I've always wanted to learn and play guitar... I first picked-up a guitar when I was 20 years old (year 2000) and at that age lessons seemed impossible because I didn't have a steady income and Youtube had not started. Sure enough after 6-7 months due to school and work I put it in storage never to see it again. Up until last year (May 2018) I came across my old acoustic and decided that now at 37 years old I should finally accomplish this goal. I did some research and went with another instructor that I did not seem to connect with nor did the lessons seem to be what I was looking for and I seemed kind of lost. I came across Candelas Guitars and met Loretta, Kenneth and Tomas; I liked the way I was welcomed and I sensed the connection that I was looking for. I started my lessons with Kenneth in August 2018 and I am learning the way that I always wanted to. Almost a year later I am still here and the more I listen to classical guitar and the genres that play this instrument the more I love it with a passion. If you seem lost and don't know where to start I highly recommend you start here. You are never too old to pick-up an instrument. You owe it to yourself to accomplish this long-term goal

I have taken guitar lessons from others before Candelas but never have I learned how to really play the guitar with technique like I've learned with Candela's teacher Kenneth. My boyfriend Mike and I have a great time taking lessons from Kenneth because his methods are fun and easy to understand. Plus the space at Candela's Guitar feels inspiring to learn and become great musicians! Thank you Kenneth and Candela's Guitar shop! I would recommend this place to all my friends and family...to anyone :)

Me and the best classical guitar maestro in Southern California Kenneth Del Rio at Candelas Guitars. Highly recommend!

Best instrument repair shop around town with a long history. They replaced my bass strings perfectly. I 100% recommend.

However, after about a month of playing, the C string just came unwound out of nowhere. The nylon coil separated from the nylon core. I emailed them and got a response pretty fast. Jacob said they would send me a replacement string ASAP. I got it Within a couple days. This is my first time purchasing Guadalupe Strings and I'd buy them again just for the customer service.

I contacted them to let them know what had happened, and they blamed me, they said I didn't know how to change the strings, that my instrument was to blame, that other "professional" musicians like myself didn't know how to change strings ( they referred me to a youtube video) and they didn't accept that their product was defective. I bought two sets of strings (over priced), two strings broke, and i had to mix and match from both sets to get one complete set. I wasn't asking for my money back or a new free set, i was only letting them know that their product had problems, and they were very very rude, mocking me, and blaming me for the low quality of their strings. I'm never buying from them again, i can find better quality strings anywhere else, better priced, and with better customer service.

I sold my LTD ST-213 guitar to them for $250, assuming that was a fair reflection of its market value based on how it was presented to me at the time. However, shortly after, I saw the same guitar listed for $458. While I understand that businesses need to make a profit, this kind of markup--without any clear explanation upfront--feels misleading. At no point during the transaction did anyone clearly explain how their pricing works, what margin they typically apply, or what my guitar might realistically sell for on the used market. Had I been given that information, I would have made a more informed decision or at least understood the trade-off between convenience and payout. The issue here isn't just the resale price--it's the lack of full disclosure. Customers deserve transparency when they're selling valuable gear, especially when there's such a significant gap between the buy price and resale price. Overall, the experience left me feeling like I wasn't given the full picture. I would strongly recommend that anyone selling gear here do their own research beforehand and ask very specific questions about resale value and pricing structure before agreeing to a deal.

This company is extremely friendly and attentive only when you are about to spend money. The moment…read morethe sale is complete and you need warranty support or a return, the entire attitude changes. When buying, everything moves fast. They are responsive, helpful, and eager to assist. But when an issue comes up and you try to use the warranty or request a return, you are suddenly treated like an inconvenience. There is no real effort to listen or help resolve the situation. Instead, the response becomes dismissive "call the number" and essentially don't bother us. For a business that sells professional equipment, this is unacceptable. Warranty support is not optional customer service it is part of the product people are paying for. If a company cannot stand behind what they sell, then customers should know that before they buy. What makes this worse is the clear contrast in treatment. When they want your money, they are quick, friendly, and attentive. When you need help after the sale, the professionalism disappears completely. It leaves the impression that the goal is simply to close the sale and move on, not to actually support the customers who invested their money in their equipment. Anyone considering purchasing here should think carefully, especially if you expect real support after the sale. If you never need warranty service, you might not notice the problem. But if something goes wrong, be prepared for a very different experience than the one you received when they were trying to sell to you. This has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've had with a professional equipment supplier. I will not be doing business with this company again, and I would strongly caution others before trusting them with your money.
