I ordered a guitar that was not available in store and needed to be shipped. The clerk shared that he had the same guitar. When I pick up my guitar and arrive home, there are missing pieces, and it's missing the kit that comes with it to make adjustments. The worker stole my parts for his own guitar and tried to say I am lying about parts that are literally included on the box and papers inside. Not the brightest bulb in the box. The manager said he did not steal and replaced my parts. Hilarious and indeed a shit show like everyone else has concluded. read more

I have been to this location many many times as it is one of the only music stores with decent prices. I would very much like to purchase items exclusively online to avoid the in store experience, but Im not the kind of person to purchase things based on reviews. Regardless, I have shopped this location a myriad of times, and every time has been such a bummer. I get stares from across the room from nearly all the employees, and am NEVER offered help. So instead I have to play only the guitars within my reach and just prey to the guitar gods that the floating bridge guitars are in tune. After waiting for someone to acknowledge my existence and offer some assistance, I finally try to go on the offensive and look for help. All the workers are either engaged in conversation with fellow employees, or they scatter like roaches. Anyways, today was a test to see if things had gotten better... it had not gotten better. Same old "Guitar Center Experience", different day. Save your time and gas, go to Music Go Round, or keep searching the secondhand sites. I wont be returning to this GC for anything other than strings. P.S. I have had an excellent experience here before around 5 months ago. The customer service manager (I believe his name was Tracy) was an AWESOME employee, and everyone else who works there should strive to be more like him. I took my 2000 dollar Martin guitar I bought about a year ago in to have a crack in the middle on the lower bout repaired. When I got it back there was some kind of glue residue on top in several places and more around the bridge. Also some kind of pinkish stain on the binding and the lower bout as if it was put in some kind of vise or something holding it clamped while the glue dried. I only took it to GC because I bought a 2 year warranty. Now my beautiful Martin Special Carpathian guitar looks worse than it did when it had the small crack. I've been to several guitar centers in my Denver area and they all act like they could care less about anything to do with music or salesmanship or courtesy. They can't answer even simple questions about a given instrument especially one like mine that is a special edition made FOR GUITAR CENTER BY MARTIN !!! I'm fucking done with Guitar Center forever. It is really no wonder they were in bankruptcy and they were going downhill long before Covid hit. If it was just the one store I could understand but the lackadaisical, unconcerned who gives a shit approach seems to be prevalent across several stores I have visited in my area in the last year. read more

We're lucky here in the Denver/Boulder area, that we've got several guitar stores to choose from. I always enjoy going into the Westminster Guitar Center, to see what cool used gear they have in stock at the moment, and to demo the latest Stratocasters and Les Pauls. They've always got my favorite gauge electric guitar strings and picks in stock, and the staff are not arrogant hipsters. I've bought several effects pedals from this location, and a really nice Fender Princeton Reverb Special Edition all tube amp. Keep up the good work, Guitar Center Westminster. read more

So I'm in a new town, embarking on a new gig in my profession (medical) and I walk into the Guitar Center in Arvada, Colorado tonight with a serious jones to plug in a Les Paul. My intent is to purchase a new Gibson, because I freaking love Les Pauls. A lot. Have for over 40 years. I already own a 1989 Custom but have never remotely considered myself a collector. A gentleman named Chris is working and he unassumingly checks in with me and asks if he could help me. Of course I casually share that I might be in the market for a new (or killer used) Les Paul. Chris hooked me up with a beautiful 2019 flame burst standard with 9-46 strings and led me to a practice room where I proceeded to crank it up to about a 7 playing though an Orange amp (for the first time). It was awesome. Chris was awesome. I might be in the market for a new wife soon because of this 1.5 hour sojourn, but I guarantee you that it's a matter of time until I buy something. I am sorry to give this location such a bad rating. I have just always felt like I was doing someone a favor to buy something. I stood around looking for someone to help me with the purchase of a tuner but both guys at the station near the office just stood there talking to each other. Another couple of guys were behind the door in the office. I don't mind waiting but don't like it when I feel ignored. I had to go up to the desk and interrupt a sales person who was very preoccupied with what he was doing. I asked him if he could let me see the tuners behind the counter. He looked at me like I had insulted him. Then unhappily, he said okay and went over to the counter where the tuners were. He was checked out, going through the motions. I get it. He probably had something going on that affected his behavior. But this isn't the first time. Time and again I have felt like I had to run people down to get service there. This guitar center experience was by far the worst customer experience and service I have ever received. Me and my buddy just wanted to test the studio monitors in the studio monitor room however there was no way to hook up to the monitors to test them because guitar center is still using an 8 mm stereo jack which is not present on any apple iPhone seven or later. You would think in 2020 that guitar center with set up a Bluetooth connection option to their studio monitor room however that was not the case. This alone, would not be a problem if any of the customer service representatives would have been helpful and provided us with a 8 mm stereo jack to lightning cable adapter, but the audio service representative was very nonchalant did not even try to help us, he just said "we don't have one." We proceeded to ask other representatives in the store who all pointed us back to the audio representative who again wasn't even trying to be helpful, just kept saying "I already told them we don't have an adapter" guitar center has a $10,000 studio monitor setup that is completely unused and worthless because of a $20 adapter that you can buy at a gas station. They are very clean regarding covid and every item that gets touched gets wiped. I also take lessons from Kris and he is an amazing teacher and we are making great progress. I created a yelp account specifically for this store, mainly because it was such a hot and cold experience. We're a couple traveling musicians from a much more humid climate. I realized that my guitar needed a fret alignment so we brought it into the store. Logan went above and beyond to try and save us money and save my guitar. He knew we were on a budget and was willing to try multiple solutions to make it work. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time. We ended up going with a lower end classical and asked Steven if he knew of any way we could save money on the price (again, traveling musicians). He very pleasantly said no, but we were free to make a call to guitar center and they could possibly help us. From there, we made the call and the representative was so nice and was able to save us 56 bucks. We came back inside and tried to ask an employee named Sabado about price matching. This man was radiating annoyance and rudeness when we first walked in, but I get it, customer service isn't always fun. However, his tone and general demeanor for us trying to get the equipment that we use to make a living was just unacceptable. I have never felt more unwelcome in a retail environment. I went here for my first guitar ever and I had a guitar picked out for $350 and last second right before buying they say the one I picked out was bad and give me a different one for $350. Anyways I get home and start practicing. After a couple weeks I realize there is major buzzing up past the 12th fret. A couple weeks later I bring it back there to ask about it. The first guy I see was extremely rude and just said I didn't humidify the guitar( I was humidifying it every day). Eventually this guy literally begins ignoring me even though I was unbelievably respectful, like to the point where I literally had to leave him and find someone else. All said and done they said there was nothing they could do, they blamed it all on me. I brought the guitar into a different shop to get fixed up and another $100 later it's fixed but please, be careful with this place it's not worth it to go here if your a new guitarist they will take advantage of you and give you used and bad guitars:) read more

It's very simple, I asked for a military discount which at first I hate doing. But I am encouraged to do so throughout different resources. In doing so I got denied because I was not active duty. I just spent an hour in your store. My boyfriend brought in his guitar for maintenance. All we were doing was cleaning the internals to improve the quality of the volume knob. He took it to the service desk and a guy there took it to the back. He told us it would take 15-20 minutes to look over it and fix it. We wondered around the store for an hour. Then the guy walks back in and said, "Hey, sorry about the wait, man. I just went to lunch." He ran to the back, took 5 minutes and brought the guitar back out. Once our interaction was over he ran out the front door. The first thought that came to mind was, "Damn, does that guy even work here?" I am beyond upset and will not be going back. I took my dad's old Fender Mustang to the Arvada store to figure out why it wasn't connecting to the amp that I had used with it before many years ago. I talked with TC who took his time to talk to me about my dad's guitar and test out all the possibilities of why it wasn't working. I was overjoyed to hear about how great my dad and to hear that TC would do his best to be able to fix it. He was honest and thorough and did a fantastic job on the guitar. When I picked it up and saw the end result, it nearly made me cry. He cleaned it up so nicely and got all the buttons, knobs and output jack working perfectly. He took care to keep the vintage wires the way they were. I cannot say enough wonderful things about TC and some of the other guys I had the pleasure to talk with. I would recommend TC and the Guitar Center for anything you could need. They give realistic advice, not just try and make you buy the most expensive just to make money. I dropped off my guitar for a setup on a Friday and was told it would take a "couple of days" I patiently waited for 4 days before I finally called and asked what's going on? Well, the guitar was ready days ago, they just never called me. I have read lots of bad reviews about this place and hoped it would be different for me but I was wrong. Bought a $5000 digital piano and the delivery service would only bring it as far as the yard. Two neighbors helped me bring all 250+ lbs of it inside. Once I opened the box I realized it wasn't assembled. I called to complain and initiate a return, but was told that the only way I could return it was to box it up and send it back myself. When I pointed out I couldn't pick up 250+ lbs, and even if I could, it wouldn't fit into my car, I was hung up on. What a scam! read more

I've spent my whole life around musicians and yet I don't know all that much about instruments in general. However, I do know when someone is BSing their way through a sale. If they keep repeating the same two bits of information over and over, that's your sign. I've always thought that Guitar Center is the Starbucks of the music world. They have a huge selection of totally generic products, nothing special. Sure they're cheaper because they buy 100 of the same guitar but that means 99 other people have your guitar. Not such a rockstar now are you? Don't get me wrong they have their place. If you've never played before and you are looking for a cheap instrument to see if you are really interested in learning it, then this is your starting place. My other problem with them is that they have salespeople not music people. When I bring in my very rare vintage bass I expect a little drooling. That way when I hand it over to you for maintenance I know you care about it almost as much as I do. I know you won't eff it up. I would rather pay a little more for a locally owned shop that cares about what they are doing, so I know I can get experienced advice on buying an instrument and later bring it back to add accessories or upgrade it. This place is terrific - if I need help, have questions, the staff has always been helpful. If I just want time to myself to try out guitars, basses, or amps, I don't feel pressured - I get all the time I want to do that. Sometimes I buy, sometimes I don't, but no change in service. I recently bought a used guitar from them, had an issue with the fretboard, and Ed, one of the luthiers, made some adjustments on the spot for me when I brought it in. During these unprecedented times, I really hate to give a poor review; however, on 8/3/2020 around 5-6PM, I experienced such terrible customer service between an employee (Sabato) and my husband during our visit to this location. My husband and I came into this guitar center to replace the top string to his baritone ukulele. Upon walking through the doors, we both used the hand sanitizer available at the entrance of the store. We were greeted by Sabato and asked what we came in for. My husband told him we were looking to buy new strings while holding up his ukelele. Sabato rudely told him that they don't have any baritone strings because they "just don't send them to us". Okay....and then he said, "You can order them online and then bring your instrument to us". Okay....and then he said, "If you don't believe me, you can go and look for yourself". Okayyy?!?! So after his little spiel, my husband decides he wants to look around and Sabato says, "we have to disinfect anything you touch so just let us know if you touch anything". My husband said "okay". My husband and I follow the blue taped arrows to the acoustic room. He wanted to look at the ukulele's they have. Not a very big selection. He plucked the strings to some of the ukeleles that were hung together (about 5 ukeleles) and along comes Sabato to disinfect all the ukeleles. He reminds us again that he needs to disinfect everything that is touched in the store. We get it, we heard you the first time. So my husband tells him which ukeleles he's touched. I think he wanted us to ask before we touched an instrument?? Either way, he was still being rude. So as he is disinfecting the all the ukeleles my husband and I walk out of the acoustic room and head to one of the check out registers to a different employee and asked him if we are able to order strings. He kindly says, "Yes", but was helping another customer so we decided to wait. And then along comes Sabato again and asks my husband if he could help with something. My husband tells him that he is going to order strings. And then, Sabato offers his help for once. Why couldn't he just do that in the first place?! He obviously knew right from the start that we were there for strings. Going on, he's checking his computer for strings and explains to my husband, yet again, why he needs to disinfect everything we touch. At this point My husband about had it but kept his composure really well (until he wrote his google review). Sabato recommends something strong but apparently most are on back order and finally he finds one that's in stock around $5, so my husband goes with that one. He offers my husband to buy a back up because "these type of strings tends to break easily". My husband declines. Some how the total ended up being around $12 maybe from shipping?? At this point I think both my husband and I just wanted to pay and leave. So my husbands pays and asks for a receipt and Sabato says it will be sent to his email. It's 11:16pm on 8/3/2020 and my husband still hasn't received an emailed receipt. While my husband was checking out with Sabato, I'm watching and seeing other customers touching things and no one is following them disinfecting everything they touch. All in all, the customer service provided by Sabato compelled me to write this review. We have return in about a week for the strings and depending on how that goes, I may or may not update this review. *Update 8/9/2020 I sent my complaint to the email provided by Kenneth T's response to my review. They got back to me shortly afterwards to let me know they have sent over my complaint to the store manager at GC Arvada, CO. The store manager emailed me an apology statement and included the following ending statement: "I have looked up your order and refunded $11.98, which was the price of the strings. I hope that you will give us a chance to make it right for you on your next visit. I noticed that the strings have arrived and are ready for pickup. If you bring your uke in with you when you come to pick them up, I will see if we can have someone restring it for you at no charge". My husband went in yesterday to pick up the strings and got his Uke restringed at no charge, just as promised. Sabato was also working yesterday and issued my husband an apology personally. I think this experience was a learning experience on both ends during these weird times and stresses the importance of communication. Not only what is being communicated but, just as importantly, how it is being communicated. I appreciate the management of GC for addressing this issue with my husband and I in a quick and professional manner. read more

I never thought of leaving a review for guitar center, but since I had a couple terrible experiences on the website and their 1-800 and one good one at their store I thought I'd spread the word. Ditch their crappy website, it needs help. You can't use two gift cards there, you can't put in any sale code and a gift card code on the same purchase. The 1-800 isn't much help either, she just kept repeating she'd do what ever she can to make me happy. Well guess what, my 10% coupon they emailed to me wasn't good for half of the stuff on the website (or store). I went into the Westminster store. Not my first time. My husband owns many guitars, not necessary all from here, but buys strings and things like that here. I went in there to buy his Christmas present. I had a $20 promo gift card the store snail mailed to him (I took it out of the mail before he saw it) and my own $50 gift card from my Discover cash back. I walked in the store on a Wednesday afternoon and Chris F asked if I needed help, I told him what I wanted, he got it, took my two gift cards, I paid the difference and walked out. Easy as that. Just searching and trying to buy on the website took twice as long and I ended up with nothing from there. I even posted my frustration on their facebook page asking for suggestions and they deleted my post twice. I didn't know they could do that. OK, so I'm wishy washy here. Bad experience at guitarcenter.com, guitar center's 1-800 and their facebook. GOOD experience at the Westminster store. I can't really comment too much on their instruments, but if you are buying something they sell at all music stores, check here they might be having a sale. My husband bought a Gretsch Horton Heat guitar from here three years ago, they sell it everywhere, but this store beat their prices. He was happy with the service he received. It's a mega store and I by no means hope that you avoid Mom and Pop music stores, but sometimes what you are looking for is here and not there, like in my case. read more

Been here many times and dumped several thousand dollars on equipment that would have cost me 25-30% more anywhere else. Pros - Sale prices can be unbeatable. Staff is fairly knowledgeable and have always been courteous. Cons - The crowds during weekends and seasonal sales can overwhelm the staff and lead to long wait times. My advice, stop in here during the day on a weekday if you've got burning questions you need answered and you'll probably find someone more than willing to talk to you. read more

Let me say the managers tried to fixed every issue I've had with this store. Unfortunately, there have been many issues, and the managers seem to be the only ones outside of pro audio (who do great) that seem to care at all about the store. 1. If you want to pay retail for used and sometimes abused guitars that are sold as new, this is the place for you. 2. If you want to buy a guitar that is set up so badly its nearly unplayable, this is the spot for you. 3. If you want to pay extra for the case that comes with the upper level guitar you are buying, this is the place for you. Basically if you have the time to wait for shipping, never buy here. This store is a sad joke. I dont own a guitar cheaper than $600, most are ibanez 1300 -2200. For that cost a little attention to detail is important. read more

Sebastian was very helpful when I was in the market for an electronic drum set. He showed me several options and informed me of the differences. The store is clean, organized, and I was greeted just after a few steps inside. I enjoyed all the options, and there was an excellent selection. This was my second largest purchase of musical gear, and Sebastian let me take my time and let me look around. The prices are fair and slightly less than competitors that I saw online. I felt I was treated fairly, properly, and had all my questions answered. I highly recommend Guitar Center for any musical needs. I am enjoying my Alesis electronic kit and made a good choice. I'd mention to any drummer looking for a quiet alternative; this kit plays pretty close to an acoustic one. The mesh heads are easy to roll on, and have excellent bounce back/responce. 70 different sets with loads of fun sounds. Make sure you have a good pair of headphones with a 8 foot or longer cord. Came into this GC to give it one more try. The rudeness started as soon as we entered. I have purchased several Gibson guitars, several amps, PA equipment etc from this store. The store started going downhill about 5 years ago, (must have been a management change). Today's bs just cinched it for me. Our drummer was looking into purchasing the Alesis $2499.00 electric drum kit, since his GC Card was boosted to 3K! No help, no one around, and only 3 other customers in the store. So he waited about 15 minutes, then comes out to see if he can find someone to help him. He does suffer from an ailment where his lungs don't inflate completely, and that causes a slight breathing problem. He had a mask on, but just tucked slightly under his nose to aid his breathing. No one around him but my son and I, so no one was in any "danger". A young lady comes storming out of the office to RUDELY tell him to cover his nose. ??? When he tried to explain his breathing condition, she just stormed off back to the office to talk to the guy staring into the computer, obviously to complain about him. He's also been a customer of this store since it opened. This is how the NEW Arvada GC treats customers. Needless to say we left and neither of us will be back to this location. read more

They always price match anyone so if I can find it cheaper on the internet they will honor that price, no questions asked, which is great. I rented four powered loudspeakers from this establishment. The rental was supposed to include speaker stands and cables to connect the loudspeakers to my equipment (a mixer, a few microphones and an iPod). When I went in to pick up the rental, they didn't have cables for me, and they demanded that I purchase four cables to operate the equipment, with the promise that when I returned the equipment after the rental, they would refund me the purchase price of the cables. I brought the equipment to my gig, and found that the cables they provided were the wrong type, and there was no way to operate the equipment I rented. One of the speaker stands was also missing a part, and made it impossible to use it. I was able to connect only two of the four speakers to my equipment using cables that I was able to wrangle from elsewhere, and that was insufficient to provide sufficient sound for the event. The next day, when I returned the equipment, I was told that they were unwilling to reduce the rental fee, but made a vague promise that they would provide me a discount the next time I rented from them. The client has now refused to pay me, and I have lost more than a few hundred dollars as a result of the store's negligence. Caveat emptor. These people are thieves. If I could give them zero stars, I would. I won't be bringing them any more business. read more

My daughter got an electric guitar and was super excited to start, but it needed to be restrung. We went in and the employee behind the counter was talking with someone- a friend or maybe another customer. He directed us to another counter and said that somebody would be right out to help us. We waited for about 20 minutes. The first employee that greeted us (and the only employee we saw) talked to the other person that whole time... and he could see us standing there. He made no attempt to call somebody that we could see. We finally started moving toward the door. The employee didn't ask us to stay or acknowledge our leaving. We wasted so much time! Terrible service when no one else was in the store. So, we took to google and we went to Music and Arts just down 88th on Wadsworth. We were greeted and helped right when we walked in the door. They had my daughter's guitar strung in 5 minutes. They gave her some pics and showed her how to hold the instrument and talked to her about it. She was super excited after our visit. read more
