I needed a very large print matted and was given very short notice to have it done. I called around and was quoted at least a 2 week turnaround time. I was ready to give up when I called ABC Custom Framing and they took care of my needs that very day, within a half hour! The young woman who helped me was knowledgeable and professional. ABC Custom Framing was awesome! I had a rush framing request for an 84"x27" banner that needed to be hung over the weekend, and the request was made on Tuesday afternoon. I called and spoke to Lauren, who said it would be no problem, as long as I could get the graphic there by that afternoon. I dropped the banner off at shortly after 3 pm, and true to her word, the banner was ready for pickup Thursday at noon. Outstanding customer service and the quality is amazing. Scene #1: Last summer. I decide that it's finally time to frame a large, uniquely sized poster that I got overseas. I want to display it, but don't want the sticky-tacked college dorm look, so I decide to head to the Michaels around Colorado and Evans and check out their frames. Bad call. Store reeks of perfumed candles (hello, headache) and nothing off the shelf fits this particular piece (and it all looked super cheap anyway.) So I attempt to engage the people at the framing counter. Not friendly, not helpful, and again, cheap stuff. Argh. So I walk out, and see a sign a few stores down in the strip mall: ABC Custom Framing. The store is clean, professional and scent-free. I'm helped immediately by an incredibly friendly and helpful woman who it turns out is also the owner (another plus- the store is family owned and run.) She looks at my poster, recommends a frame and explains an option for posters- some sort of special spray that preserves it at a much lower cost than traditional framing. Done and done. Poster looks great, service was spot-on and it wasn't horribly expensive. Yay ABC. Scene #2: A few weeks ago. My bf wanted to frame some paintings that he got for his family. He, too, is on a budget, and despite my objections decides to start at Michaels. If possible, this experience was even worse than the last. The person at the framing counter was rude and literally had no idea what he was talking about. Unhelpful is an understatement. We stood there, staring at these cheap and ugly frames, and finally my bf just said, "Ok. Let's go." So we proceeded to ABC again. And again, the experience was everything that a shopping experience should be. The guy who helped us was knowledgeable and helped us decide how the paintings would be best presented. And again, he also helped us meet our budget. ABC has a program where you work with the framers and tell them what you want (frame, mat, etc) but then they actually make the final decision and use their best judgment for the framing process. This method- essentially putting your piece into the hands of professionals who know your style- saves you 30%. Once more, done and done. (One more note: his paintings ended up being about $10 more at ABC than they would have been at Michaels, even with the "60% off" sale. I can't emphasize enough what piece of mind in terms of quality and craftsmanship that $10 brought us.) No more wasting time at Michaels (I suppose I should voice my opinions on their service in a different review, but the juxtaposition to ABC was so intense that I had to make it part of this story.) Hooray for ABC- I love that I now have a place that I know and trust- so reassuring. Now if I could only find the perfect pizza place... read more

Everything in life should be so simple.... ABC's professionalism and know-how make the handful of teenagers manning the counter at Michael's Framing counter look like children. Have you ever been to the framing counter at Michael's or Hobby Lobby? It's bad there, real bad. So glad I found ABC instead. We had a couple of old prints laying around. That kind of stuff you pick up at the Goodwill for $10 and say, "Some day I'm going to frame this and hang it in the Dining Room" and then it sits in the basement closet for years, and you never bother to buy anything else for the Dining Room, because you're planning on someday getting those prints framed. Well, someday finally came! After a less-than-awesome experience at a chain store, we made it in to ABC and the lovely owner, Maureen, was able to find the PERFECT frame to match our prints. It seriously looks like the frame was made for the art. I had no idea it could look this good. It was ready in a week or two, and I had the option to get it sooner if I wanted, which would be helpful the next time I have a framing emergency. They had a huge variety of frames and mattes and I'm fairly sure they could frame anything if I needed them to. Also really nice was when I picked up, the guy working insisted on carrying my order to my car for me. Very nice touch. read more

Deserves no stars but had to click on one to leave my review. One of the owners I've had to deal with on a few occasions (and not by choice) is the most rude and unprofessional person I've ever met! The demeanor of this guy has been so unpleasant to almost embarrassing. He has been curt and abrasive and it's been unwarranted. We've given this place a lot of our business because they're close in proximity but there are plenty of other frame shops that would love to have our account...I'll be trying to get that changed asap. read more

I will never use another framing company as long as I live in Denver. These people are extremely professional, highly skilled, and very friendly. I had a priceless (to me) souvenir from a recent adventure framed, and I cannot put into words how happy I am with the results they provided for this piece. I am getting ready to move out of state and wanted to have a couple of prints framed as gifts. One of pieces I wanted to surround with a few 4x6 photos. I've never had anything framed before and so had no idea what to expect or even really what to ask for. The guys there were both very nice and helpful and spent plenty of time helping me to figure out the correct frames and matting for all three of the pieces I had. Because I'm preparing to move I needed the art finished a week earlier than they would normally be able to promise getting it done. They finished the work the day before it needed to be done and even called back after we were randomly disconnected to make sure I knew they were ready. I brought the pictures I wanted included in one of the frames when I went to pick them up but the sizing was ever so slightly off so they kept the pictures and frames for another couple of hours to fix it and make sure it was perfect. I had a really great experience and look forward to having more stuff to frame in the future so I can take it to these guys. The frames are beautiful and the service was great. read more

I went to ABC Custom Framing about 3 weeks ago, to have a painting I did framed for a customer. They had told me over the phone they could work with me if they had scrap, give a discount for first time customers, etc. They seemed really on the up and up, and like nice guys. When I went in even and met with Ryan, he seemed really cool, and even showed me his fantastic art. We talked for a bit, he gave me a really big discount, and told me that they were out of the framing material I wanted, and it'd take a couple weeks. Which I was fine with. I also learned that management was transferring to Justin, and that his father was in the process of completing ownership transfer of the business, after buying it from the previous owner. All was well, until I went to pick up the painting, which had a chip on one side of the frame. When I brought it up to Justin he said; "Well Ryan gave you a cash discount, and we don't even normally do that, and it was probably scrap, and we personally ordered it for your frame, so we don't even have any left. You'll have to wait another two weeks, or let me patch it." First of all, the material I had gotten was their 1 1/2 inch black framing that most people order, at most frame shops, because it is the cheapest. They had to make a fairly big order of it to keep it in stock, and sitting right next to my painting on the wall, was a print freshly framed in the same exact material, proving it was not ordered for me alone. So Justin guilt-tripped me about their mistake, and then claimed he couldn't re-frame it for ANOTHER 2 weeks. Which, during the course of waiting on the frame, Ryan kept in touch with me via e-mail, and told me that this was not the norm at all, and apologized profusely saying that it's usually just a 2-3 day wait. The day I went to pick it up, after agreeing to have Justin cover the ding, Ryan e-mailed me saying he'd had the entire thing re-framed, and apologized profusely again. When I came in though, the frame had been patched, and then VARNISHED(and poorly at that, I might add), ruining the beautiful flat black patina it had originally sported. So not only had it not been re-framed, but I was given a completely different look than the material originally shown to me. I refused to go in and have it fixed, after being lied to, guilt tripped, and treated so unprofessionally, and although I was given a large discount, the service was so awful I would have rather paid full price somewhere else. I am honestly too paranoid to bring the painting back to ABC, as I do not want it damaged at all in spite. I wrote Ryan after all of this, and told him I really did not want to get into all the details, but I was upset at their lying and poor customer service skills. He then got defensive, and told me not to write his 'personal account', and instead write their business account, even though he had started the conversation himself and was using his personal account AS a business account. Needless to say, I'll not be back, and I highly recommend choosing another business, since clearly the new ownership is not very kind, or professional. read more

I became aware of ABC Custom Framing after Alena H's review made a ROTD and I figured it was about time I did something with an oil painting of Machu Picchu that I purchased back in October 2006. It has been rolled up in my dresser all this time and to be honest it could of stayed there a few more years! Do you know how expensive framing is these days? :o( So anyways, Phil was the guy at ABC and he spent at least an hour with me when I went to check out the frames. He presented me with a whole bunch of samples including different mattes and frame edging to see which fit the painting the best. When we finally decided on what looked the best he rang it up and with the $30 off coupon that he gave me the final price was $153 for a painting 17 1/2" X 12 5/8" YIKES!!! I was quoted 10 days turn around time tho it ended up being ready in 7 days and I just picked it up. The store was open till 6pm but with the crazy thunderstorms we just had I was running late and so I called the store and they said they would wait for me which was cool. When I get there they unwrapped the painting and I was blown away as to how cool it looked. I had chose a black frame with a hint of gold, bevelled with lines and it really allows the colors in the painting to pop! They even provide all the necessary mounting hardware, hanging wire, nail and hook :etc o) A very professional job, not cheap but you get what you pay for! Highly recommended. read more

Just had four smaller prints framed at this location. The cost for framing these days is outrageous. That being said, the service here was all that I could have asked for. The work was done within the time frame promised. I had gone to Jo-Ann fabrics,hoping to save some money and was ignored. The help and support I received from this establishment told me that my business was appreciated. If you can reconcile that the cost of custom framing is very high you will be very happy the selection and service at ABC. I will return for all of my framing needs. read more

I am a budding artist, and recently painted an acrylic portrait for a friend as a gift. I needed it framed, of course I needed it yesterday, and of course, I didn't want to spend much. I searched the usual Michaels, JoAnns, etc. I never got any help...good luck finding an attendant at one of those stores! I took a chance and stopped in to ABC (right next door to Joann's on Colo blvd). I had my own backless frame for my 18x24 canvas portrait, just needed it put together. The two extremely friendly young men that greeted me when I walked in (30 minutes. Before closing, I might add), were very hospitable and kind. I asked them "how much to put these together?" They kindly put my portrait in the frame, hardware included, for almost nothing, and in about 5 minutes. I love these guys! I started doing custom pet portraits, and now I know where I will go for framing. Great job guys! read more

We've used ABC Custom Framing 4 or 5 times and they do really great work. The staff is very knowledgable and offers great options. I'll usually go in with no idea what I want and they patiently offer suggestions about what would work best with the piece I have. The finished product always looks even better than I imagined. Is there less than a one star? Not sure what happened to the way this place used to be run - they'd been great in the past, but the people running it now have absolutely no idea how to treat customers. I paid a rush fee for a mat that I specifically asked to be a 20" square and then after taking it home and putting it in the frame, I come to find out that they cut it a 1/4" short. When I called to ask for a refund I was told to bring in the mat so that I could, "Argue myself with the person who cut it to try to get a refund." DO NOT SHOP HERE - unless you like being treated like crap. BTW - Just got a call from them and in their message they are offering a refund, told me that I didn't seem to have the correct information for them and that they would, "like me to please never come back to their store and in the future find a different framer." You bet! Terrible! read more

If you want quality workmanship, this is a good place to give a try. That being said, don't be surprised if your order takes longer than expected and you do not get a call. And don't expect a friendly, open attitude when you pick up your order. I have had several peices of art framed at ABC and each time I have been impressed by the service and quality. The staff knows what they are doing from an artistic standpoint and take time to make sure you are happy. And they are fast! I have used Aaron Bros as well and find ABC to be LOWER cost for the same thing and much higher quality. They even include the hardware to hang the art. You won't be disappointed! read more

I cannot say enough about this store! These guys recently bought the store after having worked for the previous owner. They go above and beyond to do a great job and they want to earn and keep your business. Their prices are right on par with big box framers like Michael's, but do such a better job. We've had at least 10 items framed and have not been disappointed with one of them. Chances are the reviewers who have nasty experiences are rude and nasty themselves. I brought an order in a week and a half before Christmas and it was done early. Don't listen to the nasty reviews, they probably are habitual reviewers who only write bad reviews. read more

I would definitely avoid this store. These folks are incredibly unprofessional. They completely ruined a photo I brought it to have the glass replaced and refused to acknowledge that they did it, instead telling me that I brought in with huge water stains on it already. It was not worth anything and I did not want anything from them. However, when I asked them what happened they became incredibly hostile and defensive. There is no way I would recommend this company to anyone. read more
