Went to Guiry's with my daughter (1/4/26) about 45 minutes before close to look at wallpaper and get some paint samples. No one greeted us or offered to help us until 8 minutes before close. Then a girl with blue hair and eyebrows and a nasty demeanor let us know it was 8 minutes before close and then asked if we needed help. There literally was only one other family that came into the store the whole time we were there and only for a few minutes. My daughter looked around the entire store 2-3 times while I was looking at wallpaper. Neither the manager or the girl with blue hair said anything to either of us. My daughter said the blue haired girl was on her phone and she didn't see the manager. As we were leaving the manager comes up and asks if she can help us. I told her were had been there 45 minutes and no one has offered to help us except a few minutes prior. She said the designers were not available and I should have read the signs in the wallpaper area. She said she and the other girl were the only employees there and busy helping people in the paint department. Since there were really no other customers and my daughter saw otherwise, this was a complete falsehood. Clearly she was not management material (blonde haired, middle aged lady) and the blue haired girl was not interested in customer service only here phone. Both were rude, unprofessional. I would not recommend going to this location or Guiry's in general. It's too bad, I have bought many things there in the past. read more

Had to exchange a tiny 8oz can I purchased that when I opened the same day noticed was half used and had been tampered with. Really did not appreciate the sideways looks and questioning the blue-haired girl behind the counter gave me. As though I wanted to make another trip to the store for something that probably wasn't even worth the gas money... the way she acted is still annoying me hence the review. It took forever for them to go through some exchange process and they even wanted to go find someone else to examine the can for something reason but couldn't find him. I love to get my specialty art supplies here when I can. They are really the only store that carries specialty art supplies in the area and as a fine artist in need of professional-quality supplies I'm so grateful they are here. (I also frequented them back in college when I needed supplies for my various art classes). Sadly, they don't have as large a selection as I'd like and unfortunately don't seem to carry the specific paper I use for my work, but they are fantastic for what they do have and when I need supplies short notice. I particularly love that they sell individual colored pencils so I can quickly grab a replacement when I'm running low on a specific color and get back to my project right away. Sometimes the prices here are a little higher than I can find elsewhere, but I always try to check here before ordering supplies online regardless. I much prefer to support a longstanding local business when I can. I've always found the customer service here to be great as well. There are always plenty of staff around to greet me and offer help or to check out when I'm ready to purchase, but they also don't hover when I sometimes spend a long time browsing supplies, often not looking for anything in particular and just getting inspiration. read more

Guiry's is the place to go for art supplies. A big plus, they are local! I was looking for a present for someone who is wanting to learn to sketch and draw. I searched online for starter kits and they all had the look of what would be overwhelming and too much for a beginner, and many reviews regarding the lower quality. I headed to Guiry's and they have everything you need, good selection, good products, and someone who knew about it! If you need help with selecting a paint color, this is definitely the place to go. Their staff that I have worked with have been pretty darn knowledgeable (I have interacted with at least 3 or 4 different ones). They not only know their products--which includes quite an extesive selection of many, many different colors and options--but their color expertise is very impressive. I am far from being any paint nor color expert, but they certainly shared information with me that helped me move away from the totally clueless side, enabling me to make more informed decisions. They don't hover over customers so, yes, sometimes you may actually have to make some effort to let them know you would like their advice, but once you do, they are on top of it! read more

Twice in a row now I have come into the store with a coupon and been told that the coupon was applied to my purchase later to find out that the coupon was not applied. This is extremely unprofessional and dishonest business practice. The cashier didn't even know how to check to see if a coupon had been applied. read more

Jim, at Guirys on University in Centennial, went out of his way to match the unusual stain on my wood door. He brought the door into the store and let me leave it there. Since the existing stain had not been sanded down to bare wood, it was hard to match the color. He experimented until he found the closest color possible. Jim is very patient, experienced and accommodating. We worked with him previously to learn how to restain our kitchen cabinets and to find the best products and stain mix. All of the paint department is very knowledgeable and helpful in helping customers feel confident completing their home projects! read more

I have used the paint consultation service for 3 prior homes and continue to have nothing but the best experience each time. Appointment today was with Sue and she arrived promptly and competely prepared for the appointment (and seems to be the only visitor our home to read our sign requesting not to ring the door bell). Sue spent an hour and a half with me (and tolerated me taking work calls during our appointment). We now have a few great ideas for the areas we are looking to paint and just wanted express how much I do appreciate the service. read more

Went to this store and got treated like I was a piece of trash. I was told it would take two days to create a stain match sample. The clerk never offered to hang on to my floor sample and new railing pieces, just to come back next week. Then says to me "no problem" went I walked away from the counter. Great customer service! Bought deck stain from them last year, went back this year to buy the same stain and was told it had been discontinued. I was so disappointed! But they looked in their computer and learned there were 4 gallons at another of their stores. The employee called to verify and was told that they didn't actually have any; he told a coworker he didn't trust the person that answered the phone so the coworker called back and spoke to another person at the other store. They spent 15-20 minutes and were finally able to get someone at the other store to confirm they did in fact have 4 gallons! They arranged to have it delivered to this store for me to pick up the next day. The second employee who helped me then also took time to advise me on what to do the next time we need to stain seeing as ours is now discontinued. He referred me to a great product based on our priorities for the stain being as "colorless" as possible (to allow the beautiful, natural redwood color to show through) and sent me home with a brochure to keep as a reference. I sincerely appreciated the effort both employees made to help me out, and for trusting their instinct about misinformation when they originally called the other store. read more

Worst customer service ever. I was looking at paint samples for 15 minutes, and then had to go find someone to help me. They didn't even know I was there. Update: Although I had a terrible experience when visiting the store last week I am a bit more content since the manager, Jennifer, reached out to me to make things right. She is allowing me to return some paint samples that I bought (which are non-returnable and I later decided that I don't need/want them), and setting me up with a designer to help pick paint colors. I love this store! I've been to 3 different locations (more than once): Parker, Centennial, and Denver South (Colorado Blvd.), and the store in Centennial is definitely my favorite. It's not too large or small, much easier to find what I want, and the employees are friendlier. About 99% of the time, they will have all of the items I need. I live in the DTC, so the store in Centennial is slightly out of my way, but worth the trip. read more

If there is one thing I know, it is that I can count on Guiry's for any of my design projects for school. The staff here is always helpful (even early in the morning), they always take personal interest in my project (or act like they do), and are willing to go above and beyond to make sure they meet my needs. They have a great selection of art supplies. I mainly go here to get letromax cut for presentations and they have always been so helpful, and even cut and measure it for me. I first shopped at Guiry's because Consumer Reports rated Benjamin Moore paint as a best choice for painting the exterior of your home. The paint has been on my house for two years and still looks great. Guiry's charges full retail unless you have an account and their prices are on the high side. Comparable items at the big box stores are more reasonably priced. This would be okay if the service were outstanding at Guiry's, but it is hard to get help unless you are mixing paint or just paying for something. The store is at University & County Line is nicely laid out and they have everything displayed well, including some good decorating ideas, but the service falls short. For these reasons, I generally only go in to buy specialty items that you can't find elsewhere. read more

I paid one of the designers to come to my home, and he helped me make decisions that I'm still happy about two years later. This is also one of my favorite places to brainstorm art ideas. I want to say that the paint department is absolutely excellent and that the manager and Travis were so kind and helpful but because of the woman working in wallpaper we will never return to this store. We looked and looked through countless books asking the woman for help a few times and she couldn't be bothered to help. I am not one to make it be this way but my partner and I are both Hispanic and we're completely shunned by the old white lady in the department. However, when another old white couple approached she was in nothing but a hurry to help them. The employee even rolled her eyes at me when I told the other customer to look at the spines of the books for what was in them. I have never felt so discriminated against in my ENTIRE LIFE. The final straw is when I asked her for help a THIRD TIME and to possibly order a sample she was insanely rude and made it absolutely obvious she wasn't interested in our business or helping us. I will never return to this store as long as they allow racist and prejudice employees like that to work there. read more

Scored with Benjamin Moore and expert advice at the Centennial location. I am an artist and teach adult classes. The students have come to know Guiry's well as they shop for supplies. As we talk about a new project they light up with another excuse to go to Guiry's. :) I consider Guiry's a treasure to have quality art supplies only 10 minutes away. We recently bought several gallons of paint for a house project. They were really busy the day we went to buy paint, so they took the order from my husband, and we returned later to pick it up. When I returned to pick up the paint, I discovered that my husband had purchased the wrong paint (semi-gloss for our family room walls!!!). Knowing that this was a $200 mistake, I'm sure I was visibly shaken. After telling the employee that I will just have to eat the mistake, he told me to hang on for a minute. He went and talked to his manager, and within minutes he came back and said that they would replace all of the paint free of charge. I was stunned. That was OUR mistake, and they ate the cost! One of my favorite stores!!! My only suggestion would be to hire a good manager. On several occasions the staff have complained that the manager is horrible or that there is a lack of one. I come here for all of my art supplies though and the staff have been nice and helpful! read more

I never went to guirys before until I started a class and the teacher recommended them. I love this location and the staff is great in helping you out. I received the most help from Amanda who is very informative in the medium I use which is watercolor. She helped me find what I needed and gave the best recommendations while showing me visually what the colors actually look like when applied! Just got in from Guiry's and just have to write a review. I walked in with a bulky Hunter Douglas shade for repair and had to wait for the 2 cashiers to finish their conversation. I'm 6 foot tall, so I know that they saw me struggling with this large shade. I was pointed to the back of the store, oh that's ok, I don't need any help, I muttered under my breath! I placed the shade down on a table and the salesperson picked it up to move it and some of it came undone and she said that WE must put it together...no YOU do ! Next stop, paint. I gave the salesperson my dimension for the rooms to be painted. He suggested the primer and paint type, when I asked how much for the gallons of primer and paint he said around such and such. I asked him to give me the price per gallon of primer and the price per gallon for paint because I wanted to know how muck I'd be spending . I asked if there was a chart with prices on it and he seemed upset thatched have to walk over and check! What is wrong with the customer service in this place??? I went to THREE different areas and in ALL THREE terrible help.....so I took my business elsewhere and will tell others to do the same. read more

I've used the designers and paint department for several of my home projects, but I was sorely disappointed on my visit to this store last week. The designers were less than helpful, busy hiding behind their computers instead of helping customers. Finally, I approached a younger lady, and she acted like I was a real bother to her. Two ladies actually ended up helping me, but both seemed to be inconvenienced. I thought their job was to help customers and be friendly and professional. The young men at the paint counter were just the same. There was no one at the counter when I came up so they weren't busy, but again, they were not very helpful and appeared quite disinterested. What's become of the great customer service that Guiry's has been know for? A refresher course in customer service is desperately needed!! For the price of paint, you would expect better! read more

I got off work a bit late and called guirys in highlands ranch. I notified them about my situation and asked them if it was at all possible to maybe stay open for an extra minute of two because it looked like I was going to be arriving a minute or two late. The gentlemen said that he would wait A few more minutes to close and help me out if he was there. Unfortunately due to traffic I arrived 8 minutes late but he was there, all lights were on and the store looked open, i knocked to ask him a question about where else i could find calligraphy opens at this hour. He shrugged his shoulders and looked down pretending I wasn't there. I drove 45 minutes from Arvada and after calling to inform them i was running late and the gentlemen with the dark hair and glasses who shrugged his shoulders at me wouldn't even come to the door. Just pretended like I didn't exist. And that they were close but I was not asking for them to re-open I just wanted to know if he knew of a place where I could find caligraphy pens. Instead I was treated like a burden and treated like i had not previously informed them I would be late. Horrible customer service, and just a mean person in general. He saw me standing outside until the lights turned off and didn't want to answer. When he walked to his car I asked why he couldn't answer my question and if it was him who I spoke to on the phone. He yelled" i didn't speak to anyone on the phone! And you're here late banging on the door" which is not true at all fore I called was told it was fine if i was a few minutes late and i never banged on the door, I knocked politely. Last week, we received the worst customer service at this Guiry's location. We were looking at paint samples (no one had offered to assist us), and we were scolded in front of several other customers for opening a paint sample which we intended to purchase. She reprimanded me and told me that I would have to buy all the ones I had opened (which I was happy to do). At checkout, I simply asked a question about the application of the teakwood oil. I asked her concerning the temperature instructions, and we have completely disrespected and humiliated. She accused me of not following directions and presumed that I would start a fire by my incorrect application. We have never been so humiliated and disrespected at a place of business. We will never be returning based on this experience. We do not recommend this store by any means. Home Depot has MUCH better customer service and better prices for that matter. read more
