Too notch service. My bass had intonation issues and string rattle when it went in, and now it plays perfect. Thank you Ben!

If you are lucky enough in life, you run into an amazing professional who inspires you and…read moreencourages you to grow. In this case, there are two of them: Tommy Davy of djangoguitars.com and Stephen R. Davy of davy-violins.com. This father son dynamic duo of luthier/musicians is absolutely the best of the best, recognized worldwide for their skill and talent. Of course they are knowledgeable. What may be less known to people is just how welcoming, down to earth, and helpful they are when you work with them - no matter what your level or ability. I have been a professional musician on and off for over thirty years. Admittedly, it has been more off than on for the last decade (plus). I am trying to learn the difficult and ornate Manouche Jazz style of guitar made famous by Django Reinhardt (which Tommy specializes in). It's still very early for me in this pursuit. In short, as a client, I'm the worst of two worlds... I'm super rusty AND a newbie! But, that didn't matter to Tommy and Stephen Davy. They treated me with the utmost respect and professionalism from first contact via text messages through to well after the sale and work being done. They treated me like I was a pro who just walked in off tour and needed an instrument and adjustment. They weren't worried about my level except to help assess the best instrument to get me into and music suggestions. Thanks to Tommy, I now have a beautiful new acoustic jazz guitar. He also set it up and has since checked up on whether or not I've been happy with it since I bought it. And, thanks to Stephen, my son's beautiful violin and bow are now playing better than ever and we are enjoying our home music making, anew! Thanks, gentlemen! It is a pleasure to know you. I look forward to buying my next guitar from Tommy. I already have it picked out.

What…read moremakes this store different from a guitar center or any other music store is the experience, yes they have quality gypsy jazz guitars from all price ranges, but when you buy a guitar here Tommy will professionally set it up, unlike any run of the mill music store. When it comes to normal stores they will just hand you a unfinished guitar. The whole experience at DjangoGuitars.com was great! Stephen also helped me decide and made it clear what guitar to get when it came to buying them. Then Tommy professionally adjusted the Frets, added a new hardware, adjusted the bridge and many more services you would not get out of a regular guitar store. If you are looking at getting a gypsy jazz guitar I recommend going here. There is no reason not to go here. If you are not buying a guitar here you are losing money; going here was like winning the lottery, you get good service great people, great prices and a new guitar. Thanks to Stephen and Tommy!! -Dariush Shirazi

After looking at reviews of several shops that do setups, I settled on James Hood. The experience was great. As soon as I had an initial conversation at their shop, I felt confident they knew what they were doing. The turn-around was quick, the cost is very competitive and the setup is perfection. They will be my go-to for any of my bass repairs/setups. Check 'em out-you won't be disappointed.

I brought in my Taylor K24ce, and I also left my Taylor GS Mini that day for a neck reset. At drop-off, the front desk tech assured me the low E buzz on the K24ce would be addressed and handled as part of the standard setup. Both guitars stayed with them for nearly two weeks. I called a few times since I wasn't getting updates, and eventually was told both were ready for pickup. After driving 30 miles, I tested them in the shop. The GS Mini was done well--I could see an improvement in the neck, and I appreciated that. But when I took out my K24ce, it wasn't tuned or wiped down properly. After I tuned it, the exact same low E buzz was still there. How could that go unnoticed, I wondered--had the guitar been played after it was tuned, they would have then noticed the buzz and should have informed me by email, rather than having me come all the way down. I mentioned it to the owner, and he took the guitar to the back for about 10 minutes. When he returned, he told me that if I wanted to leave it, I'd need to pay another $90 for a deeper inspection, since it might be a more technical issue. The tech who reassured me at drop-off was right there but didn't say a word. It was close to the end of working hours, so I figured James would just have me leave it at no cost. When he didn't, I didn't feel comfortable leaving it again. I really expected a more thorough check right then or at least a suggestion to leave it at no cost. After all, I 100% mentioned the buzz to the tech at drop-off. In the end, my K24ce is my primary instrument--it's the one I rely on most--while the GS Mini is just a backup. I ended up paying close to $400 for both the setup and the neck reset. The GS Mini was done well, but the whole experience left me feeling like I spent $400 just to fix a $600 GS Mini, while my main guitar's issue was never resolved. Considering all the time, effort, cost, and travel, I really expected a full assessment and clearer communication before it was marked complete. I've attached a video so you can hear the buzz yourself.
