The hostess or employee sat me down, and I took a seat at the bar. I was immediately given water and a menu, which felt easy and welcoming. This is not a "background music while you catch up" kind of bar. The music is the experience, inspired by Japanese listening bars. The sound is intentional, the vinyl selections feel curated, and the space encourages you to slow down and be present. Located in the Arts District of the Santa Fe neighborhood, ESP HiFi is walk in only, so arriving early is a good idea since it fills up quickly. The menu includes seasonal cocktails, highballs, natural wine, warm drinks, non alcoholic options, and small bites, with tastings focused on Japanese whiskey and mezcal. I had a walnut mezcal based cocktail, and ordered olives and Marcona almonds as a snack, all of which fit the vibe perfectly. They also offer a daily happy hour or "social hour" from 4 to 5pm. It was also fun watching the mixologist seamlessly switch between making drinks and DJing, which added to the experience. Yes, it is dark inside, but that is part of the atmosphere. The staff is not overly talkative, but the music is the whole point here, and that focus feels intentional. It is a popular spot and definitely gives hipster energy, but in a self aware, well executed way. If you are expecting a loud, social cocktail lounge, this is not it. If you appreciate good sound and a focused atmosphere, you will enjoy it. Not trying to please everyone. Just doing its thing and doing it well.

We waited only about 10 minutes to be seated at the bar, which already felt like a small miracle for a weekend night in Denver. The interior is dark, intimate, and beautifully understated - romantic without feeling forced. The music (on vinyl btw) is impeccable and intentionally curated, the kind you actually feel, not just hear. Pair that with an excellent wine selection and you've got a space that's clearly designed for slowing down and being present. No distractions, just great sound, great drinks, and great energy. Easily one of my favorite bars in Denver now. ESP Hi-Fi understands atmosphere, and it shows. Already looking forward to coming back!

Even as my second time here in the last 4 years I was happy to see Twist & Shout made MORE room for vinyl selections and browsing space. You still have other media too include DVDs (rare and hard to find selections), CDs, cassettes, and unique and local gifts and items. Take some time to look around here even up and down the walls. There is a really cool yellow Bruce Springsteen marquee in the sell/buy area. We spent over an hour here browsing and I walked out with two vinyl albums I had on my "Must-Have" list of analog music. Great and fair pricing on their "Used" records but to be honest all music is priced fairly. Really cool location with friendly service from the staff. If you have any questions on where things are or on the thing(s) you are looking for don't hesitate to ask! Also go over to the free publication area (at the exit) and check out all of the cool (and free) postcards from Twist & Shout along with flyers and freebies promoting any upcoming art, music shows, upcoming albums, and whatnot.

I brought in a curated stack of clean, high‑demand records and was met with one of the most disrespectful experiences I have ever had. The buyer behind the counter was openly flippant, dismissive, and acted like I had no idea what I was bringing in. His attitude alone set the tone -- rushed, condescending, and completely uninterested in treating me with respect. I think it takes longer than five minutes to look at the quality and condition of 30 records. He opened with a lowball offer that did not match the titles, rarity or the condition, and when I questioned it, he said "records not selling" while we are standing in a store literally packed with people buying vinyl. It was insulting, and it was clearly meant to make me feel like I should be grateful for whatever lowball number he threw out. The moment I pushed back and asked for my records back, his offer suddenly jumped up but still well under a fair trade. That tells you everything about their honesty and ethics. It was not about fair value -- it was about seeing what they could get away with - how low they could lowball. To top it off, they paid with a check instead of cash, which made the whole thing feel even more disrespectful, inconvenient, and dismissive. In hindsight, I wish I had taken my records back but I was so disoriented by the disrespect and clerk behavior. And it made me realize why I never sell or trade records. If you care about being treated with basic respect or honesty, take your business somewhere else. I will never buy anything from this disreputable unethical establishment. And you should not either. This is not a mom and pop business but a business operating without integrity exploiting its customers.

I don't know if i can quite capture my Soundings experience in a review, but here goes. It was…read morenothing short of outstanding. The net of it is that there was never any pressure to buy - i had several interactions with the Soundings team over a period of about 18 months and both times they started with conversations about what I wanted to achieve from all perspectives - equipment, usage (music, film), and aesthetics. And at the outset of both interactions, they wanted simply to visit my home so they could understand the environment in which i was working. After the first interaction, i did nothing other than completely change my plans as i was in the midst of re-modeling my basement where i was planning to put the A/V equipment - most of which i already possessed. Once i completed that, i returned to Soundings and started over with Mark, who happened to be at the store when I arrived. Again, never any pressure to buy, but simply a conversation about what i wanted to do. At that point, most of it was related to A/V furniture and installation of a TV. We decided to add a subwoofer and replace some of the builder furnished in ceiling speakers. Once it was delivered and installed, then the fun really began. The Soundings master set process is truly amazing. I refer to the Soundings team now as the Sounder Whisperers. My stereo has never sounded so good. Mark arrived with several known source materials (audio and film) and we proceeded to spend several hours listening and using an organized process, making what are seemingly infinitesimally small movements in the placement of front, center, and sub speakers. This process truly fit the equipment to the room and sounded superb. Even though I was satisfied - i could still tell a difference in my 20+ year old equipment compared to some of the equipment i had listened to in the store. Moreover, my speakers were a little large for the space. Thus, i returned to the store, was encouraged to bring some source material, and then simply spent some time in one of the rooms and listened. To make a long story short, I decided to upgrade both my speakers and A/V receiver. It was a two step process as i didn't quite believe that the electronics could make such a huge difference in sound, but it was truly amazing. After a few months to let the equipment settle in, we repeated the master set process and I now have a sound system that matches the full sound i heard at the store. Whether it's listening to audio or watching a movie - the experience is wonderful. As i said, there was never any pressure to buy anything, just conversations around what i wanted to achieve. Certainly there are different price points to consider, but they have really done all of the research for you and what you'll find at Soundings is remarkable sound at each of their budget levels and a great staff that is truly interested in helping you achieve your A/V goals. All in all an outstanding experience.

Indranil Dandaroy Posting publicly. Learn more…read moreI had extremely positive experience at this store. Audiophile stores can be snobbish at times. I have a Pro-ject turntable that needs cartridge setup with proper alignment, VTA and azimuth. I did not buy the table from them. Yet Rod told me to bring the table in. We had good discussions about 2-channel audio. I could tell he is a true audiophile, knows his stuff but still very helpful and humble. There was bit of challenge in setting up my table (for which he had to talk to Pro-ject tech and make mod to his tool), but he spent that time and got everything adjusted. The table actually sounds a bit better now and the best part is he did not charge me anything for all the time spent. When I picked up the table, I asked him again if I owed him anything. He said no and helped me put the table in my car. Now that is service. I highly recommend anyone in the Front Range area to seek out this store. Rod will not disappoint you. HIGHLY recommended!

I think the best thing about working with David is his genuine passion for music. Yes, he is really into the gear but I knew from the beginning that he's even more into music. Instead, it felt like a fellow music lover wanted to help me have the best listening experience that I could possibly have with the gear that best fit my budget. David was very generous with his time and expertise advising how to make the most of what I have. He recommended a couple of component upgrades that he said were exceptional in value and would really enhance my listening experience. I am not a true audiophile and believed I already owned pretty high quality stuff so I was skeptical. At my request David took the time to connect my CD player at his studio and allowed me to compare mine with his recommended upgrade. WOW! What a difference in sound. I now enjoy my own private concert hall in my family room every time I want to listen. I would recommend David and Audiohouse to anyone with discerning ears and a love of music. He is very sensitive to your needs and budget and takes pride in helping you get the best sound possible. No pressure - just great advice and excellent value.

Well, as most of my hopes and dreams of the 1990s, that plan needed a bit of a revision. After many years of use, including the enthusiastic tweeter poking of my young sons, the speakers needed to be repaired. I found Speaker Repair & Reconing Center of Colorado on Yelp - and based on the reviews, I had high expectations. Even so, Brandon surpassed the high bar that had already been set. He tested each speaker individually, (tweeters and mid ranges..), and when he identified speakers that needed to be replaced, he ensured he procured them from the same manufacturers of the original speakers. Beyond the speakers, he even conditioned the internal electronics, Before I left the shop with my newly refreshed and rebuilt speakers, Brandon let me listen to each one, and made sure all the frequencies were crisp and clear and powerful. The price was beyond reasonable for the work that he did - I could really tell he was doing it for the love of the craft more than financial gain. If you have any speakers that need some repair or diagnostic evaluation - I recommend you have a talk with Brandon. I am confident you will be as overjoyed with the result as I am. Thank you Brandon!
