I primarily work with vintage (pre-1965) instruments, so I was unfortunately accustomed to waiting patiently for the trusted, old-guard guys to get around to doing whatever it was. It was usually done well, but not always. It was essentially a gamble on time and quality. I would live with small issues and abbreviated playability sometimes due to the stress and time involved in taking something in for work. Emerson has showed a level of skill, excitement and timely but never rushed turnaround that I can only describe as perfect. Communication didn't feel reluctant, the work was done methodically, completely and with all options (even ones I didn't think of) conveyed concisely. I'm going on about this because these are the "rubs" I felt I was running into with others that were seemingly just kinda burned out on working on guitars. A quick side note: Please take care of this resource!!! Emerson is an extremely valuable commodity if having your instrument(s) in the best order is of value to you! I have enjoyed getting so much more done/ fixed on guitars in the last year, ranging from having small, highly specific electronics work dialed in, subtle but very noticeable fretwork done to big fixes/ refretts and total overhaul projects. Then I contacted U-Space, what a refreshing change of pace. It was a far drive so I started with an email exchange where Jason took the emailed info and built me a custom list of Ukuleles to review. I was sent a youtube video to hear them all too. I made an appointment and took the drive to their location. Jason and Petrice were so welcoming and had all the instruments I wanted to see ready to go and in tune. I played them all and a couple more and asked questions and went back and forth and the whole time Jason and Petrice were supportive and wanted me to find the exact right one for me. And I did, I walked out with a beautiful solid wood mahogany Ukulele, no frills just quality sound with a lovely tone. I can not recommend U-Space enough. They had the exact discontinued model that I had been pining after! Not only did they make my dreams come true, they drove it right to me! Delivered it right into my hands! Oh, and it should be worth noting that they didn't even push me to buy the nicer ukulele -- they said that they could restring my Amazon starter uke and that would probably be enough of an upgrade for a wee beginner like me. You may find some of their guitars at Guitar Salon International in Santa Monica. Armand is the go-to associate for any questions. I like to reach out via email and I appreciate his responsiveness. I would 100% recommend coming here for any classical guitar strings because their prices are better than any big brand store. They are cash only but they do not charge tax when I picked up strings. About 4 years ago I purchased an L.R. Baggs acoustic guitar pickup system and they helped install the hardware. I brought my guitar in to have a back buzz issue checked out and Armand found that there were erroneous vibrations coming from the sound board by the pickup system. Seemed to be a loose wire buzzing against the sound board. They kept at it and resolved the issue for me and I could not be more appreciative of their service so here's a 5 star review. I have owned 3 GV Rubio's over the years. Two of them were Hauser models and one was an Elite…read more All three were absolutely pristine in fit and finish. I purchased a new 2025 Estudio which I received less than a year ago and it arrived with the following issues right out of the guitar case: - 2 gouges on the first fret of the fingerboard, under the second treble string. - Many finish cracks on the rosette and light colored sapwood (Bank and Sides). - Where the neckwood and fingerboard wood meet, on the treble side, does not have a completely smoothed out finish. I contacted GV Rubio's business, via Armand Arnazzi, describing the issues I had and did not get any response. I have never had this type of treatment before with past purchases. Quality control for GV Rubio's classical guitars would seem to be non-existent at this point in time and I would recommend avoiding GV Rubio as a custom classical guitar luthier. Needless to say I will not be purchasing any other custom classical guitars from GV Rubio and I also will pass on this information to friends and family in the music community.
