I began unpacking the locker I realized several items looked as though they had simply been thrown across the top or jammed into a corner. As a result almost all pieces of padded fabric furniture (love seats, sofa, etc.) have large indentations that I doubt will ever fully come out. Then as I began just moving wooden furniture into the storage facility's hallway (I was sorting what went to my new home and what was to be donated) I realized that EVERY SINGLE piece of wooden furniture has at least one smashed corner, and that packing tape had been applied directly to the wood in many cases causing the finish to rip off when removed. I have moved several times over the last ten years and I have never witnessed such extensive furniture damage. I am truly in awe at how they managed to damage in one way or another every piece of furniture (not to mention the numerous broken items once I opened the boxes...they were also paid large amounts of money to pack and move these). What makes the damage even more infuriating is that Gullivers Movers showed up with and charged me for seven movers to pack and move me out of a one-bedroom condo when I had requested three. There were so many movers they could not all manage to do something at the same time because there was not enough hallway/condo space. I was also charged (which typically I would be fine with) hundreds of dollars of protective furniture material which turned out to be recycled cardboard boxes (I am all about reusing) that weren't big enough to actually cover and protect my furniture. read more
