It's rare you order two different sandwiches and can't decide which one you liked more, but that was the case here. One of the sneaky best deals: you can add a cup of soup for just $2. I tried the rustic sausage and potato soup and it was excellent--hearty, flavorful, and felt homemade in the best way. What stood out beyond the food is how consistent everything felt with what others say: high-quality ingredients, generous portions, and that authentic, no-frills Italian deli vibe. They give you some small plain bread knots when you sit down and had no problem, giving us a refill, even a side of marinara sauce for dipping when we asked. We started with the Caprese appetizer, which was fresh and delicious lightly, garnished with the balsamic glaze that sets the flavor off, not too overpowering. We shared three different pastas - the penne rustica, the shrimp and artichoke, and the pesto tortellini. The rustica was definitely the best, it had such a depth of flavor, and the sauce was a perfect rosé of creamy tomato, with the vegetables helping set off the textures and flavors even more. The other two pastas were good, but I wouldn't prioritize ordering them again, the pesto tortellini was so rich and creamy, but lacked any pesto flavor, which was surprising since it was vivid and green, and so visually appealing. The shrimp and artichoke was good, but didn't allow me, I felt like the artichoke needed more seasoning or something to bring it out a little in the sauce and pasta mix. The owner Nancy was such a sweetheart. She was so attentive and came over to us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. Next time I'll be trying the Bolognese :)

It is 100% authentic in flavor, which I appreciate. You could taste that the meal is made by an Italian chef. To many downtown restaurants have BS menus they know nothing about - that is NOT the case here. I might suggest they upgrade the salad a bit , it was the typical restaurant bagged salad blend with shredded cheese & covered with sliced pepperoni. Don't get me wrong it was very nice to have with the heavy meal, I just wasn't as excited as I was with everything else. And I am nitpicking !! The meal was excellent. Location is a bit tricky & I hope that doesn't negatively impact this place. Upside it is very close to the new Stack 'em & pack 'em mixed retail so hopefully that will be good for him.
