The main problem I have with Guitar Center is the solid fact I've faced that 9 out of 10 times, they don't have the products I'm looking for and they claim they can order it. They tell me how many days it will take to arrive at the store, and Amazon always beats them by 2 or 3 days delivered to my door. I would rather support the music store but their stock is always "Not Available in store." I can't tell you how many times I've looked for specific strings, drum brackets, pots, speakers...and on & on. I get they're not catering to the professional musician, but it sure would be nice to have a more high end feel to the shopping experience. It's more of a toy store for kids with the generic basic products. But alas, they're like the only game in town these days...so the struggle to get quality, fine tuned gear continues. read more

Everything went well here. Everything always does! After finding what I wanted, I cashed out with my card and walked out to my car, where I heard my name called as I clicked my door open so I set my stuff down on my car seat and turned to see who called me. Sitting in his car parked right next to me was a gentleman whom I hadn't seen in many, many moons! ...and he works there at East Hospitality Guitar Center! That was a nice surprise! Last time I went to guitar center there was a biological female yelling at my 70 year old dad to get out of the seats in the lessons area. He needed a place to sit and doesn't normally go into guitar center. Rather than offer him another area where he could sit she got angry with him. It felt like a dominance issue. Plus, Dustin who would set up my guitars no longer works there and the selection of guitars has definitely downgraded. Even the Gibson's they have are no longer made in the USA. they are mostly, like 90% of the selection, is all manufactured equipment. the customer service has downgraded. Selection has downgraded and My favorite person to work on my guitars no longer works there. One guy named LA Jones had a bad attitude. And honestly, I truly believe it's Corporates fault. They don't care about their workers enough to keep them motivated. I started playing guitar when this location was still off of hospitality lane in San Bernardino and I've watched the guitar center change from helping both customer and employee to only caring about it's profit rather than the people who shop and work there. I don't recommend this place anymore like I used to. And now I have to find someone else to work on my guitars because guitar center just sucks at hiring the right people who genuinely care nor do they care enough about their own employees to have less of a turn over in workers who have amazing customer service and sales skills. I walked into the store asking the front service if he could send someone over to electronics to help me. His name was Reggie and was very rude, he brushed me off with a remark saying, "can you see that I am busy I'll be right over when I'm finished." I looked at him in shock because of his attitude and I am the customer. I kindly said, "no worries, it doesn't have to be you, but if you can page someone to come help me." Reggie talked over me by raising his voice and said, "I told you I'll be right over there when I'm done!" I asked who is the manger and Reggie gave me a dirty look. I asked again who is the manager and he rudely responded saying "Arron" is the manager and I asked where can I find him, then Reggie pointed to a corner location. I found Arron and I told him about Reggie's attitude and it seemed as if they are friends because he proceeded to ignore me and wanted to see what I wanted in the store; meaning what I needed help with. Arron ignored the fact i told him about Reggie's attitude. I repeated myself twice and said are you going to do anything about it. Arron was obligated to give me the phone number and name of the actual manager of the store. I asked for the real managers name to whom I make the complaint and "Arron" stated that he didn't want to write his name down. I grabbed the pen myself and I asked Arron one last time to give me the managers information and gave me the name finally; Chris. I asked Arron what Chris's last name was and he didn't tell me. This is very unprofessional on both Reggies actions as a representative for the store and Arron's unprofessionalism belittling the issue and not wanting to give out the managers full name. Reggie then smirked while behind the desk and I said you can smirk all you want I will make a complaint on your actions, and makes me question the authority of training. read more

I love this music store. I see a lot of people saying they weren't greeted or approached by an employee, and honestly, I prefer it that way. I also feel like the people leaving nasty reviews here probably don't play guitar. I mostly come in just to jam and have fun.On the rare occasion an employee does approach me, it's almost always a positive experience. For example, one time an employee corrected how I was playing something, which was helpful. Another time, an employee complimented my bass playing and even gave me a discount on a pedal I bought.I'm docking one star, though, because one employee sat next to me (which was weird) and told me I should check out their lessons. They asked if I was a beginner, which I'm not--I just injured my wrist and couldn't play for a few weeks. It was a bit awkward, but overall, I still enjoy this store. read more

I went to replace an Audio Technica receiver that went out after 1.5 years, find a receiver for new microphones, and get a solution for another microphone issue. After waiting and tracking an associate that was chatting it up with someone and ignoring me. They had little advice and poor solutions. I can understand that. However, after leaving me there twindling my thumbs for 20 minutes and helping other customers without a word is poor communication and customer service. And, it happened a second time with a different associate. If they can't help problem solve and need to order everything then what's the point of going to a store anymore. I have been a customer of Guitar Center for over 30 years and have probably spent over $30,000 in that time. I went into buy an amp and found a used one I liked. I tested it all out, etc. I could not buy it and take it home because of GC's business practice to try to pre-sell gear that may or not have been stolen. Fine, there's a law about selling gear like this. That is not the issue. The issue is a common-sense business practice: you don't sell products on the floor and then prevent customers from purchasing it. If they were smart, they'd wait until the gear cleared background checks before it goes on the floor for sale. The management is helpless and clueless about doing business the right way. I'm never shopping at any Guitar Center again and will tell everyone to go elsewhere. These people are borderline criminals themselves. Completely asinine with zero business sense whatsoever. You cannot justify stupidity. Stay away from these morally questionable stores. The people may just be drones and doing their job, and it's not their fault per se. But someone with business sense needs to take over. It's not hard. read more

My JBL PRX 1 speaker was blown, Sage was able to help with finding my plan information and got me in contact with the correct individuals to help process my claim. I visited a few other locations and the team in San Bernardino are above the rest when it comes to customer service. If you need any help with DJ or live sound/ lighting, the team here will provide the best service to help you with your purchase. Poor customer service, untrained staff,seems like they're guessing for answers when asked questions. inadequate managers that do not answer or return phone calls. It's no surprise when I see stores closing their doors forever. Eventually, people get frustrated by lack of effort & service and end up shopping online. Spoke with Sage Sunday morning, told me he'd call back to let me know what happened with my order. THIRTY HOURS LATER!!!, still waiting for Sage to call me back . Called him twice the following day but he never picked up the phone. Left on hold for over 15 minutes without anyone picking up to say please continue to hold. I Told the guy that told me he's just a salesperson to cancel my ticket, and believe me, he was more than happy to do so, just so the problem would go away. The salesperson did not try for one second to save the sale. Sage (Assistant Store Manager) at the San Bernardino store lost a $3000 sale because (1) he couldn't find a way to email my phone order receipt and provide me with a tracking number. C(2) Could not return my phone call (3) Would not answer the telephone when I called. I never write reviews but this SUCKS!! You can't make this stuff up!!! This Guitar Center has a terrible sale staff that hone to terrible customer service. I have more of a reason to continue shopping locally at my local music store, but I needed something at the moment so I stopped by at mere convenience. I stopped by late in the evening to pickup a few string packs and other essentials. Yes it may not be a commission winning purchase but the employees here put anyone who they aren't helping with a huge purchase on the back burner. There were two customers waiting aside from myself at the checkout counter and not one single employee made the effort to handle the register or call someone over to get everyone checked out. All of the staff at this location are super helpful and very professional. My daughters instructor is named Mario and he's awesome. Once upon a time there was a wonderful place called Guitar Center. It was well run, and staffed by knowledgeable guys who were fun to visit at work. I established many good contacts and purchased thousands of dollars worth of guitars, amplifiers, effects, straps, strings, extension cabinets and music books. Circa 2002-2007 was the heyday at this location in San Bernardino. Then, a decline set in. Corporate greed and shameless pandering for incentives by employees marked the end of the negotiations and good deals for regulars whether or not they spent small fortunes. What happened? The stock seemed to diminish, the brands and choices got less diverse, and the glass sound room became an expensive display case rather than the audition room it once was. Today I wandered in to see if there was anything in the used section. While I saw some decent gear there's an annoying ordinance enforced that says when the item can actually be purchased or leave the store. Why even display it if I cannot leave with it the same day? That definitely saved me $300 plus tax today. I don't want to wait until mid June! Overall the store has lost the lustre it once had. I buy a lot online from Sweetwater who has free shipping and no tax. I will occasionally bring my instruments in for repairs, however, if I cannot figure it out for myself. For advanced musicians it's more miss than hit, but novices can find good values here and sadly, that's the decline of the old fashioned guitar shop. They never have enough people working at one time. Bring rung up or getting any sort of assistance takes forever and you have to seek out employees to help you. They're constantly out of stock on drum accessories; the selection on drumheads is also very poor. Only thing this place has going for it is the nice workers. read more

My son took piano lessons at this location. I trusted them with my credit card information to debit the amount every month. I never really checked my statements but after a few months I found out that they have double charged me for one month. I brought it to their attention and Yolanda who is the manager for lessons completely ignored me and said they can't go back more than few months and my bank said the same thing. They stole my money. Never apologized and didn't even give me credit for my son to take more piano lessons. If you take classes with them make sure they don't double charge you. Very disappointing read more

I really had high expectations because I dealt with Regina. Regina was so friendly and helpful. She helped us set up an appointment for our son to meet his music teacher. We also dropped off our guitar to get restrung. We were under the impression that the repair guy was going to start it that day. So we thought we would be able to pick it up. When we meet the music teacher. 2 hours before our appointment with the music teacher. We get a call from the repair guy named L.A. His tone was already unpleasant from the begining of our call. He asked so you want it restrung yes that is correct. Ok then it will be 30 dollars oh I mean like 36. I said ok so it will be done when I get there tonight right. NO! I won't until tomorrow and if they told you it would be done sooner then they lied! They don't know my work load and neither do you! So I said no Thanks I will take my guitar some where else to get restrung. He said Fine and hung up! So we got ready and got to guitar center at 6:18pm. We picked up guitar from repair guy L.A. Meet instructor was set for 6:30 pm. We are waiting it's a few passed 6:30pm. No instructor so I asked the nice gentleman working the door. Hey my son was suppose to meet an instructor for music lessons. He pointed me to the manager of the music lessons. Now she said the instructor wasn't coming in. She didn't apologize or seem like it was a big deal that they wasted my time and disappointed my son! Horrible customer service because there isn't any! But I'm glad we know that they are not reliable at all! very disappointed stay away from here total waste of time! read more
