What an outstanding business with incredible staff! A few days ago my sons trumpet keys started to "stick". It happened at the worst time, just before his first of two winter concerts for school. Needless to say, he was in tears during the first concert but I promised him I would do my best to find a place to service/fix his instrument so he could play for his second concert later that week. I took his instrument back to the music store where we purchased it, just six months prior hoping they would know who would fix it...but they said they would need to "send it out" for repair and that it would likely take 6 weeks! When I explained that my son had an upcoming concert, the store clerk suggested "I might have better luck with JKEAA". So I immediately headed to their storefront in Woodcrest (close to where we live). I got their at 2:30pm and the very nice woman working in the store quickly diagnosed the issue with the trumpet and said that her team could fix it same day at their service location across town. Because it was at closing time, she called over to their center and asked them if they would "stay open" till I arrived. I rushed over (10 minutes after close) and their service tech Allen was INCREDIBLY nice and went out of his way to not only fix the instrument right there but also service/clean it as well AND fix a dent my son had made by accident. He was a HERO fixing it quickly so that my son could play in his concert the very next night. It is truly rare to find a business like this one...who has a team who cares about their customers and delivers above and beyond the call of duty. So many staff (not just Allen) went out of their way to help us on this day. None of them were required to do it...they all helped us with an open and willing heart. And in the end they charged me only $24! I couldnt believe it, I would have easily paid $240! I am a super fan of this business. They are awesome! 1000% would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! Although a retired musician, I still play principal clarinet in IE orchestras and give lessons. Suggested by a friend, JKEAA has probably the best repair technicians/musicians I have worked with. Every time I bring my clarinets into the repair facility, I take them home sounding better than they did before. The clarinet tech is a genius with resolutions to problems! Pricing is fair, perhaps a little low considering the quality given. As long as JKEAA is around, they've got a customer in me. read more

It was the day of a big performance and someone had forgotten to pick up a new saxophone reed beforehand. He called multiple chain music shops and almost gave up. I found this place on Yelp, but he didn't have high expectations and thought this was just a small time shop. Much to his surprise, the lady on the phone said Jkeaa does indeed carry the very specific brand, size, and strength when all the other shops we tried didn't have it in stock. Although finding this place definitely saved the day, the reeds were actually about twice the price compared to the large chain store he usually visits. We probably won't return unless a similar situation arises again. But 4 stars for the friendly staff and being able to get what we needed! read more

They provide instrument rentals, sales, and expert inhouse repair, in addition to sheet music, supplies, and lessons of all kinds. They are friendly and knowledgeable, and many of the local schools count on them for repair and rental. Many are the times they repaired an instrument at the last minute so a student would not have to go on the field, street, or stage without sounding their best. My daughter took clarinet lessons with Lewes for about a year. She knew nothing about the instrument and he was a very patient and excellent instructor. My daughter looked forward to coming each week. He was always there and always had an amazing attitude!! I came here a second time to buy guitar strings and I found exactly what I was looking for and they even gave me a discount for buying 2. My wife was looking for a Bach Strad trumpet. This place was the only store that carried several models on hand. This store is about a 1.5 hour drive for use but we made the trip. First impression, it's not a run of the mill instrument store. From what it looked like it seemed that they focused more on renting instruments and lessons. However, they did have a nice selection of professional brass instruments and some guitars. They carried staple accessories for what they sold ranging from cheap to pro level as well. The woman that helped us was awesome. She was polite and showed a legitimate knowledge of the instruments they carried. She gave my wife the two Bach Strads they carried and guided us to a practice room. My wife played both and asked if they had any other models on hand. The (I'm assuming was the owner at this point) woman said she had some more including a Yamaha Xeno but they were at another location. She quickly called her husband and had him bring us two more models. That was amazing of her because my wife would not have found the perfect horn had the other two models not be brought in. Both the woman and her husband were polite, knowledgable and humble. Best experience I've had shopping for an instrument. They weren't prodding or trying to sell us "extra" stuff. They even threw in a couple of gifts with our purchase. I wish we had a place like this at home. The trip was definitely worth it. Would definitely go back if I needed something like this again. On a side note, they were really familiar with our area. They apparently service some of our local schools which was nice. read more

Very disappointed with the customer service I received. Took an instrument in to sell it or to have them consign it for me. Since it's band season I thought they would be happy to have it. Instead I was treated like it was burden to take it in to have the owner take a look at it so it could be valued. Left it anyways thinking the actual owner would be glad to have in time for band season. I'm told they'll call once the owner has a chance to look at it. Over 10 days goes by I hear nothing, so I called in and was told that the owner never looked at it because the person that took it in thought it would be better if I sold it myself. Why didn't he at least show the owner or why didn't he tell me that when I took it in to begin with? why no phone call either way? I'm told the owner is just to busy with repairs and rentals to be bothered. Fine, but tell me that in the beginning. Sad because this is a family owned business that I would think would treat people a little better. Mind you I have supported them with quit a bit of other business in the past as well as referred others. Never again. read more

Update: We had a recent issue with being given much higher pricing on an instrument we rented than initially quoted. However, the manager got involved and, while the price we paid wasn't what we were initially told when we first rented it, the final price that we ended up paying for the instrument was fair. It's a good store. There just needs to be more consistency among the staff so that customers feel that they can trust what they are told. read more

I want to sing my praises to Jkeaa Music! I have four children that has done band and been in music for well over the past 10 plus years. It is my experience with them with my daughter's bass clarinet that is priceless. My daughter's instrument was in bad shape. I mean bad! My first thought was to look into just purchasing a new used one because I thought it was hopeless. However my daughter suggested we try JKEAA music. I've seen them around. I've seen them at field show tournaments and everything. I decided to put it in and "just see" surly it's not going to be worth fixing. I was ready for the bad news. I took it in and Eddie was very helpful. He walked me through the process. He let me know the would send it out to the shop that Monday (it was the weekend when I went) get an estimated proposal and I will be contacted and at that time decide if I want to move forward. I said ok. Again expecting the worse I said so I should hear from them in a week or so. Eddie said not at all, by Monday if not first thing Tuesday. TRUE TO HIS WORD, I got an email and a call from Allen at the repair shop. All was not lost. Not only did he thoroughly explain the problems he provided pictures and answered all of my questions. He too explained the process and broke down the time line if I should so decide to get it done. I mean above and beyond and I haven't committed to anything yet! I said let me think it over a day or so. The estimate was reasonable and the fact that they were so through I was impressed. I called Allen back a couple days later and said ok. He kept good contact and despite me dragging my feet, her instrument was done in just a couple days not even a week from the day of drop off! Jkeaa really has it together! The staff is friendly, they have a true knowledge of their profession and the prices are reasonable! They understand the love of music which makes it so great! So wether you're buying, renting, or repairing I would recommend Jkeaa. My daughter is so happy and I am too. I am so appreciative. The instrument was one thing but what they did... keeping my daughter in mind and what the instrument meant and represented was so much more invaluable. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY! read more

Bought a older conn 6m alto saxophone on line for my daughter who was playing in jazz band in High school. I took it to JKEAA on a referral from a music teacher my daughter had in middle school. The first time I took it to them they seemed knowledgeable and experienced. I had to return it shortly after to have some more "repairs" done with an additional charge. It still didn't play right and I thought it might be my daughter. I had her teacher look at it and he said it was a mess, of course this was about a year later but I spent big $ to get it fixed. I returned it for an additional $300 charge they "fixed" it. My daughter didn't touch it during the summer and when school started back up again more problems. I took it back and told them how much money I had spent and how it never worked right. They said it just needed "minor" adjustments and charged me again to fix it. My daughter played it for a while then her teacher compared it to a cheaper sax and that one sounded better. I took it to a real professional yesterday who said there were multiple problems with it and he guaranteed to get it right. I have also noticed that since Jkeaa has hired a new manager in the last year it's all about money and customer service is second fiddle. I will never go back again. read more
