Mo replaced pickups on 3 guitars, 2 fake strats and a les paul fake. He set them up perfectly and they sound great. One had a conversion from active to passive pickups. I have taken a few basses to Mo with varying issues needing attention. Mo is friendly and does incredible work at a fair price. Each time, I have walked out of the shop confident that my instrument is perfectly repaired and sounds great. Just watching him test them out shows how much better they sound in extremely capable hands. I will be going to Mo whenever another repair is needed. Oh...just be advised that if you are going to him to have any Nordstrand products installed, it is rare that they actually have them there. Quite possibly the best experience I've had in an instrument repair shop. Mo is an extremely friendly and knowledgeable engineer. In the beginning of the pandemic I decided to get back in to playing. I purchased a beautiful custom made bass. Since I was basically limited to a small practice amp inside of my apartment while covid took hold, I never noticed the immense amount of noise coming from that bass. When I finally got studio space and some larger amps, it was obvious there was an issue. You'd think for an instrument of this price range, they would focus on at least making sure the electronics were done properly. I've been surprised more than once with small to medium size companies building beautiful custom gear, but forgetting something as simple as checking phase on speaker cabinet wiring. Mo took everything out. Redid all the shielding. Even added three way toggles and an additional pot just so I could get every pickup combination possible along with tone control even in passive mode. It sounds amazing and the noise is gone. Not only that, he did the work in a matter of hours. The wiring cavity looks ten times cleaner and I now have total confidence that things are installed properly. Mo is a true professional and knowing people that do good work like this actually saves you money in the long run because you're not taking your instruments to ding dongs that don't know what's going on. Truly impressed. He even showed me a simple yet effective tool to determine the polarity on your pickups which is super useful for making sure your pickups are oriented properly. I've been playing bass professionally for over 40 years (yes, I'm that old), including many tours and albums with major artists. Over the years I've had repairs and modifications done on my instruments by some of the most reputable luthiers around (John Carruthers, Mark Lacey, Rick Turner and Roger Giffen, just to name a few) and I can confidently say that no one I've used measures up to Mo as far as level of care, attention to detail and expert craftsmanship. I've had Mo do a couple of fairly serious repair/mods (one was a fretless conversion on a Fender Jazz Bass, the other a pickup and preamp install on a Peavey TL-5). In addition to beautifully performing the work that I requested, Mo had a couple of suggestions on how to go a step or two further to achieve the best result (for example, adding single/coil/series/parallel toggle switches on the Peavey - a very smart and useful idea). In both cases the work was completed quickly and the prices were very fair. I haven't yet brought any guitars to Mo, but I'd wager that his work in that realm is every bit as good as what he can do with basses! read more
